I am sure you have many great Scottish Cup final memories. For me the best was Airdrieonians, twice. My earliest memory of attending a final was the 1975 win, Kenny Dalglish, Paul Wilson and Pat McCluskey. Watched big Billy and Jinky emerge from Hampden with the trophy after the game.
Then, of course, there was that huge final in 1995. Six years without a trophy, Celtic were at their lowest point in decades and had already lost a final to Raith Rovers that season. Beating Airdrieonians in that final is one of the most important victories in Celtic history.
By any measure, apart from Scottish Cups, Hibs are the fifth biggest team in Scotland, yet they haven’t won the Cup in 110 years. Since then the Wright brothers headed to Kitty Hawk and tried to get ‘Flyer’ off the ground for the first time in history and Teddy Rosevelt made history by becoming the first US president to ride in a motor car.
If they can pull a good 90 minutes together today, Hibs might become the first club in Scottish footballs’ rebirth. They have reclaimed thousands of fans in recent weeks and are proof that there is life outside Glasgow.
Good luck to them.

well done craig thompson
you are a legend
hh
Well that was disappointing. Hearts were the better side but it looked like it might be an interesting second half until Thomson ruined the game
Alex Salmond a TRUE Anorak Hearts fan in his younger days…..listened to his life Story on Radio Scotland last year a REAL jambo. Trying to spress his glee on TV today
” A top class performance from Ian Black”. Aye apart from the fact he should have been off the park after his early habitual thuggery.
I bet the huns wish they had some money to buy him, but wait that’s right, there won’t be any huns next season.
Roll on Apocalypse Wednesday!
Hibs are troooly crap fenlon et all shud hide their heads in shame after that.
Brother thompson does wat he does best
Oh and byetheway salmond, robertson, black locke and evry other orc girfuy
The crucial thing to be learned, not by us I hasten to add, is that, results aside, both Capital teams have enjoyed a lot tills Kaching!ing this week and for a while they held the media rapt.
Every single coin they’ve made should be considered in stark relief as to what they have missed through another’s financial gross illegal mismanagement.
It’ll make the vote easier – if there ever is one…
U
if thomson is off to the euros, i pity whoever gets him
how can these idiots on the bbc just gloss over the fact the ref ruined what was a finely poised cup final?
No doubts lots of Hibs players have let themselves down today, but the Refs major “mistakes” seem to have benefited one team only.
Blacks challenge in the first half at 0-0 is a red card in practically EVERY league in Europe. Thomson gives him a TALKING to.
Hearts get penalty at 2-1 for an offence that took place yards outside the box; oh and Thomson decides to follow the law, and also issue a second yellow to the Hibs player.
These two “mistakes” where far bigger, and had more influence on the outcome of the game than any mistakes from an individual Hibs player IMHO.
Thomsons performance wont even merit a mention in the match analysis, I’ll bet.
0h they are delighted the mini huns have humped the team in green and white everything in there small bigoted world. ids as it should be.Makes me puke to listen to them they are so quick to change there team the old king is dead long live the new king.H.H.

Pat Nevin will be gutted. On a bright note for Hibernian though, they were lucky they were not playing us. That 1972 6-1 hammering would have looked like one of their greatest moments. Pat Fenlon has a lot to do. Haven’t seen the penalty played back, seemed harsh at the time, especially with the sending off.
Now discussing the thug as player of the year……..desperate.
How embarrassing was it watching the Penalty replays clearly showing the hearts player shirt being tugged yards outside the box, then running a couple yards and clipping his own heels, while listening to Billy Dodds desperate attempts at justifying the decision.
These guys are world champions at avoiding elephants in the room.
Wonder if wee Pats got his ear muffs on today.
Pine Barrens
Correct, – he deliberately clicks his own heels.
Paulo Sergio nice touch for a manager, he’s no Sally McOist that’s for sure
Hearts were the better team by a mile but Black could have been sent off early in the match and the penalty was outside of the box.
I`m sure if Celtic had won in these circumstances they would have been highlighted.
Pine
I once listened to BBC Scotland – Jabba and Chico et al – getting seriously frenzied requesting that a player who had gotten himself sent off against C****c be re-instated for the second half.
They were trying to instigate a complete overhaul of professional football rules without any logical application of, well, logic…
But then again, even the SPL is doing that now…
U
that black is an odious little sh*te
sorry folks for rantin but a just cannae stand him or THAT club
hh
That Hibs performance was desperate.
Disappointed for Pat Fenlon.
SwanseaBhoy
I wanted Hibs to win as much as any of us ..but they were keech
Another match with selective refereeing choices. First minutes Black elbows Hibs player full in the face with the Hibs player looking the other way. Result nothing.
First minutes of the second half Hibs player tugs Susos jersey outside the box, Suso continues, Suso kicks his on heels inside the box and dives tow in a penalty.
Hibs were mince but would they had a chance at 11 v 10 etc…
Looked like a performance for Alex Salmond
I hope we get the fartz in next years Cup Final.
A record pumping would be on the cards.
Hi Paul

Lol, sounds about right. As someone mentioned, imagine Celtic had been the
beneficiaries of those two major decisions today; they would be the first points
analysed after the match, and would be continually mentioned by the MSM whenever
the final was spoke/written about.
The scottish BBC are a disgrace. had that been English football the refs decisions would have been part fo the post match analysis not just Hearts are great, Hibs are rubbish.
Suso is an odious individual. Cheating diving feigining injury and asking for opponents to be booked when he has cheated. Only’ Hibs’ supporter Nevin questions.
Why were the Police being so interested in what Pat Fenlon had to say?
Pat Nevin apoligising for saying it was not a penalty incase he drew the wrath of our current Scotland manager……only in Scotland…..Pat knows where he is earning his money…….dont bite the hand that feeds.
Pat Fenlon looks like a mini MON..
For all Celtic “fans” proposing we sign Skacel I have one question:
Why would our manager sign a player that spat on him when they played against one another?
Good on Pat Fenlon, plenty of common sense as manager, no heart from Hibs today
Hibs were awful but Thomson spoiled the 2nd half. Dalziel on Snyde is the thickest pundit in Christendom.
Paul67 et al
Just seen it again, never a penalty, Thompson only two or three yards away. Ruined what could have have been a closer second half. Hibs fans turned up, Hibs players didn’t.
Skacel – NO
Black – NO feckin way!
Craig Gordon – NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
T4
TTTT
Agree. Can’t believe anyone would suggest Black or Spit the Dug.
Odious toad Nevin’s typical twisted logic.
“It wasn’t a penalty – but they deserved a penalty for it “
“The men who sold the Jersey” BBC1 Wednesday 8.00pm should be good viewing.
it wasn’t a penalty, but they deserved a penalty for it ?????????????????
What the WHAT?????
I’m glad Nevin chucked supporting us.
It’s a favour he never knew he owed us.
U
Deeyyeelll is not a pundit he is only there to make the other huns on snyde seem smart.
Nevin is a lickspittle of the highest order, however his brother was the guy who painted the murals in Royston for the street party and is a real rhebel. He taught in St Rochs when he done the painting.
HH
Don’t care, not my team. That’s the best for next season chaps. In the spl of course! Gotta keep eye on the ball. Always need to improve. Must make champs league. CELTIC is all that matters. Must measure ourselves in euro.
Possibly drunk!
C’mon u bhoys on green!
They no dead yet?
