Tonight Aberdeen play the second of a run of three consecutive away games. After overcoming St Johnstone 3-4 in Perth a week ago they are on the road to face Inverness. The Highlanders have not lost in a month, and haven’t lost at home since the visit of Celtic in November, so John Hughes men will provide a stern test for Aberdeen.

Aberdeen are back on the road to Firhill on Friday night. Their season has been free of fixture congestion. This is a rare week with two games, and an even rarer one with two away games. It could be a pivotal period in the campaign.

Celtic won comfortably in the end against Ross County but confidence seemed at a low ebb until Leigh Griffiths opened the scoring. Sentiment may have swung in our favour before we take to the field at home to Inverness on Saturday.

My point was not that masons do not exist amongst the referees, or that the referees have not had it in for us, more that the choice to screw us over was personal not directed as part of some nefarious plan. The referees know they can act with impunity against us. No one in Scottish football or the media will stand up for us.

I remember reading on here that when Celtic presented the DVD of honest mistakes to Dallas, as head of referees, his response was “what are you insinuating”. We could not prove bias and Dallas was certainly not offering to root incompetence.

Game, Set and Match almost. We just have to keep on trying to beat the cheats on the field, sometimes it doesn’t work out like the Cup semi final or the Ross County game but mostly we do ok. When/if Sevco appear next season the “honest mistakes” will go into overdrive.

The point I’m making is that CL qualification is cyclical for clubs whose best players get sold because they have shown the level they are good at and gaps appear whilst new players are developed.

We are not amongst the big boys who buy the best ready made each year. Qualifying against opponents as above depends on where we are in the development cycle and where they are at the point we play them over a decisive 180 minutes to get at the CL prize money.

It was the pursuit of CL money when there was no qualifying rounds that killed Rangers, now with qualifying rounds, wisdom suggests we should be careful what we wish for.

    Celtic back Atlantic breakaway

The big domestic leagues of European football may soon have a new competitor for continental television audiences.

A Dutch plan for an Atlantic League is being backed by Scottish giants Celtic.

It would give clubs from smaller countries a more competitive arena in which to play domestic football.

Scotland’s Old Firm of Rangers and Celtic, and the Dutch big three would take part against two clubs each from Belgium and Portugal, and some from Scandinavia.

    Proposed members

    Celtic

    Rangers

    Benfica

    Porto

    Ajax

    PSV

    Feyenoord

    Anderlecht

    Bruges

“And three or so clubs from Scandinavia”

The idea’s backers believe it would give members a more realistic chance of knocking giants like Juventus, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Manchester United off the top of European football.

PSV Eindhoven president Harry van Raaij says if it does not happen, clubs from Italy, England, Spain and Germany will dominate.

And that means former European champions like his own club, Celtic, Ajax, Feyenoord and Benfica have no chance of returning to the top.

Celtic’s European hopes were ended by Lyon this season

“The bigger clubs in smaller countries will come to a position when they cannot compete with the bigger clubs from the bigger countries,” Van Raaij told BBC Radio 5 Live.

“We are planning to meet each other in order to investigate the possibilities to improve our position in Europe.”

Celtic’s chief executive Allan McDonald describes the domestic Scottish game as a “bankrupt” hindrance to the Bhoys’ plans to compete on the international stage.

“In world and European terms, we have to face the fact that we are a long way behind,” he told supporters’ website Bhoyzone.

He compared Celtic’s plight with the other big fish who are swimming around in smaller European ponds.

“The major clubs in those countries find that they have little in the way of competition to attract audiences, and that prevents clubs with ambition and huge fanbases from realising their potential.”

    Proposed structure

Atlantic League at top of overall structure incorporating premier leagues of smaller nations

Top five teams enter Champions League

“Potential promotion through league winning play-offs,” according to Celtic

The plan would almost certainly be opposed by smaller Scottish clubs, who rely heavily on the income generated by their league clashes with the Old Firm giants.

McDonald admits his support for the concept makes him an unpopular figure in Scottish football, but insists it is a reality.

“We see the Atlantic league as a way of attracting larger TV audiences, and of increasing our revenue.

“But more importantly it is an opportunity to get a better level of competition than we get at the moment, and a bigger stage to play our football on.

“In turn that will help us to attract better players, which in turn provides better entertainment for our fans.”

But in the Netherlands, Van Raaij believes recent developments mean the smaller clubs simply cannot compete themselves with their wealthier domestic opponents.

He says television revenues of Champions League clubs like PSV or Feyenoord are “eight to ten times more” than the other sides in the Dutch first division.

Van Raaij also says there is widespread support around Europe’s smaller countries for the idea, despite the extra travelling time and the lack of a common history between the participants.

Atlantic meeting: PSV and Benfica met in the 1988 European Cup final

“I have spoken with Ajax, Feyenoord, Porto, Rangers and Celtic,” he said. “They are interested, especially Celtic who are very interested.”

A meeting to discuss the plan is scheduled for February, although Van Raaij believes 2002 is the earliest possible start date.

The PSV president also admitted that European governing body Uefa would also have to be consulted about the matter, although McDonald says time is limited.

“The problem is that the pace of change is so fast at the moment in Europe,” he explained.

“There is a circle of success, and there is one of failure,” he added.

“The moment Celtic fans become disillusioned with the lack of success, and stop supporting the team in the numbers they do, we are in that circle of failure, because we need revenue to achieve success.”

    The Sevcoholic Football Monitor

Posted on October 1, 2015 by exposingtherhats

Sevcoing: An extraordinary phenomenon which has led to grown men some of whom are educated and employed babbling endlessly online that Rangers’ continued existence is the result of some sort of conspiracy. Sevco’ers believe the club should actually be dead.

This strange cultural phenomena has allowed Rangers fans many laughs but I’m starting to think I’ve missed a trick. I founded #SevcoOfTheDay which has been lapped up by adoring Sevco’ers but with hindsight I’m starting to think I may be the only person not to have monetised my exploitation of them. Even Phil with his Paypal “please replace my jacket” button has missed out to an extent it seems in comparison with a group called The Scottish Football Monitor who released a hilarious “set of accounts” last week.

This group emerged from the ashes of the now discredited Rangers Tax Case site, it was decided that the “community” attracted by that blog should live on. The title “The Scottish Football Monitor” suggests some sort of neutrality it’s mission statement below also suggests a noble cause in line with the thinking of supporters of all Scottish football clubs.

SFM mission statement – SFM is an online community drawn from fans of all Scottish Football clubs. Its overriding goal is to see sporting integrity restored to paramountcy in Scottish Football. To help achieve that SFM will ask the questions that the mainstream media consistently fail to ask of the authorities, who in turn consistently fail to govern the sport in accordance with their own rules.

Alarm bells are no doubt going off for sane readers of this at the mention of “sporting integrity” the catchphrase of those in 2012 who pressured clubs and authorities to levy completely disproportionate and unprecedented penalties on Rangers following their insolvency.

Further reading of the blogs and comments confirm these suspicions to be correct with the content not actually reflecting a community drawn from fans of “all Scottish football clubs” more a collection of the flat earthers who peddle the “Ranjurs are puir deid” conspiracy theories along with the group of Celtic fans who are pursuing the bafflingly daft “Resolution 12”. For anyone who isn’t aware of Res 12 get yourself up to speed as there are serious laughs to be had. It’s a group of Celtic shareholders who desperately want Celtic Peter to sue SFA Peter over what they believe to be an administrative rule breach which deprived them of a Champions League place they failed to win on the park. Their ultimate goal is for the SFA to be disbanded and replaced with a new one…..humorously they seemed confused as to why Celtic Peter is loathe to relieve SFA Peter of his duties in this way.

All of this in itself is nothing out the ordinary, Sevcoing of this type is rife on the internet what is utterly spectacular is the accounts released by the SFM showing the extent of the financial benefit to the site’s owner John Coles. As you can see from the accounts below John’s particular brand of Sevcoing has been particularly lucrative.

    http://www.sfm.scot/…budget-2015-16/

Some key points to clarify on these accounts:

They have 51 loyal subscribers, Mr McMurdo Jnr should be onto these lads for tips as it’s a stunning 10 times the amount he ever managed to get signed up to the RSL.

They make over 10k a year from donations and advertising.

They now incredibly rent an office in central Glasgow at a cost of £5460 per annum

They have procured a 10k loan(sadly nobody went to a bank and said “can we get a loan cos erm ye know zombies anaw that”) The loan is in fact actually not a cash loan but a promise from John Coles that he’ll fund the operation up to a total of 10k if they run short.

On first glance this whole set-up is bizarre and raised many laughs on social media when first released, dig a bit deeper and it gets even better though. Mr Coles, a former employee of Celtic Football Club now runs a company called Heavenly Sound Media a web applications company based in Glasgow. I’m told they are actually quite good at what they do, I’m also told they now operate rent free from the offices paid for by the SFM.

To revisit the £10k loan which has never been paid into SFM accounts, essentially it means Mr Coles will pay the rent for the offices used by his other company if he can’t find enough gullible morons to donate it to him. A Machiavellian act worthy of anyone who has graced the Ibrox boardroom in recent years, the hilarity of it all is added to by the fact he’s confirmed he isn’t even a Celtic supporter anymore. The loveable rogue tore up his season ticket enraged when Rangers survived in 2012 and hasn’t been back since.

    Message for Barcabhoy/John James

Many of you may have seen much wailing from the Scottish Football Monitor poster who writes under the name of Barcabhoy(Celtic Fan) and John James(Rangers fan) at the fact I “outed” him on twitter in this way. My advice to this gentleman is if you’re going to pester journalists with “stories” about Dave King, make sure you use a different email address for each alter ego when contacting writers who work for the same organisation. Also I’d like to point out that despite your moaning about breaches of confidentiality I’ve not at any point released your real name as I could have. The only point I made on that front was that you are not David Low as many on social media have suggested. Despite the many differences I have with David I have to confess he’s bright enough and sane enough not to spend hours each day pretending to support a team he hates.

To summarise we have small businesses managing to convince people to fund their running costs in the name of “Sporting integrity” and Celtic fans leading double lives in order to out Paul Murray as an evil Newco garden centre owner…..Anyone would think the Rangers were coming.

    ============

The one thing that has come from the end of Rangers is the total untrustworthiness of our media.

    Two examples.

When the COS ruled ebts unlawful I offered two mainstream journos after Twitter DMs the full and condensed narrative concerning the HMRC letter of 23 Feb 2011 that should have been provided to Harper MacLeod by Rangers Administrators in which Rangers guilt in respect of the early DOS ebts was set out in such a fashion that Harper MacLeod were unable to counter the claims made to them that the failure to disclose that letter nullified LNS findings.

There was quite a bit of reading so that was the excuse from one journo for inaction.

Eventually a meeting was set up with him with a fellow blogger after which the story was condensed to four paras and put on a plate.

He never got back formally but eventually said on Twitter the story was not good enough.

This in spite of a fellow journo telling me 6 months earlier it stood up (but did not publish) or the fact that Harper MacLeod were unable to refute a story vetted by a lawyer before Harper MacLeod were asked questions.

The other journo agreed to a meeting with myself and a fellow blogger after Xmas but cancelled 20 mins after we were due to meet and has remained incommunicado since.

Something or someone has a hold over our media. It’s not just intimidation it has to be more than that to keep the lid on.

However journalism extends beyond Scotland and the lid on the whole can of worms will come off after the trials.
