Fifa, Keane, Davie Hay

And, they, gave us………. Davie Hay.  Enormous thanks to Davie Hay for coming onto the blog this morning.  It was great to read his responses on playing for and managing Celtic.  If you missed him, catch up from 09:44 here, you’ll enjoy it.

At the risk of commenting on Roy Keane when few of us know much about what happened last night….  I remain pleased we didn’t appoint him manager in the summer.  Very pleased.

Really disappointed at the outcome of the Fifa investigation into the awarding of the Fifa World Cups for 2018 1nd 2022, although, as I type that sentence, the reasons perhaps become clear.  As with all of these things, I’m specifically thinking about the Lord Nimmo Smith SPL inquiry here, football governing bodies ask the questions they want answered.  It’s not the independence of the investigator which is important, it’s who sets the scope of investigation.

You can get copies of Caesar & the Assassin, Billy McNeill and Davie Hay’s accounts of managing Celtic from Jock Stein’s departure until the appointment of Liam Brady, here.

We’re very sorry for offending ex Rangers fans, and it was silly of us to have depicted in a tee shirt what it must be like for them to have to support Sevco.

  11. Forgive me if I’m getting my dates mixed up, but didn’t white acquire oldco in 2011 for a pound. Could these arrests relate to the acquisition of the assets in 2012?

    1) Take a tub of Hundreds and Thousands.

    3) Now put them back in the tub in precisely the same order they were in before.

The analogies here are endless, but the circumstances are intriguing.

  15. David Grier and Gary Withey are two of four arrestedaccording to BBC reporter Chris McLaughlin.

The event being investigated is NOT the sale to CW but to CG in 2012.

That takes the UEFA Licence 2011 directly out the equation although both above named were involved in that, but not the IPO.

It should put the SFA in the spotlight in that they reached a five way agreement with a company that might not actually have acquired the assets of the former club by legal means.

I think you said last night that you dont do facebook well Graham Phillips vidioed reports from Donetsk are on U-tube as well. He is just a plain speaking english guy who is showing it as it is out there. Interveiws with locals -front line action and normal life stories. He is not an extreme lefty but hes someone who loves the people and the country.

Unfortunatly a justified anti -government demonstration got taken over by far right extremists(encouraged by the CIA) and its them who are now calling the shots in Ukraine.

Apart from that I dont see the problem with Russia hosting the World Cup. England complained to Fifa but it turns out they were the ones indulging in dodgy behind the scene deals.

“why did NATO expand if the Cold War was over who are they protecting themselves against, how does your argument make any sense when the facts show otherwise ?”

Geopolitics remains a staple of economic trading blocs. Nations form alliances to increase their influence in protecting their interests.

“NATO’s next inclusion was Ukraine, Russia said no and no debate, how could NATO get what it wants except by the current strategy,”

Nato offered former Warsaw Pact members associate membership in 1993. It has taken 21 years on from that for the provocative gesture to result in conflict. Ukraine was not next- Czech Republic, Poland and Hungary joined in 1999, 7 other ex-Warsaw Pact countries joined in 2002. Ukraine were refused permission in 2002 by NATO as they wanted more reforms. It was 2008 before 2 other ex-Communist countries, Albania and Croatia joined but decisions were still deferred on Ukraine and Georgia (where Russian troops were; it was actually the situation in Georgia that led to Russia ceasing cooperation with NATO). How long does Russia get to exercise a veto on the democratic will of countries it no longer rules?

“war it’s the only why the US knows to destabilise and it’s their hallmark yet this time it’s not their doing, false claims about arms and men pouring a cross the border with zero proof and you repeat that propaganda on here, why do you have proof the US military can’t find, we both know if they had it we would not be seeing library pictures or satellite pictures from media satellites that show nothing.”

In this area, we can find agreement. There has been much propaganda on both sides with false claims of troop movements and denials that all Russian Army personnel are there as advisors or on their own accord. Both imperialist blocs use propaganda and evasive denials. The great thing is that this powderkeg has not exploded. The war has not (yet) escalated in the way anticipated. Both sides have blinked. Both sides are capitalist-minded. Neither is proposing a return to Communist or Socialist rule.
