You’ll remember the days of the season ticket waiting list. Then came the imaginary waiting list, which existed a while after seats were openly available. Now anyone can browse onto the Celtic web site and view exactly how many seats are available, and where, inside Celtic Park. It tells a fascinating story.
There’s the odd solitary seat and a few hundred with restricted views but that aside only the previously-closed part of the Lisbon Lions upper is not subscribed – and a significant number of tickets there will not include games against Newco, who are likely to ask for their entire entitlement according to league rules.
We’ve not seen anything like this since 1995 when Celtic Park reopened. Season 1994-95, at 34,000 capacity Hampden, was far from inspiring. We didn’t even sell-out a late-season game against Oldco, but Fergus had mortgaged our future on a partly-built 40,000 seater stadium, with projects underway to finish the job.
I looked at the empty seats at Hampden that day in 1995 and wondered if Fergus had blown his money. It didn’t look possible that we’d come anywhere close to filling a much larger stadium. As last season came to an end today’s ticket bonanza looked equally unlikely (although I did expect a pick-up).
Sometimes it doesn’t pay to examine sentiment too closely, just be grateful when you have it and know that it can change quickly when it’s against you.
Noting the increase in match day traffic around Celtic Park, you have to wonder how many millions of man hours will be wasted sitting in immobile cars and buses because Police Scotland no longer man traffic lights to allow spectators to leave the area quickly after events.
That’s another cost of our Offensive Behaviour’ Bill. Ponder that when you’ve moved 1 mile in an hour next season. Event-related gridlocks are another manifestation of ineffective governance. For decades police had budget to control traffic junctions at major events, not any more, in Scotland, anyway.

Should we really be competing in the Petrofac Cup?
The beauty of them winning it is the we never would as we wouldn’t be eligible for it.
was this the ‘trick or treat ‘ killings ? Can’t quite remember.

Geordie
Wonder if they will hammer head him?
Celtic should veto the Petrofac Cup and leave it to the honourable diddy teams to have their names for ever associated.

Understand what you are saying.
However I feel that domestic cups especially the league Cup should be an opportunity for us to play our Young developing players. Other supporters differ and will always want us to win the treble with our strongest team for every game.
Maybe this can be a reasonable compromise.

if Eye refuses. The advert then there is something really significant going on
I’m currently on the fence regarding the challenge cup.
I like the idea of ‘leaving then to it” but I’m also strongly for our young guns competing in our lower leagues like many other teams throughout Europe.
This could be the first steps towards that.

Private Eye regularly posted updates on the big tax case and related issues.
As such,I’d be very surprised if the advert was refused. However it would indeed point to dark dealings if so.
Come on guys you’re just krilling it now!

On the other hand the BTC is directly related to HMRC etc whereas Res 12 is more related to football governance and Ian Hislop is well known for his complete lack of interest in football.
Suppose an inspectoral decide the charges now.

Theweegreenman,
The date for the hearing will be set on the 20th of June.
I done a wee bit research at the time of the appeal being granted and that was the date I counted it on the number of days between leave to appeal and setting of hearing date, I’m sure I also counted there was a max number of days for the case to be heard and counted the max days to make the actual hearing to be late Nov early Dec.
What a load of codswallop that story about the shark is. On the sentence, did the judge even take any time to mullet over.
What is the going rate for a 1/2 page advert in the Washington Post or New York Times?

Incidentally , it was you I chatted to outside the hootenanny in October in Glasgow ?
`Fraid , I met so many , I get mixed up .
Just how much would it cost to get a plane to fly over the opening ceremony at the Euros carrying a message re resolution 12?
How much to get a banner inside the stadium?
Would a player take a 5k payment to reveal a resolution 12 statement on a t shirt at an appropriate moment?
The Euros – how much would it cost to get Resolution 12 as the first hit on say EURO 2016

Just got this from the Guardian’s Reader Editor;
Thank you for your email. The advert you refer to was booked in before copy was seen, which is not unusual. When the first advert came in (in French) it was reviewed and the decision reached was that the tone and content were not in line with our advertising terms and conditions. When a second part of this advertising campaign came in (this time in English) it was also declined.
We remain committed to impartial sports reporting; acceptance or refusal of advertising does not in any way reflect our editorial position. Readers remain free to pitch stories to our editorial desks.
Here is the Guardian News and Media statement:
“All adverts submitted for publication are considered on a case-by-case basis to assess suitability for publication according to our advertising terms and conditions. What we need is an Edward O’Snowdon character to burst on the scene and break ranks from the SFA, SPFL, or even TRFC.
On the subject of the £5k fund for the Gaurdian advert. Many posters have commented on the relative ignorance of the issues around Res12 amongst the wider Celtic support. Others have pointed out the need to involve other supporters of other Scottish clubs, so that the whole issue is not seen as a Celtic Rangers(sic) one.
Would a flyer campaign not be a good use said funds? (possibly backed up with further fund raising) to be distributed outside the grounds of as many Scottish clubs as possible on the opening day of next season.
The issues could be fed to a wider audience this way, and it would only take one flyer to end up in front of someone who may be in a position within the media, or PR to perhaps get results.
The great lie is a form of mass hypnosis on Scottish Football fans and stakeholders. The more people that can be exposed to the counter narrative by way of antidote, the better.
Theweegreenman,
Not wishing to contradict Canamalar, but I read that the Supreme Court appeal will be heard in January or February 2017, with the result announced a month or two later.
