Free weekends just not right

602

There’s something not right about a free weekend in early March; we should still have been in the Cup.  Congratulations are therefore due to the five managers who remain in the competition, who have each shown remarkable abilities and are truly invaluable resources to their respective clubs – worth contract extensions all round.

Congratulations are also due to the 40,000 Aberdeen fans who will pack Celtic Park next weekend for the League Cup Final.  Opponents, Inverness, have shifted only 7,000 of their 20,000 allocation, although I hear there is a brisk trade in tickets this morning, many of which will end up in the hands of Aberdeen supporters.

40,000 Aberdeen fans at a game may be unprecedented, despite the 147,365 attendance at their 1937 Scottish Cup Final against Celtic.  No one was to know demand would be so buoyant from Aberdeen, but now the SPFL do know, they need to ensure the spare circa 13,000 tickets are sold to Aberdeen fans in a controlled manner.

Many thanks to everyone who donated to Mary’s Meals since the MyDonate link went up on Friday.  We are more than halfway there to funding the second school kitchen, at St Joseph’s Primary School in Kasungu, Malawi.  Stunned at the response.  You can get involved here.

Seville, The Celtic Movement, launches this month.

“It might not happen anytime soon but sometime down the line I’d like to think we could get there again. Maybe even go that extra mile and win the Cup. Henrik Larsson was our hero in this outstanding run and we’d probably need to look at finding another Henrik to get us there again! Remember that Celtic recently finished ahead of Benfica in Champions League Group stages and they dropped into the Europa Cup, reached the final and were very unlucky not to win it.”

    I should clarify also, that even though collectively we are trying to delude ourselves that competition could arrive in Scotland from outwit Rangers, i think in paul67’s case it is born out of love for celtic and not wanting any harm (armageddon) to befall celtic than anything else.

    Being confident of winning the League does not mean games are not competitive. If we were playing Aberdeen ,Dundee Utd etc we would KNOW we could lose. The title is a foregone conclusion but individual games are not and , on a personal level, I enjoy watching Celtic even if I am very confident of winning the League.

    Everton and Spurs, for example, know they won`t win the EPL but their fans still turn up in large numbers because individual games are unpredictable.

    Give them one , I know what I would give them haha ,

    I would prefer it if we stayed here but people need to

    Be wary of another league , we won’t have PL for ever

    And finances could get out of hand

    PL probably knows within two years whether Rangers will get significant

    Investment most of the cases up till now will be clearer if they get out of

    The championship…hope not … I know not very Christian like but I think

    Everybody knows how I feel ;))

  7. Perhaps someone could help resolve these little dilemmas:

    a) Sevco, according to many on here, are absolutely rubbish;

    b) Sevco, according to many on here, will easily win the Championship next season;

    c) Lots of money is essential for any team to to challenge Celtic;

    d) Sevco are skint.

    My own views?

    a) Sevco, compared to Old Rangers , are absolutely rubbish;

    b) Sevco will NOT easily win the Championship next season;

    c) True.

    d) Also true.

    What a scumbag of a man……

    WIGAN’S Lee McCulloch has been banned for three matches by the Football Association after admitting a charge of violent conduct.

    McCulloch was caught by television cameras punching Sheffield United captain Chris Morgan during Saturday’s Barclays Premiership match at the JJB Stadium.

    The suspension takes place with immediate effect, meaning the 28-year-old will miss this Saturday’s home clash with Chelsea, the Boxing Day game at Manchester United and the match at Watford on December 30.

    Neither referee Peter Walton nor the other match officials saw the incident, which resulted in Morgan suffering cuts and a badly swollen right eye.

    I have a 5 year old laptop that I only use when I’m travelling. It’s fine for that apart from the battery life being very short.

    Is it worth buying a new battery and what might the life be?
