Focus shifts to Pittodrie

Tonight Aberdeen play the second of a run of three consecutive away games. After overcoming St Johnstone 3-4 in Perth a week ago they are on the road to face Inverness. The Highlanders have not lost in a month, and haven’t lost at home since the visit of Celtic in November, so John Hughes men will provide a stern test for Aberdeen.

Aberdeen are back on the road to Firhill on Friday night. Their season has been free of fixture congestion. This is a rare week with two games, and an even rarer one with two away games. It could be a pivotal period in the campaign.

Celtic won comfortably in the end against Ross County but confidence seemed at a low ebb until Leigh Griffiths opened the scoring. Sentiment may have swung in our favour before we take to the field at home to Inverness on Saturday.

Your G.P. who also provides acupuncture.

Suggests a mind open to alternative medicine.

  8. I can attest to the relief acupuncture brings.

I’ve been using it for over 16 years for pain relief.

Mostly lower back pain but also shoulder and neck pains.

  9. Well looks like we have a new young player, Ajer, coming in to ‘bolster’ our squad – this young lad has been tracked by a host of European clubs – so it seems a bit of coup for us.

However we will wait for the verdict of the usual suspects’ on him, Boyata, Christie, Allan, CKR, Simunovic, Svaitchenko and Roberts – if they don’t measure-up, they will be Lawwell signings – if they make the grade like Hooper, Wilson,Ki, Wanyama, Forster, Matthews and VVD (almost £50 millions worth), then of course it will be the manager’s doing.

This is a very young squad we are building for next season with also Nesbitt and Henderson coming back from loans. I think we will sign a top notch striker in the window, within our budget of course…then if things gel, we may have the makings of an exciting and hungry squad, without scurrying around just before the qualifiers.

I think that a line will be ‘drawn in the sand’ and the likes of, Blackett, Cole, Ambrose, O’Connell,Boerrigter,Commons,Cifti, Stokes and Scepovic, either returned after loan, or sold on. We might raise around £5 million for those we can sell – this could go towards the new striker I mentioned.

Whether we have the same management team, I don’t know – but as I have said before, they will get my backing and attendance right up to the end of the season.

It’s not all gloom and doom – who knows, the sun may just about to come out.

  10. Oh what a lovely result to see as I awake… I’ll be grinning all day. Early bed last night as I knew I had an early rise :-)

Been thinking about Ronny too… It’s crazy the number of fans I speak to that really just repeat what the smsm diatribe is.

I particularly enjoy the treble, Europe and 10 in a row nonsense being forced upon us as some form of barometer for success; with the added splash of we should be romping the league.

Anyway… Ronny may have a poor European record as he is inexperienced at that level. He needs time.. And I believe he will get it right. He’s a smart man.

If you look at past managers… Lenny… Gordon… MON… even Mowbray to a lesser extent. They all had experience of Europe.

The also had far better squads, some true seasoned professionals and one world class player… Also guys who had played at the highest level.

    Ronny doesn’t have that luxury.

What Ronny does have, that none of the above had (well maybe MON at Leicester to a point) is experience of taking an unfashionable side and turning them into league winners in 6 years. That’ll do for me.

What he done in Norway was not… “aye a PE teacher!” His achievements over there I would liken to winning the SPL with maybe… Dumbarton… Livingston??

He done that by developing a young squad. What he did different was bring in seasoned Pros to help along the way – CKR anyone??

He’s now developing a young squad for us and sure… Sometimes it’s been awful to watch.. Mistakes being made… What seems strange tactics and decisions to us… But… I’d say more often than not it’s been a joy. The Aberdeen game last year at home for instance and yet we could have been 2 or 3 behind in that game before we clicked – It’s a funny old game football.

This time last year we ran inter extremely close… Gms and Stuart Armstrong were brilliant in those games… So was johansen (I call him scarlett) VVD got a dubious sending off. Suddenly these players are now “the dross from Dundee utd.”

How well are united doing without them??

I don’t believe the majority of the support give players enough time. Berget anyone?? Would we have been happy with the signing if it happened after the malmo game?

I’ve now doubt that Ronny will deliver… I just hope more of our support wake up to the msm agenda… It’s not just Smsm… as he gets it on ssn too.

I hope the board have the courage to see their appointment through… I’ll enjoy the highs and lows along the way knowing the club I love are heading in the right direction.

    That’s my belief.

A lot of my AFC supporting pals going in to meltdown re Collum – I agree he is a shocking referee- but there is a recognition that the team collapsed under pressure. Jonny Hayes is very influential so his departure last night was and may continue to be critical.

Slightly disconcerting how easily the same AFC beat us a couple of weeks ago … Thing about AFC is they have a habit of going on runs. Both good and bad. They could easily drop points this Friday.

Whatever the outcome on Friday- Celtic need 3 points v ICT at the weekend.

    MACJAY1 FOR NEIL LENNON…

Accused of racism by the holier than thou mob.

It might be an idea to finish that sentence. Accused of racism… because he wrote something racist.

Now, you may judge the calling out of racism to be ‘holier than thou’, but I disagree.

( Shades of another blogger last week )

Let’s be clear here – I’ve witnessed a *lot* of bullying behaviour on here, the vast majority of it aimed at the ‘mineshafters’. Where ‘mineshafter’ is pretty much interchangeable with ‘anti-board’ and ‘left wing’.

That doesn’t mean that any bullying is acceptable, however, there’s a huge difference between being called out and being bullied.

But, his real sin was that he was an avowed capitalist.

Kojo was a long term contributor to the blog. If capitalism had been his ‘real sin’, I doubt he’d have been on here as long. Discussions over viewpoints is absolutely fine. Something reflected in the high contrast of views currently on the blog. For the most part we all recognise that (football wise at the least) we’re on the side.

To characterise one side on here as being bullying is utterly inaccurate and unfair.

    And admitted it .

Hence the discussions. Sadly, he also refused to back down on racist hate speech.

Unlike the plethora of C.Q.N.”socialists ” who are in practice capitalists ,but don`t or won`t admit it.

Wow. The ad hominems just keep coming. Bullies and hypocrites. Any more? Cowards? Thieves? May as well push the boat out…

He was at least in his eighties , possibly nineties.

I doubt that very much. Kojo had a number of pseudonyms on here. Some quite amusing, some less so. But he was always a valued member of the community. And there’s nothing to suggest his age one way or another.

    A shameful episode.

You’re right. It was. But not for the myth you’re peddling above.

Kojo refused to take ownership of his use of hate speech. He was called out on it. Rightly in my opinion. We wouldn’t allow ‘taig’ or ‘tarrier’ on here, so why would racist epithets be any more acceptable, regardless of the character of the person posting?

Most memorable about that incident was the way that all sides of the CQN ‘family’ were pretty much united in their condemnation. Kojo *could* have taken cognisance of that. Instead he chose to opt for a Jeremy Clarkson style approach.

I have no idea if that ‘chased’ him from the blog. But it wasn’t bullying. Nor was it shameful. Kojo could have easily backed down and shown some humility. Like a lot of folk, I found a lot of his views tiresome, but that didn’t make them any less valuable than my own views, and I, like many others welcomed some opposing opinion (although, his opinion was more in the majority than mine, for example).

If you really want to look at bullying – look at the abuse dished out regularly to Neganon2. You want shameful? I’d look in that direction first – I have no idea how he keeps posting in the light of the abuse he takes. I’m glad he does though, because again, his views are refreshing and honest.

    I`ll catch the outrage mañana.

More disappointment than outrage. I’ve seen it all on here now, the Jim Davidson defence of clear racism, aka “Stop being so sensitive!”.

    /p

    —————————————————–

    Harsh. Very harsh indeed.

Could you not even try to find it within your heart to forgive Kojo for his alleged misdemeanour?

Did you even attempt to reach out and try to rehabilitate the offender in question?

    Try to help?

Maybe he just needs a little bit of cultural enrichment in his life, diversity and all that there and all.

Racism is unpleasant, it’s nasty and it’s embarrassing as well – but here, it isn’t a hanging offence.

The Christian faith teaches us to forgive.

The Communist on the other hand is without compassion. The Communist heart is both cold and cruel. The Communist is vindictive and without soul. The Communist will always seek out retribution and revenge.

Pray for the sinner, pity him even – but don’t you set yourself up as judge, jury and executioner.

    You are not God.

Too many potential Lazar Kaganovich types on here for my liking.

    Over & out.

  19. A couple of morning thoughts.

Willie Collum is an absolutely dreadful ref.An attention seeking incompetent at best.

However,I was happy to see some bad decisions result in a benefit TO Celtic for a change.

My point though is really about that nice man McInnes and his post match comments.

Could this POSSIBLY be the same McInnes who is quoted below? Surely not!!

ST JOHNSTONE manager Derek McInnes says everyone involved in tonight’s Co-operative Insurance Cup quarter-final against Celtic will be guilty of making a mistake and says he is bored by what is starting to feel like a constant focus on the performances of referees – especially in games involving tonight’s opponents.

Following another weekend of refereeing controversy, there are fears within the Scottish Football Association that several top officials will follow assistant referee Steven Craven, who, after being caught up in a furore over a decision to rescind a Celtic penalty at Dundee United last week, resigned on Monday. Yesterday, the SFA confirmed that Old Firm referee Willie Collum received threatening phone calls at his home following Sunday’s Glasgow derby at Parkhead.

McInnes, whose side take on a still-smarting Celtic at McDiarmid Park, says officials should be left to get on with their jobs. “We need to be very careful because it’s getting ridiculous,” he said.

“I can totally understand Craven’s reasons for being disillusioned. He is only doing a job and he was vilified for it. But the thing our officials have about them is an honesty. There is nothing underlying.

“The media have to look at themselves in this too. I know they have to respond to quotes and things but I’m bored with it. I know if a mistake happens people will talk about it after the match but we are talking about referees five or six days ahead of the game. It is boring and unnecessary.

“There will not be a player on the park in this cup tie who won’t make a mistake. Managers and coaches will makes mistakes, everyone involved will make mistakes. We pay too much lip service to it all.”

My 1st ever game, Davidson sent of Jinky in front of the Jungle and, I believe that 2 years earlier he robbed Mr Stein’s magnificent team of 1970 who’d just reached their 2nd European cup final, before this…Celtic had to play the SCF v’s Aberdeen and, were mibberied 1-3 by Davidson.

The worst that I can recall was JRP Gordon at ibrox on 7th Jan 1978….that date is scarred on my mind….never seen anything like it…riots up and, down the Celtic end for almost the entire game…a feckin horrible / evil / satanic / hun day….imho.

Almost everybody on here has been at a Celtic game and, been scarred / bitten by, anti-Celtic mibbery.

    But, ye know what ?

I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Overcoming the cheating / mibbery is what defines us as, Champion’s of the underdogs.

That’s not to assume, the identity of a victim.

The best retort to being ‘done’ that I have heard was from, Shane McGowan of the Pogues.

Shane was being interviewed on the BBC and, was asked why – “Fairy tale of New York” – was, mibberied out of the Christmas No 1 slot by, The Pet Shop Boys – “It’s A Sin” – Shane(hauf-pissed)….just smiled.

It was a classical-dignified retort to veiled hatred…imho.

Thing is….Celtic is the force of the underdog.

That very fact has to be – HAMMERED – into players by a Celtic member of the management team.

Wim wasn’t a Celtic-minded manager but….he had the sounding board of, Murdo MacLeod….a player who’s battling qualities v’s the anti-Celtic establishment I have not seen on the pitch in the hoops since….not even, Neil Lennon could battle like MacLeod…imho.

Murdo wasn’t a Celtic fan before he came to CP but…he’ll die a Celt….Wim won the lottery by having MacLeod to lean on.

Murdo and his ilk – HAMMERED – into the players that, when you become a Celtic player…..you can never be paranoid enough….NEVER!

The way for mangers to deal with mibbery…the Neil Lennon cage rattling way would work, if the board don’t reign you in.

Or, the Craig Levine way, were he was continually fined by the SFA for speaking out about mibbery and, he informed the SFA that, no matter how much they fined him….he wouldn’t be paying a penny!

It seemed to work for him…the SFA had to give him the Scotland managers job to shut him up!

Neil’s cage rattling was working as well but, the collusive Celtic board were never going to see it through to the bitter end by, backing Neil….nah, no the board….the went to a govt-summit and sold Celtic’s soul to the establishment and, since that day…Celtic FC has been a house of cards sailing on a, rudderless ship.

You can add another half dozen to that list.

As much as Collum was awful last night, I’m pretty sure it was more a bout of egomania than trying to help us.

He’ll feel vindicated later this week when Kenny Clark backs him to the hilt in a two page rag spread. Don’t hold your breath Collum.

  22. The significance of that result last night is massive in the respect that it’ll give our players a huge boost going into the next game. Having the better players and being favourites is all well and good, but getting a little breathing space is bound to take a little pressure off.

Similarly the support. No doubt in my mind we are the best team in Scotland, but I feel a bit more relaxed this morning.

  23. I love all these opinions from folk that would’nt know a communist if they’re life depended on it -)))

  27. How’s yer maths?

I’m reasonably good. Can find my way around some complex equations. Heavily involved in calculations in my job. I’m still trying to work out the logic behind this one though:

Take all the decisions that negatively impact Celtic and subtract all the ones that benefit us, and the answer is always a plus number in double figures?

Even more baffling, the small number that benefit us over the course of a season is usually the same number, one.

Then look at the collum inches ( see what I did there) dedicated to the ‘one’

    Baffling eh?

  28. So to simplify:

A minus minus a plus will always = a big plus, or, if you look at it the other way, a plus minus a minus will always = a big minus.

    Think I’ve got it now……….

    Your post sharing your feelings about Christianity and Communism was disappointing to read. Having Celtic as your priority over everything else, as per your blog name, you should be very familiar with what Willie Maley said;

“It’s not the creed nor his nationality that counts. It’s the man himself.”

  30. Why Collum did it, for the greater good of Scottish football.

This result proves that Celtic have no real competition since “ra gers” were, ahem, “relegated” and Scottish football needs the Ibrox based club “back” in the top tier, to make it interesting and to stop 6 in a row. How much sweeter will it be to know that next season Sevco (on a white charger) will stop Celtic’s march owards 10 in a row.

Order (and dignity) from the chaos of a sevco-free top league free of a “credible” challenge to Celtic.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t recall a reaction like this in the meeja when the refs make erroneous decisions against Celtic ………. Strange, eh … can’t help wondering why…?
