Fighting the same foe too many times

1064

Napoleon observed that no one should fight the same enemy too many times, as eventually their superior ways and techniques will become redundant as the inferior foe will eventually hit on a strategy which works.

Dundee United did reasonably well in their two games against Celtic in the last 9 days, despite playing a considerable part of both games with a man disadvantage.  They will arrive at Celtic Park tomorrow night having learned a few lessons, and hooping to compete with a full complement of players.

The danger for Celtic lies in what happened against St Johnstone at Celtic Park earlier this month.  The Perth team have won only two of their nine games since 17 January but they knew what to expect from Celtic, who were marginally off-pace, enough so to leave the field without points.  Another marginally off-pace performance tomorrow night and talk of trebles will evaporate in an instant.

If we’re vulnerable at any point between now and the end of the season, it’s this midweek.

Disagree Paul. I think this is just the type of game we need.

I always think it’s hardest coming off a big win and into a “small” game you are expected to win easily.

The bhoys will be up for this game.

  2. Sandman, that’s how I see it panning out for Wee Dick at Sunderland – if he keeps them up, they’ll want him to stay and he’ll ask for the old Blankety-Blank chequebook and pen. And he’ll probably try and raid us.

I spoke to a Sunderland season book holder this morning who is afraid, very afraid, at where this might end up for his team.

As for tomorrow night, I’m still not a Forrest fan and don’t seem him filling Johansen’s boots in a month of Sundays. Henderson may not have Forrest’s speed, but he has subtlety that Forrest can only dream of.

Did I just end a sentence with a preposition? Damn those Kafflik skools.

Hope plenty more do as you did and get along tomorrow.

Everyone bring a mate and get behind our weakened team for the hardest of the 4 games.

I really hope Celtic support shows it cares and gets along to back the team tomorrow night and doesn’t just sit whinging on a blog all night.

Winning trebles is tough enough for us in Scotland. Winnig when half your, so called, support can’t even be bothered to one along for a huge game on the journey is even tougher

Don’t pay it…..they have no power to force the registered keeper to reveal who was driving the vehicle at the time

  9. @Sandman

Flo wasn’t as bad as people made out. His record in two seasons was: 13 goals 22 games and 22 goals in 42 games. About 1 in 2.

Not to say he was worth 12 million or a patch on the strikers we had at the time. But he wasn’t useless.

It was just Murray doing his usual. We were pumping them, he couldn’t take it and got the Bank of Scotland chequebook out.

The word is that even if he keeps them up he won’t be there permanently. They have their eyes set on others like Steve McLaren.

‘Sinister letter bomber Neil McKenzie holds up fleg praising loyalist terrorists at Ibrox as he flouts lifetime ban from Rangers

DESPITE being told in person that he was not welcome at Ibrox, the hate-filled thug arranged for a friend to buy tickets on his behalf for Saturday’s home game against Livingston.

The thug who sent explosive packages through the post to former Celtic manager Neil Lennon and other prominent Catholics was banned for life from Ibrox after the Record published photos of him at the ground last week .

McKenzie then appeared to hold up a fleg praising loyalist terrorists the Ulster Volunteer Force.’

Must have some length of arms that boy. The fleg is at least 20 metres wide….

MICROmega Holdings Group Limited are listed on the Johanessburg Stock Exchange courtesy of a sponsor, Mercantec Capital. The JSE only has four hundred members and entry is remarkably easy, even for companies such as MHG with a Private Bag as their postal address in Sandton. Convictions for tax evasion are no barrier to the small enterprises who list on the JSE. MHG group chairman can even issue statements that he has no intent to in any way challenge his convictions. Can anyone imagine someone making a statement of that nature on the LSE junior AIM market? King is clearly out of his depth and delisting is inevitable. LSE AIM is not a cosy private members club hoping to lure foreign investors to small capital poor companies. Everyone who voted for King will lose everything. There has been so much misinformation on what happens on April 5 that I believe it’s appropriate to issue a list of facts for those of a sentiently challenged disposition: 1. There will be no regulation on share ownership or share transfer. Share transfer would only be viable if RIFC were planning to relist on AIM. 2. Relisting on AIM after delisting is not tenable. RIFC will enter administration and then liquidated. 3. The Rangers Football Club Ltd will continue with Dave King as it’s chairman. There will be no deduction of points. 4. The assets of TRFCL are securitised by Mike Ashley. The £5M of the first tranche was drawn and spent. The second tranche was not drawn. All simple and obvious so far? However here is the catch. RIFC will appoint a liquidator who will act in the best interests of its shareholders. RIFC is owed a figure north of £15M by TRFCL.Fees will account for circa £5M and even in the unlikely event that TRFCL paid off its debt in full, each shareholder would only receive 12p. A more likely outcome is circa 6p per share. The current board know that delisting comes with a sting in its tail. They will have much bigger problems than dealing with Ashley’s securities.

Notwithstanding the fact that the club are only opening half the stadium, 30,000 will be a very respectable turnout from the Celtic support a few days after paying up to max out the national stadium.

Don’t see much evidence of ‘can’t be bothered’? though there might be some that a fed up with the sight of DU again.

It’s very expensive being a Celtic fan what with Cup finals Euro Trips etc etc.

  22. Maybe we will see JG,start tomorrow.Maybe, just to give Dundee something different to face.I would think the midfield will be Broony,Nir,Henderson, with Commons in front.RD likes Stokes and Izzy together. Not a prediction, just thoughts.Be surprised if its far away though. If we win,the wee rest wont do Jo Hansen any harm.On Saturday,we will have Armstrong, and the wee man as well, rested and ready to go.Most important game of the season, tomorrow.

I doubt they can delist without King either coughing up to existing shareholders or screwing them by busting the company.

Either way leaves him open to legal challenges,I reckon.

Sit back and enjoy the ride.

  30. Dundee United are making a concerted effort to get VVD cited by the compliance officer.

Sean Dillon says he knew right away that Virgil had left the boot in and he was really angry at the time.

I watched the match again yesterday paying particular attention to that incident.

VVD tried to nick the ball past Dillon and hardly put any weight in the challenge at all. Dillon, trying to go through VVD, got caught by a stud probably.

Dillon never even had a second look at Virgil nor indicated there was a foul or that he was injured.

He played on for 3 or 4 minutes before realising he had been caught.
