Football’s better without manipulation

782

I’ve no fondness for Stuart McColl but I’m disappointed the wheels have fallen off Motherwell’s bogey this season.  Delivering two consecutive second place finishes in a league populated with mostly better finances teams was exceptional.  Over the last three years they have lost players instead of paying money they couldn’t afford, otherwise they would almost certainly be challenging at the top of the table.

I like Gordon Strachan.  One of the things I like about him is he is almost impossible to get on-message.  Talk about manipulating football in order to get the ‘right’ teams in the top division is ludicrous, Gordon knows this, or he wouldn’t have used a word like “manipulate”.  On a substantive note, I think he’s wrong on this point.

The game changed when Rangers were liquidated, and it changed again when Hearts and Hibs were relegated.  Fewer people buy tickets as there is not genuine competition for the league title, but some things we can do without.

Scottish football survived without the ticket money these clubs brought them, and the country’s streets, pubs and A&E departments have benefited from not having to cope with the sheer hassle we used to put up with.

I’ve enjoyed our four lower tier-only games this season, they were atmospheric and entertaining.  If this was our future, I’d bite your hand off for it before I’d want to go back to the old ways.

Celtic, Motherwell, Aberdeen and the rest are defined on their own merits, and many of us are enjoying our football.

The right thing to do was to have said “no feckin’ way” to the ‘5 Way Agreement’. We did not; neither did any of the others. We live in the crappy shadows cast by our endorsement of the Scottish Declaration of Deceit.

An agreement that the hun never had an intention to honour and of which Sir Charles of Normandy belatedly decried an illegal document and all the powers of the land did nothing. And all those – ENDORSERS – post their silent complicity, scuttle from one shadow to the next avoiding the light and their moral and ethical obligation to tell the truth.

In the meantime, nothing has changed, the game is still corrupt and those who make most coin from the corruption are still raking it in and the Kings of Deceit will soon retake the throne and we will pay homage at the expense of our families Dig deep bhoys Campbell needs new tyres for his Bentley and the Cardigan is comming to tea..

Thanks for that post at 8:51. I would hope it would show some that the ” just tell the truth” plea is not as simple as it sounds.

It is my experience that when people give simple `solutions` to complex issues, then those people are invariably wrong. Your post might help some realise that.

    Sorry, but that’s nonsense.

It’s the equivalent of the huns saying ‘so long as we think it’s the same club, it’s the same club’.

If the football authorities are treating them as the same club, and Celtic don’t publicly and unequivocally disassociate themselves from that position, then they are endorsing it.

In the words of Kevin Keegan, I would love it…..absolutely love it if this much vaunted “Old Firm” game did not take place because Sevco had gone out of business before then 0:-))

I don’t care what they call themselves or what we call them BUT what I want made clear is that they were formed in 2012 and have just over 2 years history , during which time they have won two lower division titles .

That should be down the the SFA / SPFL / UEFA etc .

It was a true and honest opinion of how I read PL thoughts on making a comment on the situation over at thems, he is genuinely concerned about one thing and one thing only, our safety, and that makes his position easy to read for me, and he has my full backing, for what ever that is ;)

Its not complex, the club was liquidated thats a simple truth, there is no problem in stating a simple truth

What is complex is the layers of deceit, falsehoods and corruption in telling the world that the entity which was Rangers1872 died is still alive

    I prefer the simple truth

PL and the club are not endorsing it, they just won’t comment on it for the safety of our fans, you on the other hand care not a jot about the fans, that’s why PL sits in the big chair, and you and HUNS toss rotten fruit at him. Honestly it beggars belief, I’m off to a doctors appointment, I need to get some anti Ernie pills ;)

Sevco shares rising again today. Up 30% this week so far. Tiny volumes certainly but have the financial gurus any theories why this would be happening?

  18. TD67 with respect I’m sure you will tell it as you hear it but I would prefer to to read what was actually said and makeup my own mind. Hail Hail Hebcellt

    Yes I do .

Ignoring their attempts to claim they are the same club hasn’t stopped them as you know , you raised the point yourself last night about buses being bricked at bridgeton x .

PL is in a no win situation regarding making a comment about a NEW club but as I said in my earlier post the SFA / SPFL and UEFA should be making the position clear .

It is my view that the lies deceit and corruption are the road to tragedy JJ, take Iraq i know i have jumped into geopolitics but the analogy is relevant, in your mind you have drawn a direct correlation from a Celtic FC statement stating a simple truth to tragedy, thats your take on it, its obvious Celtic FC will never make that statement on the simple truth, can you now guarantee no tragedy in the future ?

  21. TD, & HT,

thanks for sharing your perspectives of the meeting very interesting & informative.

Could I summarise PL & the plc stance as “we are saying nothing because we want to protect individual Celtic supporters from harm”.

And could I then say that that doesnt matter.

Celtic fans , Players and Managers have been getting attacked , assaulted and bombs in the post , regardless of how meek the plc speaks on anything.

They , the various shades of Rangers, hate anything Irish, Catholic, Celtic, Nationalist, Students,

    They are what they are.

Celtic fans will be in the attack line whenever and where ever the match is played.

Celtic PLC should state its a new club.

I work for a big company. When the shares creep up for no apparent reason there is usually a redundancy package offer on the horizon.

IMHO, The guy Ashley has put at the steering wheel will be informing how much in the wage bill is excess and can be trimmed.

I would imagine the transfer (out) window will be busy at Ibrox this upcoming window, they are NOT football folk in charge, they are after the best bottom line possible.

  23. Bhoys, apologies for my post at 09.05, it was not directed at HT or TD67 or anyone else that attended, the point I was trying to make , poorly :-)

How do Celtic get the positives from these meeting taking place, out to normal fans who are huge are hugely frustrated at what is taking place with our Club ?

I being one, considering whether to renew my 2 season tickets, need positives from Celtic.

Not sharing this detail, does not help me

And I do not need or want an invite, but would like to know what is taking place

And finally just for info, my view, Celtic missed the boat in Aug 2012 when that other new Mob, where given a licence to play in division 3.

A welcome to the new club at that time would have sufficed

No point in saying anything now, too late

    Hail Hail

i hope you read this poor attempt at an analogy .

i got married in 83 , since then i have never looked at that we bit of paper that made it legal since

if my wife leaves me for another partner , my kids will still be mine till the day i die and that wee piece of paper means nothing , historically and emotionally , Rangers will always be Rangers to me because of their kids ( fans ) what i’m trying to say is , it for me does’nt matter what PL / Board say , the most repugnent part in all of this remains , their fans and the SFA , god forbid we helped them survive , if so , game over for me .

    ps.

hope you can make sense of this , i know what i mean in my head lol ;))

  25. My friends in Celtic,

“If it looks like a Duck, swims like a Duck then it must be a Duck”

Wrong; We know the truth along with a motley selection of others, like a well known QC, a former captain, a former manager etc.

However to everybody else it’s a Duck, the same Duck. Sad but true.

There is no pleasing some folk.

Does a business publish the minutes of meetings that might contain information that could be used against it by a media all too ready to do so?

The same complaint was made of the first meeting by so in order to try and balance the need of prudent discourse different folk were invited to attend this time.

At the last meeting it was agreed by attendees only Action points and follow up would be published. I assume this applied this time.

The complaints after the last meeting were listened to and an attempt made to address yours, whilst still being prudent.

The SLO has a difficult job trying to please supporters who don’t want to be pleased.

    It must get tiring.

  27. Another day of certain people preaching to others about the evils of the semi final game. How fans should not go.Letting us all know for the umpteenth time THEY wont be going.

Its like Mormons coming to your door every day, telling you where you are going wrong.

If you dont want to go,ok,we get it.We now know your reasons,we have been told ,ad nauseum.

If there are people out there who think, with this game coming in 3 months, that it would be fine for PL or Celtic as a club,to come out and throw petrol on the fire by publicly stating anything about Sevco, then sully yourself.Take a look on hun media,at the reaction to RDs comments about them not being the strongest team in the semis.Even The Bad Singing Lawyer, getting vile abuse.A frenzy of hatred being whipped up.

Tony Donnelly is right.Better silence and lives saved, than statements issued to appease some of our fans who seem to require Celtic to issue out comfort blankets to them.

  28. So PL states that Celtic cannot comment on Sevco being a new club out of concern for the safety of the fans.

Surely that in itself is worth an official press release along the lines that “Celtic football Club cannot issue any comment on the status of Rangers football Club due to concerns about the safety of our fans” That would do it for me.

  29. Neil canamalar Lennon hunskelper extrordinaire on

How can a board who accepted the 5 way agreement make a statement in contravention of that agreement, some people are very naive.

  30. So CFC cannot say the truth re Sevco? Ex Chairman Findlay,ex Manager Smith ,and ex Captain Gough say they are a new club.Celtic say it,and there will be ‘civil unrest’, and we get the blame? Aye,that’s about right.

I would say that it’s the involvement of MA. Even the fact that he’s putting the minimum in to keep the ship stable until he sorts things out will bring more confidence than others who promised much but brought little. He’s also done it without diluting the shares.

Trundling along making some (or losing as little as possible) is far better than an Icarus like attempt for the sun and then going bust again.
