Fans Against Criminalisation campaign steps up

302

Fans Against Criminalisation (FAC) are closer than ever to achieving their goal of having the Offensive Behaviour at Football Act repealed. While the majority in the Scottish Parliament are on their side, the Scottish Government have gone deaf to the voice of the Scottish people in the hope they can successfully distract attention from the issue.

FAC would like you to join their campaign by emailing your MSP. The Celtic Trust have made the process easy with a link to ‘Find my MSP’ and an email template here.

Good luck to all who join the campaign.

NEW CQN PODCAST OUT NOW FEATURING TOMMY SHERIDAN

A Celtic State of Mind presents its 30th instalment of insightful discussion around the culture of Celtic Football Club, the city of Glasgow, and fans of the reigning treble-winning Scottish champions.

Kevin Graham is joined by Scotty Alcroft to interview Scottish pro-independence politician, Tommy Sheridan, at The Penalty Spot in Glasgow.

The interview took place as part of A Celtic State of Mind’s first live event – Five-a-sides at The Penalty Spot – and, as such, there is some background noise (including mobile interference – apologies) from the audience.

The other voice you may hear throughout this episode is that of former Celtic striker, Frank McGarvey, who is a friend of Tommy’s, and who was also interviewed separately that day for a future show.

You are sure to enjoy Tommy’s eclectic input, as he discusses everything from Catalan independence to Coolio, with a constant undercurrent of that thing called Celtic.

Today is a day where we celebrate the lives of two men , who in their own way fought bigotry and discrimiation, Martin Luther King junior and Cyrille Regis . Cyrille may not have had as big an impact as the former, but he helped break down barriers in football. Rest in peace Cyrille Its Martin Luther King day in America .

    Dena29,

I don’t know the background to your story, but whenever someone announces the All Clear, then all I can say is Deo Gratias.

    *I’ll second that.

I too received a variant of the stock letter from my SNP MSP, Clare Haughey, posted out rather than e-mailed.

*with a name like hers you would think she would be more sympathetic towards us but then again what do names count for anymore.

  5. Dena – I have never met you but you are obviously held in extremely high regard by many who have so really, really delighted for your news. The wait for the results must have been awful. Enjoy.

    TONTINE,

I was at Faslane Base from 1969 til 1971. Was a clerical officer in the Civilian Engineering Services Department. A small office block on the far end from the main gates, just after the Polaris School.

Played football for ESD in Base competition. Floodlights on evenings! Even played against visiting navy teams.

*As I said I don’t believe the bases had the same sectarian signing policy as the RNTF, in fact I know they didn’t, had many friends working there practicing RC’s and also Celtic supporters.

BTW do you recall a lad, might be a year younger than you, who came from Dalmuir and lost his life down there falling from a mast of some kind, he was a pretty good goalie at school.

  7. TONTINE TIM, funny thing about surnames as a kid in our lady and st josephs parish, our parish priest was father john murray, also in my class at school there were two murrays, no relation to david may i add.hh.
