Forster, Samaras and Perth

1353

When I researched yesterday’s article (yes, research does happen sometimes) I was far from encouraged.  Udinese had an impeccable home record and Snr Di Natale is one of Europe’s irresistible strikers at the moment.

We didn’t manage to resist Di Natale but he will remember Fraser Forster for a few years.  We have been fortunate to see a few great goalkeeping performances in Europe in the last decade but last night Fraser was second perhaps only to David Marshall that night in Barcelona.  That last minute penalty save against Hearts on Saturday has moved the player onto a new platform.

Udinese had a good 20 minute spell when they looked every inch the team joint top of the Italian league but they were on the rack in the closing stages of the game.  Cha DuRi has had an eventful Europa League on the road this season.  He was a bit unfortunate at the Udinese goal but completely out of luck when he twisted his body mid-air to volley off the post.

Watching Georgios Samaras last night was a lesson in how complex a game football can be.  This is a player who could not hold down a place in the SPL last season, yet playing in a different position he had top-flight defenders throwing themselves at him in order to inhibit progress.

There is still work to be done, but the return of three first choice defenders will enhance the team considerably.  The most pleasing thing about last night came after the game; Fraser Forster’s focus was immediately on St Johnstone.  It’s all about Perth now.

Issue 5 of CQN Magazine will be out soon.  Hard copies will be available direct, at a considerably reduced cost from our current Magcloud arrangement and with a fast delivery turnaround.  Details soon.

  1. I regret not being able to get to the match tomorrow, but when I read this I don’t feel so bad:

“a person may be regarded as having been on a journey to or from a regulated

football match whether or not the person attended or intended to attend the match”

Now I can make a virtual journey from gay Paree to the “Fair City” with no pangs of regret, à la Edith Piaf.

    Aye, right!!!

I remember reading Catch 22 when I was a teenager, but Joe Heller is a rank amateur compared with Alex Salmond.

    Kit,

some great games you mentioned there. I was lucky enough to be at 4 of them. Just finished reading big Sutty’s book too and it brings back all those glorious memories.

Seems so long ago now, but only a few years inbetween.

Safe to say the team of that era wouldve bulldozed Udinese on Thursday………

However that was then, this is now.

Looking forward to Lenny and the Bhoys beating St Johnstone tomorrow and then giving the huns a doing on the 28th and then marching onto that Title!

    HAIL! HAIL!

This is hard to believe, but believe it, it is true. The debt collevtors did contact my bank and my bank told them what that mixed up guy in Italy told Uefa. They then without any invite from me sent me a ‘Platinum’ card with double points and no fees for life. They also extended a borrowing limit which could buy the huns 1,000,000 times. That is true and what else is true, I have two pairs of shoes, one with holes and I can’t afford to getr home to see the Celtic gub the huns on the 28th. My credit rating is good with me, I’m happy with that. I buy my round.

I didn’t get to see any of them live but I did get to see them on TV. One or two were in the mall in Brisbane at 5.00 am in the morning. Me and my brother-in-law and about six of the Brisbane CFC. They were great moments in my life. But I was home recently and on more than one occasion I got to the Celtic shop and I bought book after book and when I got to the airport to catch the plane to take me back to Brisbane, those that were with me bought six carrier bags full of Celtic gear to take back for my kids. My trip back took 37 hours door to door, and I dared not look at what I had bought and what had been bought for me lest I remember how much I was leaving behind. Trust me mate, I want equality and all that that will give us and what we lose will be fair. In that equality I WANT THE EEJITS TO STAND BESIDE ME.

Father`s Advice being shouted out at Ibrox and clearly audible on the Radio Scotland broadcast.

A reprehensible dirge that incites and celebrates youths joining a proscribed paramilitary organisation – the YCV – and that verbally abuses someone who was a serving MP at the time of his death.

Lets see the authorities deal with this. Am not holding my breath.

Something interesting … the scum are singing the YCV song right now.

Earlier this week, someone posted the link to the Football Bill ammendments. I had read them already, but I got interested in them again all of a sudden, because the point of the link was to highlight the “proscribed organisations” section of the Anti Terrorism Act 2000.

So I had a look. There are, as the poster said, 60 odd organisations on that list.

The YCV is not one of them, although other Loyalist organisations are. So that song, about Billy Hutchison’s murderous band, would be perfectly acceptable to sing, perfectly LEGAL to sing, although they were a fully fledged sectarian murder gang.

Such is the country in which we live my friends.

  11. The Banner

The banner was unfurled in the wind,

Displaying the words “You have sinned”,

The stadium went quiet, not one sound,

As people reflected and looked around.

The banner grew larger before their eyes,

Ate into their conscious as the words implied,

What have we done to incur their wrath?

When were we warned we had strayed from the path?

The banner shrank as the words sunk through,

Even the bloody minded saw they were true,

All of us sinners our conscious wiped clean,

Caught up in the plans of the sectarian machine.

Who’s offended? I’m just concerned about the damage it does to Celtic. It may be a flash in the LL pan. All concerned with Celtic’s gross over reaction (sic) might save us from UEFA this time. The question you might ask yourself is what happens next time a gallus drunk thinks it would be a good idea to run on the pitch and physically console an oposing player, only for the player to collapse clutching his face? If someone thinks a good reputation is worth nothing, they are seriously lacking in judgement and will do more harm to Celtic than good.

  13. monteblanco

Can you believe the GB would go to such extremes as unveiling that banner at another Euro clubs ground.

    See those nasty GB’ers.

I hear Celtic and Strathclyde Polis are to finance Thought Monitoring with Celtic Park. Any thinking that is not in line with unpublished guide lines will see the guilty supporters taken to Ibrox were they will be stoned into submission. They will also have brain implant software installed in offr that only celebrated thoughts are allowed such as those on display at the League Cup Final of last season.

James, is it true to say that up intil the new bill is passed, it is possibly “legal”.

Once the bill is passed, it could be “illegal” if somebody found it offensive.

Grey area mate. You see, the inclusion of that amendment appears to suggest that “political” songs cannot result in convinctions under the law without it. That’s what makes the amendment so shameful … the law itself would not be strong enough for these people, even giving the police carte blanche, so they actually added to it to grab as many people (i.e. Celtic fans) as they could.

I would argue, if I was of a mind to sing that song, and got arrested, that since it’s not in the bill it’s not covered by it, no matter WHO is offended.

Hey, these reprehensible scum sing it every week anyway.
