Focus shifts to Pittodrie

Tonight Aberdeen play the second of a run of three consecutive away games. After overcoming St Johnstone 3-4 in Perth a week ago they are on the road to face Inverness. The Highlanders have not lost in a month, and haven’t lost at home since the visit of Celtic in November, so John Hughes men will provide a stern test for Aberdeen.

Aberdeen are back on the road to Firhill on Friday night. Their season has been free of fixture congestion. This is a rare week with two games, and an even rarer one with two away games. It could be a pivotal period in the campaign.

Celtic won comfortably in the end against Ross County but confidence seemed at a low ebb until Leigh Griffiths opened the scoring. Sentiment may have swung in our favour before we take to the field at home to Inverness on Saturday.

His foot was high, contact doesn’t have to be made for a foul to be committed, the intent was there, the ICT player lost his balance and fell over due to the intent, so it was a pen according to the rules.

  2. Green man it’s quite fascinating. If it’s Celtic then it’s the old we should be good enough to get over it and it’s all honest mistakes. Very different if it’s not.

It’s all very clear the racism.

But as you can see uber nats like BGX need to be able to find a reason to ignore it!

Is dangerous play with no contact in the box not an indirect free kick?

Perhaps, but in this incident we are discussing,he led with his studs at eye level, and did make slight contact.

Sorry. Just because Gollum had a howler in a non ‘tic game is not proof or even a hint that the FRATERNITY (their word) is not corrupt morally and practically.

  10. Last season I watched Collum ref the game between Barca and Ajax, I reckon he called everything right on the night, maybes when they are under the real spotlight, they arny that bad.

  11. Neg

That is my exact paranoid thought about Collum tonight. Heard Richard Gordon and the ex ref Willie Miller start the Collum witch hunt on Radio Scotland after tonight’s match. Never heard any of the honest mistake refs we get, being ridiculed and laughed at like Collum was tonight. They even issued a warning to the Euro finals that this ref was going to France to award crazy decisions. :)

    Magic, they are rattled! :)))

  12. Evening Delaneys.

I noticed the msm cutting Collum adrift over the last year or so. Perhaps he has gone off message at the sfa.

And of course his religion won’t help.

Traditionally…we have always had to have the talent to overcome the honest mistakes.

When we dont have that strength….we cop loads of honest mistakes.

I noticed a few weeks ago on tv….Scottish ref spokesman complaining that refs get too much stick etc…how difficult it is etc.

Not a coincidence in my view.

    Ulterior motives at play.

Refs can change games….they are well aware of that fact….and they use it.

Too much of the Brotherhood type stuff in refereeing.

I responded to you simply because you referred to “Ronny haters” and I feel it reasonable to assume that I would have been included in that description.

From there we are on the same old argument and counter argument without resolution.

    Frankly boring.Don`t you agree?

I don`t support Ronny because I support Celtic.

I feel confident that we will win the League with points to spare but I welcome the challenge from The Dons. We need a challenge to improve our players. It should be welcomed but not feared given our resources.

My thoughts on the two games you mention are:

They were in two different tournaments. There would have been greater cause for worry if they had both been league matches.

We were very unlucky in the Cup semi v Ross County. We scored early. Efe then had a header cleared off the line. In that opening 10 minutes Leigh Griffiths first touch let him down on 2 occasions inside their box or he would have been left in 1-on-1 situations against their goalie. It looked as if we would annihilate them and then Efe got sent off. When you’re down to 10 men so early on in a game it’s going to be difficult. RC had their tails up and beat us. It happens in cup games. No complaints.

In the Aberdeen game, the Fond looked terrified for the first 20 minutes. Celtic totally controlled the game until Hayes scored a wonder goal against the run of play. We didn’t handle the match well after that and we’re lucky to only lose 2-1. For me, we were playing away from home, midweek against a good team who are our nearest challengers in front of a large hostile crowd. They have still to come to our place and face a large hostile crowd and a Celtic team who are reigning Champions. I remain confident.

  19. Raised foot that’s why the penalty was given. I wonder what Dick Gordon’s would have been if it was for Aberdeen at the other end.and the big Aberdeen Centre Half was having a nightmare. but I think that rule raising your foot ,needs to be scrapped. after all Football is a contact sport.Celtic we will need to be on our toes on Saturday, big yogi has them well drilled.also I think Patrick Thistle will take a point from them on Friday, and I’m sure that was the Green Brigade in disguise in the Caley Thistle end ,

Of course it was. Can you imagine if Efe had done that?

    Exactly,spot on.

You know I have read more criticism of Colum on here than I read about Thompson or the cheats McLean and Muir.

So his decisions were iffy,so what good on him, tough shit.

Last Saturday’s game v R C was an ideal rehearsal for the ICT game.

Both teams play a similar game of tidy passing combined with brute strength.

Aberdeen floundered in continuing with the long ball and after they lost Hayes, their game fell apart.

It may be that their title challenge lies in Ash(es Taylor).

We matched RC’ s commitment and stood up to their thuggery.

We will need to do the same v ICT.
