Tonight Aberdeen play the second of a run of three consecutive away games. After overcoming St Johnstone 3-4 in Perth a week ago they are on the road to face Inverness. The Highlanders have not lost in a month, and haven’t lost at home since the visit of Celtic in November, so John Hughes men will provide a stern test for Aberdeen.
Aberdeen are back on the road to Firhill on Friday night. Their season has been free of fixture congestion. This is a rare week with two games, and an even rarer one with two away games. It could be a pivotal period in the campaign.
Celtic won comfortably in the end against Ross County but confidence seemed at a low ebb until Leigh Griffiths opened the scoring. Sentiment may have swung in our favour before we take to the field at home to Inverness on Saturday.

Have the masons set up the grand lodge in Inverness?
Ridiculous hand ball last year, dubious penalty tonight and got away with a couple of penalties against.
Weeping and knashing of teeth in Larkhall tonight.
Owen
You are right in what you say. When most of them are inclined the same way, they can’t help but do what suits the Huns or disadvantages us.
Catholic refs on the other hand must bend over backwards to ensure they are not seen to be giving us the benefit of the doubt.
I was told this by a former grade 1 ref who comes from our side of the fence.
Night All. Counting sheep.

I didn’t think tonight’s result was ever in doubt, not in my opinion anyway.
Exert a little pressure, and pop, a bubble bursts.
The result on Saturday helped cause that tonight.
Goodnight from a cold clear Germany,

Absolutely……………………………….. Owen nailed it @ 11.21
The referees do not all sit around a table discussing how to screw over Celtic but they do know that if they make a mistake or act out of malice against Celtic then there will be no consequences for them to worry about, no adverse press reaction etc. However make an error elsewhere and all bets are off
Lets see what happens CSC
OWEN…Agreed 100

Check the photo of John Greig and Tiny Wharton…Google it.
Id say that rather undermines your argument.

MACJAY1 FOR NEIL LENNON…
Feb. 16 and we`re all hanging on the Aberdeen score.
The ultimate indictment.
Certainly, it gives a decent indicator of our shambolic season. And like you, I’m pretty uncomfortable that I was dreading tonights game.
I don`t hate Ronny.I`m sorry for him.
It seems to be a weird theme on here that if you think the manager isn’t good enough you’re a “hater”. I expect I’m exactly the same as you – desperate for *any* Celtic manager to be an unqualified success and win everything going. I don’t think Ronny’s got it, but it doesn’t mean I hate the guy. Or even dislike him. I just value Celtic more than I value Ronny. If Celtic need to be shot of Ronny for success? So be it.
Not sure I eel sorry for him though. Every time I feel a pang like that a rumour usually follows quickly behind regarding the team discipline, making me worried more than pitying.

I responded to you simply because you referred to “Ronny haters” and I feel it reasonable to assume that I would have been included in that description.”
Not Guilty Guv.
My post was on your mid-Feb point. Now that I don’t fall at the hurdle you imposed, you might just have to answer the point

Re Mr Wharton , followed a long line of the Brotherhood, and as we all know it remains to this day, however it is all the sweeter when the Grip is lost.

Did Willie Collum’ s parents have a sense of humour (or a premonition) when they ensured their son had two names that might be used to refer to a male reproductive part?
Celtic stay six points clear in our shambolic season

I must be a Ronny hater as well.
Like you, i dont think we should be having to rely on ICT…we should be miles ahead.
Results dont lie.
HH
PAPA JOHN
As if we dont know the historical reality.
We have to have posters telling us….that their isnt bias against Celtic.
Sheer nonsense.
There certainly is…..and for a long, long time as well.
HH
I thought ICTs penalty was a definite pen, studs showing, reckless challenge. Ash Taylor never complained that tells the story.
In saying that Aberdeen should also have had two penaltys second half, I thought ICT deserved the win and I’m pleased for Yogi.
This is a great chance to put real distance between the Dons and cement our quest for 5 iar, I will celebrate this title with great vigour if it happens as it’s not been easy this year for many reasons.
I think part of the MSM spin (straw clutching) for tomorrow will be that this proves that Celtic have no real competition since “ra gers” were, ahem, “relegated” and Scottish football needs the Ibrox based club “back” in the top tier, to make it interesting and to stop 6 in a row.
That’s why Collum did it, for the greater good of Scottish football.
GGH-Kevin Clancy has proved your point at CP in the last few weeks.
Maybe Colum will apologise to Mcinness for not giving Aberdeen two penalties.
That will make everything ok.
People who think there isn’t refereeing bias against Celtic, can’t have been watching the same games as me, at Celtic Park or on the telly.
P8DDy and TGM
Why should you feel we should be well ahead in mid- February?
Are we usually? Is this a reasonable expectation?
Or is it just because we are missing an Ibrox team that this expectation becomes applicable?
P.S. P8ddy, I was far from dreading the result tonight. But, contrary to many, I was still delighted it went the way it did. An upset for our closest rivals is always a good thing, even if they don’t happen to be Sevco.
But, if the Dons had won, my dread would still be absent and I would just have moved on to the next match. If they had made it 14 games unbeaten tonight, I would still have expected their bubble to bust this year. But that gets called complacency on here. Just as well I have a wee bit of resilience or I might be calling out the posters who say so for bullying me or censoring me or stifling debate or in someway infringing my rights.
No fear from me but plenty of enjoyment.

The real stories are always best. As Dallas alluded, neither Paul nor wonderkid McLeod are doing much at Cliftonville or Brentford.

Why do you always resort to that….’Or is it just that we are an Ibrox team..etc
Cant you just accept that we havent played well this season?
There are no agendas…other than seeing a better Celtic team n the park,…its that simple.
We should be doing better…we have much better players in comparison to other Scottish teams.
Do you want Celtic to be equal in quality to say Inverness…or should we be better?

Yes…it is a reasonable expectation for us to be leading comfortably.
Considering our advantages in relation to better players.
IMO we should be romping that league.

SETTING FREE THE BEARS FOR RES. 12 & OSCAR KNOX…
Why should you feel we should be well ahead in mid- February?
Considering where expectations were set at the beginning of the season, I’d expect us not to be in a dogfight at this stage. Start of season the talk amongst the great and good (not I, I hasten to add) of 10 in a row. Of European tests. We failed badly in Europe, and given our resource disparity? I’d fully expect us to be more than in control – especially given Europe is not a distraction.
Are we usually? Is this a reasonable expectation?
In truth? From a historical standpoint, I just don’t know. But the years before Ronny have saw us comfortably ahead of the pack (discounting Rangers).
Again, given the resource advantage we have, I absolutely think it’s a fair expectation.
Or is it just because we are missing an Ibrox team that this expectation becomes applicable?
We can only compete in the arena we have. Personally I’ll be happy if I never set eyes on Rangers again. I don’t think we’re missing them, but I do think the club have let standards slip because they’ve been so arrogant.
In resource/reward terms we’re not a million miles away from Rangers now. Their only recourse over many years was to rely on having the biggest gun. If they’d a problem? Throw cash at it. And we’re now not too different. An incapable manager who, in my opinion is basically ahead because he can outspend his nearest competitors by several hundred percent. And that huge cost differential has us 3 points apart.
P.S. P8ddy, I was far from dreading the result tonight. But, contrary to many, I was still delighted it went the way it did. An upset for our closest rivals is always a good thing, even if they don’t happen to be Sevco.
Likewise. I laughed at the score. :) But I was dreading it beforehand. Now of course the idea I was dreading it seems a bit silly, but only because I know the score and know we’re in the driving seat again. And I’d much rather Aberdeen were our rivals. I don’t miss Rangers at all. Not a bit. If I never see or hear of an ‘old firm’ game again I’ll be happy.
I’m genuinely happy you see things that way. I wish I did. I hope I feel more like that before the season end.
As for the bullying? Us ‘mineshafters’ are lovely. And come the revolution you can share in the wealth. ;)

Thats the problem with not living in Scotland. Cant keep up. I didnt even know Celtic were playing tonight! 3 points in the bag! Yippeee! Well done Ronny!
Masonic handshake 100 years ago…Really…
Seem to rememeber s pic of greig givin mcneil the same handshake, not that i think it was reciprocated by mcneil, but maybe a few from Celtic at that time would have…..Maybe..
