Fit & proper waste of time

The proposed SFA rule change, that clubs must conduct an investigation into prospective new owners, went through unopposed at the Association’s AGM, currently underway at Hampden.  No formal rules must be observed during this investigation, not even the ‘Gandhi criminal rule’ postulated by (still) SPL chief executive, Neil Doncaster, so a club can look into the matter as deeply as they see appropriate and the former owner can claim he was “duped” after the money appears in his bank account.

This does not strengthen efforts to keep unfit people from owning Scottish clubs, if anything, it provides errant clubs with a defence.  Previously it was explicitly the club’s responsibility to ensure owners were fit and proper, now the club’s responsibility is limited to carrying out an unspecified value judgement.  Tune in soon to hear “We carried out an investigation consistent with best practice, why punish us?”

In this instance, value judgements are worth as much as Ibrox valuations. It’s not the rules that are wrong, the only problem is one club didn’t respect the rules and doesn’t like the medicine.

No mention yet of the dark Fifa cloud hanging over the Association. Perhaps it’s slipped their mind.

‘Time will tell mate…one thing is certain though, they are dead and will be liquidated’

Oh indeed. I personally cannot wait for that day

For Steve Clarke to come to CP he would have to take a VERY significant pay cut from what he was earning at Liverpool

Does anyone know if ol’ Charlie Green met with those angry bears this afternoon?

    You were not lucky.

Yesterday, Polish national TV shown BBC’s Panorama and Stadiums of Hate. The was after film discussion in the studio.

Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs asked UK Police for reports about UK citizens abused racialy while on holidays to Poland. Polish reports say no one was abused. UK confirmed that NO ONE was abused.

Circa 500 000 UK citizens, black, white visit Poland every year. No One.

    Remember?

When we three got to the Market Square (main place) in Cracow the was gay and lesbian parade. Did you see any abusers, see accidents?

Thats fair enough but fails to address my point about very few dissenting voices. Your innate inability to retain any facts after a game nor ruminate on such matters like disproportionate punishments for similar offences.

During meetings with fans, Charles Green has outlined plans to re-name Murray Park. #Rangers

Get it quickly from BT. If he’s on FB I go and pass him my t no.

  14. CHARLES GREEN, who is leading a consortium purchasing Rangers Football Club, issued the following statement tonight.

He said: “I had a very constructive meeting with the Rangers Fans’ Fighting Fund today and we discussed a wide range of issues.

“We are united in recognising that a successful outcome to the CVA proposal is extremely important for the club, our fans and many businesses who have dealings with Rangers. Approval of the CVA would give everyone a huge boost of confidence.

“I provided the fans with further details of my consortium’s vision for the future of Rangers. Understandably, supporters are wary given the recent past at Ibrox but I will continue to have dialogue with the fans and inform them every step of the way.

“We will be taking Rangers forward to better days and one idea I put forward today is my plan to rename Murray Park.

“Following discussions with the supporters, we will be asking season ticket holders to vote on whether to rename Murray Park as either the Moses McNeil Academy or the Davie Cooper Academy. We will be asking supporters to vote when they renew their season tickets.

“We also discussed the situation with the SFA player embargo and I made it clear that the club’s position remains that we want to see a satisfactory outcome.

“We hope that in trying to achieve this there is general recognition this has become a difficult and complex issue for everyone.”

  15. kelvinbhoy –

Nothing too sinister. One of my wife’s pals knows the 2 of you (I think). It might have been Diane & Stewart (no longer an item?) but she’s out just now so can’t confirm.

Apologies if I had you worried there and I also understand if none of this makes any sense!

  18. Brendan Rodgers to Liverpool

    Paul Lambert to Aston Villa

    Chris Hughton to Norwich City?

    Steve Bruce to Hull?

Michael Laudrup favourite to take over at Swansea

Steve Clarke favourite to take over at West Brom

    Why is that?
