Football’s better without manipulation

782

I’ve no fondness for Stuart McColl but I’m disappointed the wheels have fallen off Motherwell’s bogey this season.  Delivering two consecutive second place finishes in a league populated with mostly better finances teams was exceptional.  Over the last three years they have lost players instead of paying money they couldn’t afford, otherwise they would almost certainly be challenging at the top of the table.

I like Gordon Strachan.  One of the things I like about him is he is almost impossible to get on-message.  Talk about manipulating football in order to get the ‘right’ teams in the top division is ludicrous, Gordon knows this, or he wouldn’t have used a word like “manipulate”.  On a substantive note, I think he’s wrong on this point.

The game changed when Rangers were liquidated, and it changed again when Hearts and Hibs were relegated.  Fewer people buy tickets as there is not genuine competition for the league title, but some things we can do without.

Scottish football survived without the ticket money these clubs brought them, and the country’s streets, pubs and A&E departments have benefited from not having to cope with the sheer hassle we used to put up with.

I’ve enjoyed our four lower tier-only games this season, they were atmospheric and entertaining.  If this was our future, I’d bite your hand off for it before I’d want to go back to the old ways.

Celtic, Motherwell, Aberdeen and the rest are defined on their own merits, and many of us are enjoying our football.

The right thing to do was to have said “no feckin’ way” to the ‘5 Way Agreement’. We did not; neither did any of the others. We live in the crappy shadows cast by our endorsement of the Scottish Declaration of Deceit.

An agreement that the hun never had an intention to honour and of which Sir Charles of Normandy belatedly decried an illegal document and all the powers of the land did nothing. And all those – ENDORSERS – post their silent complicity, scuttle from one shadow to the next avoiding the light and their moral and ethical obligation to tell the truth.

In the meantime, nothing has changed, the game is still corrupt and those who make most coin from the corruption are still raking it in and the Kings of Deceit will soon retake the throne and we will pay homage at the expense of our families Dig deep bhoys Campbell needs new tyres for his Bentley and the Cardigan is comming to tea..

Tell me, if you have seen categoric evidence that the hun cheated all, and the powers that be were made aware of it, and did nothing… and the media were not interested… then why did you not send a copy to the police and to the City of London Police?

    (okay I know)

    Auldheid,

Something I thought you understood, the resolution was not voted down because of any agreement on the issue but because their stewardship and their commitment to the protection of all shareholders interests was being questioned, this required them to prove to us representing the required amount of shareholders to force a resolution that they were/are protecting our interests. Dont dress this up any other way.

    =================

Not sure where you got the idea I did not understand that. It certainly was the clincher but being told the background to the actual licensing process in 2011, which the Res wished to be investigated, played its part too.

They’ll only win if we lead, or are a willing party to, a national capitulation. Are we really whores to the dollar? Do we have no cultural pride left flowing through the stadium? Have we become a caricature of that which we detest and decry even to, and on, this day? Are dividends accredited more consideration and glory than the culture of the support?

There comes a time when there is no place left to hide and you have to stand your ground. For me that day was the day of the Summit following the so-called ‘shame game’. We showed up to doff our caps and acquiescence when we should not have legitimised it with our presence, after all, it was not our team or support that shamed the game and the nation that night. Consequential to that gross error of judgement we compounded it by accepting the terms of the 5 way agreement. We were shafted then and we will continue to be shafted until the majority of our support, along with aid from other clubs supporters, stop talking and start bringing pressure to bear by action.

If you have been following the articles on TSFM with letters to Harper MacLeod and their responses, you will see that no one has argued against the evidence based case that the LNS Commssion was lied to and so misled by Duff and Phelps and on the face of it Campbell Ogilvie.

The SPFL know it, Harper MacLeod know it and the SFA now have had it dropped in their lap. There is a similar bit of evidence on its way under Res12.

If both packages are ignored, unless supporters of all clubs threaten another ST postponement, it will all be swept under the carpet.

“I don’t see what benefit a statement from Celtic would bring and I don’t fancy the consequences. It would have to be from all clubs via the SPFL/SFA by forcing them to do the right thing.”

First of all I want to thank you for all you’ve done to try and expose the truth and push for change. However I disagree with the above sentence.

Celtic are the leading club in Scotland both commercially and on the park, for me this puts us in a unique position. Real change comes from real leadership and not from leading from behind. As a club we have been cheated more than any of the other, therefore it is our place to lead and push for changes to our game. So far we have kept silent, so is it any wonder others also keep quiet?

Personally I believe there is no desire whatsoever from our club to shout cheats, voice displeasure or even call for root and branch changes. Reason for this is it’s all about the bottom line and looking back on what should have been will not bring in future revenues. Basically there is no profit in the past and our PLC’s commercial decision is to ride out the storm, wait for the Huns and over a period of time the fans will soon return to previous levels

I think they might be in for a huge shock, as there are fans who will never accept the status quo. Yes we will all continue to support Celtic but not like before. Instead of buying Birthdays and Christmas at club shops our hard earned will go elsewhere. Season tickets will be permanently down and never mind Sevco, our club is unlikely to ‘fully’ recover if we are thought to have been complicit in any way.

DD, PL and the club need to realise that keeping schtum is unacceptable for many many supporters. We should be shouting from the rooftops, it’s Celtic who have the power to force change and create a straight and fair league.

I think the old line that was being spun for why Celtic were keeping quiet was ‘Never interrupt your enemy while it’s destroying itself’. Well what’s the line now? Let’s not rock the boat perhaps.

Well it’s just not good enough!

The opportunity to do so will present itself next spring IF what is known already becomes the knowledge of every Celtic supporter (and supporters of other clubs). That means taking it beyond blogs and getting associations on board.

The picture should be clearer and inarguable by Christmas but first those who know have to be given time to know that we know that they know and are silent (if they remain so).

I thought from the initial meetings and being told the resolution was unneccessary made it quite clear they did not want our investigation, to ignore that and gloss over it as if they’d always agreed it was necessary is why I thought you had not understood. Telling anyone or implying as I thought you were doing, that the board were alway on our side is loosing focus of who and why we are here. IMO of course.
