Examining sentiment ineffective governance

587

You’ll remember the days of the season ticket waiting list. Then came the imaginary waiting list, which existed a while after seats were openly available. Now anyone can browse onto the Celtic web site and view exactly how many seats are available, and where, inside Celtic Park. It tells a fascinating story.

There’s the odd solitary seat and a few hundred with restricted views but that aside only the previously-closed part of the Lisbon Lions upper is not subscribed – and a significant number of tickets there will not include games against Newco, who are likely to ask for their entire entitlement according to league rules.

We’ve not seen anything like this since 1995 when Celtic Park reopened. Season 1994-95, at 34,000 capacity Hampden, was far from inspiring. We didn’t even sell-out a late-season game against Oldco, but Fergus had mortgaged our future on a partly-built 40,000 seater stadium, with projects underway to finish the job.

I looked at the empty seats at Hampden that day in 1995 and wondered if Fergus had blown his money. It didn’t look possible that we’d come anywhere close to filling a much larger stadium. As last season came to an end today’s ticket bonanza looked equally unlikely (although I did expect a pick-up).

Sometimes it doesn’t pay to examine sentiment too closely, just be grateful when you have it and know that it can change quickly when it’s against you.

Noting the increase in match day traffic around Celtic Park, you have to wonder how many millions of man hours will be wasted sitting in immobile cars and buses because Police Scotland no longer man traffic lights to allow spectators to leave the area quickly after events.

That’s another cost of our Offensive Behaviour’ Bill. Ponder that when you’ve moved 1 mile in an hour next season. Event-related gridlocks are another manifestation of ineffective governance. For decades police had budget to control traffic junctions at major events, not any more, in Scotland, anyway.

The following is C&P from JJSite, written by “Houdini”……..

Mainstream is self-titled drivel by those who work for someone with a printing press.

Mainstream is what the readers use and we use websites written by football fans for football fans. Profit is rarely, if at all, a reason for writing about a football club. The better blogs and websites are written by people who are far more articulate and educated that the majority of those who deem to call themselves journalists at a Scottish Sports Desk.

We, the fans, get our information from those whom we think alike (or at least aspire to think like). We awaken with our morning brew and we go to our chosen websites of the day. The SMSM rarely figure in the morning ritual unless a Jackson or Jack deal out some lam(b)mentable pishery on the fifth plane of existence.

Whilst not all those with a following can be considered informed they are nonetheless a choice that fans have decided to use over the dead print of yesteryear. These are the type of bampots who believe their battlecry is the solution to any issue rather than a statement of the problem. Many clubs have them, some clubs pander to them backed by a complicit media. The crux of the matter however is that there are too many people who see through this now which will result in the end of print and a new generation of media reporting, thanks to good people like you JJ.

The Last time that Celtic had cojones….imho.

    P.S. I fear that, Brendan will be a puppety-squirrel.

Celtic fans, it looks like yeez have been played by DD.

Bring in an EPL manager on the way down and, watch the stampede of the Wildebeasts as they queue up to be sheared by the greatest exponents in world football of, the artists who look the other way when cojones are called for.

Ye see, for Celtic to flex they’re muscles on the Res12tance issue – they have to be ‘made’ to flex them!

But, Celtic fans most powerful period has now gone – in a puff of smoke till next years renewal time.

Brendan had better have a magic-wand or,……well, yeez know the rest.

Canny get a journalist to get the truth out there.

Aye,…….Gerry McNee, the Celtic-Hierarchy have led a charmed ex12tance in your absence my friend.

As BRT&H let slip the other week….”Celtic PLC was set up by Fergus McCann to, keep the Celtic supporters ‘out’ of they’re club!”

Aye, no wonder Fergus McCann was paranoid about, Gerry McNee and Brian Dempsey.

What was it ye called them Fergus – ‘wolves in sheep clothing’ – aye,…..looks like Fergus handed the keys of Celtic’s soul to the most deceitful pack of wolves ‘ever’ to have set foot inside Celtic Park….imho.

Celtic supporters had they’re chance to save Celtic’s soul this ST renewal time but, it seems that the old jelly & ice cream gluttons have gone for the quick fix with, BR being parachuted in after no EPL clubs came in for him. Aye,………..

Emilio Izaguirre insists he intends to join up with Celtic for pre-season training in Slovenia – after revealing he has been following a fitness schedule drawn up by the club.

He told La Tribuna: “The season begins for me when I join with the team in Slovenia on June 27 – and the club have confirmed that I should be there.

“There have been no offers from any teams from other countries and I will be reporting for pre-season. I have even been following the fitness plan given to me by the medical staff.

The Australian of the Year says that the use of “guys” as a generic term for people should be discontinued. And he used to be the head of the Australian army .

Another Oz “academic” suggests the Australians are guilty of “food racism” and that we should be eating more aboriginal (Oops ,sorry ) INDIGENOUS ( the new correct term ) foods.

Marginally overlooking the gusto with which Aussies eat seafood.

Disappointed to read Stokes has left Celtic – thought he still had a lot to contribute. I thought Rodgers would ignore Deila’s assessment of him, but that looks not to have been the case.

For me, his best season was Lennon’s last, where he nothced up 21 goals and 21 assists, 1 per 86 minutes. He leaves with the best points to starts ratio of any long term player at the club.

DD holds a 15% share in the Independent Media group, which is primarily an Irish based concern, though if you read this, it does have interests worldwide:

Independent News & Media plc (INM) is a media organisation based in Dublin, Ireland, with interests in 22 countries on 4 continents worldwide. The company owns over 200 print titles, more than 130 radio stations, over 100 commercial websites and many billboard locations, and is a leading press player in five countries

  23. The problem is not The Guardian.

The problem is that Celtic have simply sat back and done nothing whilst RFC/Sevco have cheated and perpetuated a myth of liquidation denial.

Directing your ire at The Guardian might make you feel better, but we are where we are because Celtic have been so negligent in standing up to the crooked authorities.
