Fans will be at Hampden, you can bet their lives on it

406

Politics is very much at play in football these days.  With Boris Johnson indicating yesterday that he expects up to 10,000 fans inside football stadiums from 17 May, you can expect his Holyrood shadow to propose a similar plan, perhaps a week later/earlier, as has been her way for 11 months.

If the 17 May date feels arbitrary, it is not.  Euro 20201 fixtures get underway a month later, offering populist governments a way to compare how far along the recovery road their surviving citizens are.  Governments in London and Edinburgh will permit domestic fans to attend games just in time for their flag waving opportunities.

There will be fans at Wembley and Hampden, irrespective of what’s going on in public health, you can bet their lives on it.

  1. Sad day for me , Neil had to go the results and overall play was rotten . But the bile directed towards him was Hunnish pure and simple . If the suits in the bunker had stood up for the club the way this man did we would not be in this position . Those cowards watched as we did the club going on a downwards slope and tried to rectify it by penny pinching means , make no mistake this has been coming for a couple of seasons , a situation which won’t surprise me if it goes on for seasons to come . The players cannot take any pleasure from this either , many of them should be hanging there heads in shame , they lapped up the glory then when asked to dig in decided they didn’t want to be here anymore . Good riddance as far as I’m concerned we held onto them far too long , And you know what nothing will change as long as that mob are in control of the club , the club is putrid who else would give a helping hand to your deadly rivals ,rivals who cheated you for years and still are , backing down from a football association who are helping them while hindering your club , allowing honest mistakes to go unchallenged , and then we come to the laptop loyal ,a cancer that should have been tackled years and years ago . The search will be on for a replacement manager , but you can bet your bottom dollar it won’t be anyone of pedigree . I pray to god the guy McKay has bottle and not a chip off the old block , I also hope he is not being shown the ropes by lawell . Hard times ahead for us bhoys we have a bit of catching up to regain the upper hand on an outfit who should be out of football had there crimes not been allowed to go unchallenged and unpunished .

  4. The word loyalty is used often when describing Neil Lennon, and I wonder how much thought is given by those using the term.

When managing Hibs, in the 4-2 game two seasons ago, in his criticism afterwards of the referee, Neil said that had played against twelve men, (or maybe it was fourteen).

Around the same time, just after we had been on the receiving end of a series of rank bad refereeing decisions, Celtic actually took an initiative, and were influential in arranging a get-together of managers. At the meeting, Hibs manager Lennon was appointed spokesman. It should have been a heaven-sent opportunity for a “loyal Tim” to possibly influence the poisonous refereeing culture in Scotland, raise the prospect of professional referees and, however unlikely, maybe having referees from outside Scotland. We never heard another word about it.

Whether it was within the remit, or not, any self-respecting Tim, hurting from generations of blatant refereeing, would have, as spokesman for the managers, managed some comments to that effect. Neil has never been slow in the past at getting to a microphone.

My last point is that, only recently, Neil fell in behind Gerrard in his public appeal call for fairness(!) from referees. (That’s when my parallel universe feelings started).

I have seen many managers of Celtic come and go, through triumphs and disasters, but never have I known one to be so at odds with the deep-down feelings of the support as regards “The Old Firm”.

  5. JK not my cup of tea but he has my support in the interim.

Let’s draw the line in the sand for the time being and move on.

There is work to be done both on and off the park, lets get it right on it and then look off it.

Is that one of the new changes the board have been promising :-)

  7. John Kennedy is part of the problem.

He was a defender, he is a coach , our defending is a shambles.

If John Kennedy does believe in tactics , what was to stop him inserting tactics into the training sessions?

Neil Lennon wouldn’t have noticed as he doesn’t believe in them.

We saw no sign of tactics , so we can assume JK wasn’t a fan either.

A new era, a new beginning, a new manager, a new backroom, a new squad.

    We live in interesting times.

How long before Neil Lennon is a SKY summariser ?

I’d give it 2 weeks Neil.

“We also have a dark underbelly, far to similar to the Huns across the City, and its been on display, far too often this season.”

We haqve always had Green Huns but , in recent seasons, I feel the number has grown but that might be just because Social Media makes me more aware of them.

Incidentally, why was Ten so important? Has any other team won nine twice?

I said a few months back when there looked serious discontent and disconnect in the dugout if JK had been promised a more hands on role to learn the job with the promise of taking the manager’s job after Neil had gone at the end of this season but had been slapped down by Neil.

Maybe Neil wasn’t listening to his thoughts and ideas and Neil sticking to his tried and trusted ways.

Now when it comes to fitness, we have said some of our players aren’t fit, can’t last 90 mins etc.

JK is a fitness freak. His physique is unbelievable so you would assume fitness is high on his priorities.

Unfortunately for him personally, he only has 8 games to show what he could be capable of but regardless of how it plays out, no fan will want him in situ come the start of next season.

All ramblings in my head only of course.

He’ll do whatever he’s told to do by TGD, just as Peter Lawwell did.

The question is, what does TGD have in store for us all? What is our destiny? Box and cox with the huns as part of a reinvigorated Old Firm? Trailing in their wake? Or catching up with them and hoping to overtake their record breaking 55 league titles?

  14. The situation is farcical.

If Neil has indeed resigned and not been sacked, why wait this long to resign? He should be there if Sevco win the league at Celtic Park. It’s been his management that got us here, so be the one to be there when the curtain falls.

Equally, if board paid him off, why now? The only reason I can think is on account of season ticket sales. What even precipitated the sacking now? An almost meaningless defeat to RC?

This season exposed the incompetent management of our club at various levels.

The sickening thing is this league was eminently winnable if we were decisive earlier in the year. We dropped 12 points in January alone.

Thanks for the memories Pedro and Neil. Those in the public eye assure us that you are big Celtic men, but you are each in it for yourself first and foremost with Celtic a distant consideration.

Maybe the objective that the club’s owner had in mind when he was appointed has been achieved and has been superseded by a new objective.

Such as, for instance, sell season books.

  16. Neil, thanks for the memories, it’s been a wonderful rollercoaster over 2 decades, unfortunately it was time to go and you did not recognise it. Please forgive the bile that was directed towards you by Celtic supporters, like you they just want the best for the club. GBNFLYNWA.
