Erik ends difficult year with loan move

412

I know we all liked big Erik. He brought instant calm to Ronny Delia’s team when he arrived two years ago today. But, while 2016 started authoritatively for the central defender, it ended with him looking pensive and out of his depth at Ibrox, albeit in a Celtic win.

2017 has been largely forgettable for the player. This season has effectively been a write-off for him, after an injury in the Champions League qualifiers. It would have been better for all if he got a permanent deal elsewhere but at least a loan return to Midtjylland will afford him time to regain his confidence, hopefully leading to a new deal elsewhere in the summer.

I am sure we are still looking at the central defensive space for this month.  There could be more in and out.

NEW CQN PODCAST OUT NOW FEATURING TOMMY SHERIDAN

A Celtic State of Mind presents its 30th instalment of insightful discussion around the culture of Celtic Football Club, the city of Glasgow, and fans of the reigning treble-winning Scottish champions.

Kevin Graham is joined by Scotty Alcroft to interview Scottish pro-independence politician, Tommy Sheridan, at The Penalty Spot in Glasgow.

The interview took place as part of A Celtic State of Mind’s first live event – Five-a-sides at The Penalty Spot – and, as such, there is some background noise (including mobile interference – apologies) from the audience.

The other voice you may hear throughout this episode is that of former Celtic striker, Frank McGarvey, who is a friend of Tommy’s, and who was also interviewed separately that day for a future show.

You are sure to enjoy Tommy’s eclectic input, as he discusses everything from Catalan independence to Coolio, with a constant undercurrent of that thing called Celtic.

  1. I live in Aberdeen, very close to a similar structure. It’s on the flight path to the airport for a lot of the helicopters going offshore. And coming back, obviously.

I did not dismiss Wiki nor polls out of hand. I pointed out, and gave evidence of this, that polls were being used that were slanted and not scientificaly constructed and that claims were made for the data which could not be supported.

Would you reply “No” to a question asking if you supported measures to defeat sectarianism and bigotry?

We deserve a better standard of evidence or we will buy wholesale what is being sold to us.

The NBM survey was probably the most obvious I have seen in being structured to end up with predefined conclusions. Having managed to get a doctorate I do have some experience in research design.

The widely discredited YouGov poll commissioned by the Scottish Government had a question asking whether those polled were opposed to sectarianism.

Astonishingly, only around 80% stated that they thought sectarianism was a bad thing!!!

Somewhat bizarrely this stat was used as a reason for the Act being necessary.

Believe me Mags, prayers are great, but the campaign led by FAC will ultimately lead to the repeal of this illiberal nonsense!

  8. BLANTYRETIM IS PRAYING FOR THE KNOX FAMILY, STARRY PLOUGH, yes from a poster who im not going to identify but posts infrequently, and yes but im not going to hide my faith from anybody my father and his father would be turning in their grave im catholic and will die catholic so if any posters on here wish to meet me and discuss feel free.hh.

    Thanks guys.

It’s something that has vexed me for ages. Can see it some mornings depending on visibility.

The flight path thing makes sense as a lot of the planes heading to the GAP take that route.

  11. Polls also depend on the question posed and who poses them. This makes a mega difference.

Most of us cold pose a question to the general public that would utterly demolish the OB act and receive a favourable response.

HH. Supporting your team is not a crime.

  12. I demand to know who wrote the e mail to Big Packy.

    My guess is Connaire12,

Whoever wrote it Big Packy, I would politely tell them to take a trip.

Open to all certainly but does not mean that any of us should have to water down or be ashamed of what we are . I am a Catholic, Irish Republican Celtic Supporter.

The day that me saying that is deemed unacceptable here is the day I say Goodbye to the Blog.

P.S. The Connaire12 bit was a joke, just love reading his posts & feeling his love for Celtic.

  13. For one second Kev J grabbed my attention & made me sit up then he changed guns to Huns and had me back yawning again.

  14. CORKCELT , you would know his blog name, i did not realise he was non catholic, and what does it matter a club open to all, jock stein csc.hh.

  15. Good to see a bit of debate resurfacing again on CQN. Recently it has felt like a read through a dental reception copy of the Readers Digest at times.

To have a different opinion is not a crime – at least to most on here.

  16. Starry @ 2044

At its height, not including supporting local industries, my memory says around circa 3500 direct employees of BSC Ravenscraig. I was there during the deliberate, calculated rundown by Maggie and her cohort Ian McGregor. Still hurts. Never will forget it

The paternal side of my family are / were from Bellside, Cleland, Newarthill and Carfin and mainly employed in Ravenscraig. Feelings run very deep.

Good chance we know each other via family!!

Really enjoy yer work BTW!! Good stuff.

No harm to you mate but you don’t half post some crap.

    “post the truth….deleted in seconds”?

When have you ever posted anything but repetitive drivel.

You regularly post insulting remarks about Celtic supporters. You spent most of Neil Lennon and Ronnie Deila;s tenures telling us that the no hopers and “never wuzzers” that the were regularly trouncing were better managers. You champion some of the worst soup taking, gutter dragging, so called journalists as real Celtic men but disparage men like Neil Lennon, who faced death threats and physical assault, just for being our manager.

Nobody is saying you cannot disagree with people who hold different opinions but give it a rest with the wounded innocence act and harping on about imaginary cliques.

Paul67 only asks for civility on here not conformity.

  19. Sorry STFB….

My opinion on what in particular?

Erik S – I think we can do better but wish him all the luck.

  20. NEILBHOY That post made me smile.

Big Packy, There is a huge difference between being proud of your own Faith & being disrespectful to other Faiths.

  21. I posted last night about being underwhelmed with our

activity in the transfer window, got a few replies,

I am not asking for millions to be spent but i would like us

to have a go at the Europa league,we have weakened the squad in that respect.

Players need time to bed in and anyone bought now will have less than a month

    to do so.

For those asking who i would buy and for how much,

fortunately Celtic have scouts and a management team that can decide that.

  22. Neilbhoy.

Yeah , but how can we all be right / incorrect , as an opinion can never be wrong.
