Celtic won their 17th successive game at Hampden yesterday to reach their fifth League Cup final in six seasons, though St Johnstone made them work for their rewards. Substitute James Forrest pounced on a loose ball on the 73rd minute to calm nerves among the vast majority of the crowd.
The defence’s impressive start to the season continued, in part thanks to St Johnstone’s inability to stage an attack that did not emanate from some slack ball control from a Celtic player. Despite a perfect Hampden pitch, our passing game was not at its best for fleeting moments.
Jota and Liel Abada were clearly under instructions to stretch the St Johnstone defence by sticking to the touchline. As a consequence, Abada was a virtual spectator, unable to influence the game with his timed runs into the box. Nir Bitton played well at occasionally broke through the lines, but for the most part, the gameplan looked to be stifling. It reminded me of the 2017 League Cup Final win over Motherwell, settled, in part, by another James Forrest goal.

Don’t think this was the start
Giofanny Van Bankrupt was hoping for !
Those pish pies and watery bovril he subjected his lovely wife to in the hospitality box must have gave them indigestion at half time hence the reluctance to do a Murty and step in when the smelly stuff hit the fan !
look what happened to loyal Murts yesterday ! Pumped out the door for his service.
Now we wouldn’t want that to happen to Henkes pal would we 😜
Yer welcome sea of orange turned into a tsunami of yellow urine for yer new gaffer who was hiding in hampdump box ! Nae Joy son 😜😜

What an article !!!!
Remarkably they look like they want to restart the Lyon game after an hour – it’s 10pm
Marseille should tell them to do one.
That awkward moment when Hibs put three past you before half time.
Hi Bhoys
A wee tune for the huns

” The champions found themselves 3-0 down after 38 minutes at Hampden through a Martin Boyle hat-trick. ”
How bizarre for the League Cup ?
Its absolutely OK for the Blog to rejoice and have a bit of fun whenever the Huns lose.
For them to lose in a Cup Semi to Hibs is particularly enjoyable.
However looking ahead the focus has to be on ourselves.
They had a freak year last year we had an awful one.
They will drop points this year but we need to take advantage of their slip ups.
We are good and we are getting better but absolutely no room for any complacency.

Hope the Bassa gets killed as their bus crash going back.

Dignity indeed.

No illusions on that score, however I would love to have a sit-down with DD, our CEO & the board. I would ask what is our strategy and what will they do in January.
I keep going on about how we are in a two-horse race – I also refer to what’s happening at Ibrox. Occasionally I get shot down for this, however there is an old story that goes like this:
Two guys in the forest come face to face with an enormous lion. Both frightened – one drops to his knees and prays, the other checks that his shoes are done-up properly. Kneeling guy turns to the other and says “what are you doing, you can’t outrun that lion”. His mate replies, “I don’t have to, I only have to outrun you”
We must always be aware of what is afoot at Ibrox because it always affects us.
Jhb just gtf ya prick
“For me,that’s never a Penalty”,
Eh !!!!!!!!!!!
Was it one of The Lisbon Lions ?

When you get slated on here, and that is most of the time, when I see those posts packed with scorn. I think of this.👇

You don’t, you keep telling us how we’ll struggle to finish in the top 6 or finish second.
:-)))

why was there a lion in a forest?

With all due respect, you are now talking about a 2 Hose Race, you were the only guy on the Blog questioning whether we would get second.
2 Horse Race obviously.
On the Juranovic or Ralston for right back discussion…
Poster “X” complains about Ange playing Juranovic at left back, instead of in his natural right back position, stating that players should be played in their natural position.
Poster “X” then states that their proferred solution is to move Ralston, from his natural right back position, further forward into a midfield position that he’s never played in our first team.
mmm…

it’s not the worst shout ever though
though the last point was right in that he has never played there
but he does have an eye for going forward and getting into scoring positions so may well be able to play that position
but the flip side of that is who would we leave out to play him there?
LETS ALL DO THE HUDDLE on 21ST NOVEMBER 2021 10:23 PM
My point is…the irony of stating we should NOT play a player (Juranovic) outwith his natural position (right back), yet suggesting we do exactly the same thing in playing Ralston outwith his natural right back berth.
HH
yeah but its slightly more natural to move a right back up to right midfield than it is to move a right back to left back
IMO play Juranovic at RB as he is by far the better player, why weaken two positions.
Try Scales at LB
To those intent on ‘splitting hairs’ – since 1985 (36 years), only Celtic/*Rangers have won the title – that’s the archetypal “two horse race”….i.e. only two capable of winning. That of course doesn’t mean that in any given year Celtic/*Rangers won’t be separated and not finish first & second.
A few weeks ago when we were sitting in 6th place, it was not unreasonable to cast doubt on whether we would indeed finish in second place. Things have changed – when things change, it is reasonable to change one’s opinion. If we are 8pts ahead at the end of January, then I would fancy our chances of winning the league.
Reference: look how bookies prices change when situations change….simples!!!

Aw the wee souls
Having to play seven matches before the league cup final.
Or perhaps I’m being too harsh?
if so, let’s keep it fair.
Between now and the final Hibs and Celtic play the same number of games.
Oh wait ….
Re playing players out of their natural position. We signed a young right footed centre half fae the juniors. He scored the equalizer with his right foot fae the left back position in Lisbon.
JHB.
In a 2 Horse Race the second Horse can’t be third.
Between Lions in forests, and a 3rd Horse miraculously appearing to split 2 horses in a 2 horse race you are talking through your arse.
With that I’ll bid you & the Blog Good Night & God Bless All.
