Ex-ref taunts Neil Lennon with ‘explodes’ remark

1244

I think I live in a different world than some people.  In my world the manager of Celtic has endured an incredibly stressful month.  Yesterday he would have dealt with news from a serious criminal trial after a bomb was sent to him.

Today he is being taunted in a newspaper by a former referee who suggests he “explodes at the side of a park”.  Even for a former SFA official, this is astonishingly poor taste.  The article goes on to betray enormous hostility towards Neil Lennon and, for reasons which appear opportunistic, Peter Lawwell.

Our manager will get through these difficult weeks and will hopefully never have to endure such stresses again.  SFA officials, current or past, cannot meaningfully lay a glove on him.  He can pay their fines and will continue to manage a winning Celtic team.

  1. And another thing : when 2 Loyalist thugs from a Loyalist enclave in Ayrshire can only be found guilt of ‘conspiracy to assault’ with bombs, then you have to wonder what exactly is going on?

Now,as far as I know,a ‘conspiracy’ of any kind criminal kind carries a hefty maximum sentence. So,in a month’s time,we’ll find out where the judge’s loyalties lie…or if he’s been ‘advised’ in some manner.

  2. I’m off to Ireland for a week on Sunday, might even get a night to meself, thinking of Armagh (planetarium, cathedral and all that or belfast, charlie tully’s grave, paddy’s bar and the Park Inn hotel) brilliant, what a week, can’t wait. But what I’m not looking for is ‘lennon brings it on himself’, sad.

Paul McBride, I hope we find his like again, no one better to stand up to the turn a blind eye brigade.

reminds me of a 1-0 when Coyne scored a similar goal from a McStay cross…anyone remember the game??

  5. stephbhoy,

Stan will be prayed for a lot prior to Sunday in private by so many people, and there is no better treatment than this in my humblest opinion.

Charlie Nicholas just does not get what Celtic is and unfortunately, if he needs the Celtic family to support him, when he really needs it, not financially, then I’m afraid a lot of people would not offer prayers to Our Lord to help him.

Render unto Cesar, Charlie – It’s never too late to get out of that seductive Murdoch grip you are under.

  6. One undisputed fact is that the President of the SFA has a loan via an EBT of approx. £90,000, from a member club, which, according to Murray Group has not been paid back.

This puts him in a very compromising position.

Surely, based on this simple fact alone, his position is completely untenable?

  7. I saw The Waterboys last night, and it was a brilliant evening…we were dancin’ in the aisles….it was a ceilidh!

Great romantic Celtic Rock, from a band steeped in the best of Celtic/Irish culture.

It was good to be with a huge crowd of like-minded people and to forget the vortex of evil that is Rankers.

Returned today to be brought to ground by the news of Stilyan Petrov,a great Bhoy, and a brilliant man. Our hearts and good thoughts go out to him.

Over the years I have seen his stuff, and he is as you say a proper jurno, not afraid to ask what needs be asked.

How the scum in scotland that puport to be jurnos can sleep at night amazes me, I was always brought up to do the best that I can do, at whatever I put my hands to.

I have never taken any delight in people losing their jobs, but in the case of scottish jurnos, I will lose no sleep when they go to the burny fire, tis where they belong.

  13. Holy Moly, not only did Rogan score, but he got Coyne away for Miller’s goal as well.

With the game last weekend, I was remembering this week and how my face hurt from so much smiling – but I’d completely forgotten the Rogan goal.

  14. The devil is in the detail.

How many details are required to convince those in Government, the SFA/SPL and the media of the corrupt goings on that have taken place.

If they are not going to act now they never will.

They did not act when a sectarian policy was being employed.

The question we have to ask ourselves is how much longer

do we participate in this obscene farce that is called Scottish football ?

Regan has an unenviable task on his hands. He is surrounded by duplicitous characters, who are no doubt trying to halt any progressive thinking.

I have no doubt the SFA just assumed they had hired another ‘yes man’ but I believe Regan will stick at it. I’m sure Regan has been truly shocked at the levels of corruption inside the SFA, but he has to tread carefully to make any progress at all.

Goldstarr10 …….there is noone at rfcia (pending liquidation) who’s position is tenable….they have all been rumbled big time, as have their establishment puppets ….. This is armageddon for all of them, and it couldn’t happen to a nicer bunch…

Then Scottish Football will be able to recover from a dark period….And I don’t they’ll come back …. Remember, they are supremacists, they don’t do humility / normal human behaviour…..

Just thinking about something today. Which football club is the most infamous in Europe? I know we’ll all jump in with the obvious answer, but do they fit the bill?

Its hard to be totally objective when talking about your No.1 enemy, so I’d like to approach it a different way. Any debates/arguments I’ve had in the past with huns (in work), usually ended up heated, with much bawling and shouting. So a few years ago I decided to take a more pragmatic approach when these situations arose. I asked the hun I was engaged with to trade fact for fact, with less emphasis on just opinion, which is the main cause of a friendly disagreement developing into a war of words. So on that basis, I’d like to put some facts about the hun in regards to the clubs standing in, lets call it the ‘European hall of Shame’.

    Rangers FC:

Reputation; Known throughout the world as being the quitessential Scottish Protestant club with a huge following and a haul of 54 leagues (currently under scrutiny). Famous for adopting an open sectarian signing policy for over 100 years. An anti-Catholic institution. Vigorously loyal to the British Crown, Ulster Unionism and strongly opposed to Irish Republicanism.

Fans; Making local, National and World news headlines for Sectarian and Racist behaviour and chanting. Involved in full scale riots and crowd disturbances over a 50 year period, ranging from Wolverhampton in 1961, Newcastle 69, Barcelona 72, Manchester 74, Birmingham 76, Chesterfield 80, Hampden 80, Tranmere 98, Manchester 2008. RFC were given three UEFA warnings before being served with two fines, for fan behaviour and the singing of banned offensive songs at Pamplona, Villareal, Bucharest and Eindhoven. The club had previously been banned from defending their ECWC crown after serious crowd trouble in Barcelona 72 (2 years reduced to 1). The list goes on and includes Nazi salutes in Tel Aviv and the defacing of Catholic statues in Barcelona (they must be popular there!).

The recent financial scandal engulfing the club has possibly made bigger headlines than anything before. They sit in administration with at least 5 charges against them. The severest outcome of these charges would see RFC found guilty of tax evasion and using illegal contracts, with a tax bill of around £50 million, and the stripping of trophies won during the period. The culmination of this verdict would have grave conseqences for the national game in Scotland, therefore affecting other innocent football clubs.

I’ve just stated some facts in the three sections, not my opinions. I defy any fan of RFC to dispute any of them. When you put the whole package together, it makes for grim reading. Its a damning indictment of the club. They sing the line ‘there’s not a team like the Glasgow Rangers’. How true these words are.

Sure, there are many clubs in Europe with ‘form’. Bans have been dished out to the likes of Feyenoord, Lazio and Red Star and there have been high profile cases of racism and crowd violence in Madrid and Istanbul for example.

But when it comes to the track record and overall reputation of Rangers FC, I dont think they can be beaten. Now that is an opinion.

    Marrakesh Express.

After their last visit to Barcelona, the Mayor sent a letter – which was published in the Spanish Press – complaining about the behaviour of Rangers fans in his city. In particular he complained about their urinating in Gaudi’s Cathedral of the Holy Family and ramsacking Los Ramblos. This letter was sent to Rangers Football Club and the S.F.A. but not surprisingly, it did not see the light of day in this country.
