Green and the interests of Scottish football

789

I’ve read yesterday’s statement from prospective Rangers owner, Charles Green, a few times now, without really understanding what the point was.  When someone issues an unexpected statement the reason is usually obvious.  Not on this occasion.

Published on the official Rangers web site it once and for all confirmed that Duff and Phelps were acting with the approval of Green when they took the SFA to the Court of Session, thereby bringing the entire Scottish game into a potential disrepute situation with Fifa.

Mr Green will now be fully aware of the ramifications of Rangers court action.  They failed in their attempt to have the matter referred back for consideration to the Judicial Panel and, as Paul McConville pointed out yesterday, cannot be ejected from the Scottish Cup.  They are not currently participating in the Scottish Cup, and suspension from a future season’s Cup is not an available punishment.

His legal advice is now likely to conclude that his actions will soon lead to suspension from the Scottish FA.  There is, however, an interesting theme through Green’s short statement that might indicate why his statement was issued:

“I nor my investors wish to see an outcome that would be to the detriment of Scottish Football”.

“….suspension or termination of Rangers Football Club membership of the SFA. That in our view would be a disaster for Scottish football”.

“Expulsion from the Scottish Cup is itself a very serious punishment which would also have a severe impact on Scottish football”.

We are heartened to hear the interests of Scottish football are so core to Mr Green’s heart.  This being the case, he will possibly protect Scottish football by asking the SFA to impose the now-illegal player registration ban on Rangers and beg them not to refer the matter back to the Appellate Panel. The horse has bolted on this one but it’s possibly worth a punt.

    Sorry for butting in.

At face value, the “sacking by phone” sounds like a callous act.

On closer examination, assuming that there is/was a serious breach, requiring summary termination of employment, options were very limited.

Being the close season, nobody, would be at Celtic Park, certainly not the manager or staff.

Therefore, I presume as a form of courtesy, Neil Lennon arranged to travel to Alan’s home base in Newcastle.

As Alan failed to keep the appointment, it didn’t leave much room for leeway in delivering the club’s verdict.

Unless, of course, it was via a Phil Collins.

Probably been discussed today but not been in all day so here goes again…. I can only speculate/assume AT is goin through some tough times in his personal life(i.e drink driving conviction and marriage break up).As we all know Celtic f.c comes before any individual, however i would love to see Thommo back at paradise one day ( sooner rather than later)…. possibly even help him through these tough times as he is a true Celt and done wonders with the squad over the last couple of seasons HH Alan… You will be missed

Like many of the more perspicacious readers of this hallowed blog,I resisted the temptation to watch the BBC Panorama programme,on football in Poland and Ukraine…

Familiar with their agenda,I knew exactly what to expect in this documentary..

The BBC-Guardian are the Two Cheeks of the *rse of Our Axis of Evil….which spouts pure undiluted Leftist/Multiculti twaddle to an extent that it makes Pravda of the Stalinist Era seem like an enlightened paragon of honesty and veracity..

Consider the mindless bias of the official media in the Hermit Kingdom of North Korea…or Communist China,at the height of the Cultural Revolution….crank it up a few notches, and you get some impression of the current level of bias Her Majesty’s TaxPayers are subjected to by this most odious organization…and even more outrageously, are required to pay a mandatory TV licence fee,for our very own indoctrination…..as well as the soap operas and reality tv shows to keep the lumpen proletariat distracted from the real issues…

Totally obsessed with ‘racial issues’..it reminds me of a rabid dog spinning in circles,as it tries to bite off its own tail..

You must have a few visible ethnic minorities living in your fine country…

But not so fast, palomine….don’t be thinking that gets you off the hook..

In the eyes of the BBC,not content with being a ‘hideously’ Catholic country……

You are judged guilty of being a hideously White country….

At the same time, you insist on speaking this virtually impenetrable foreign language, which incomers find practically impossible to pick up…

    Right? Right!

So then we come to the crux of the matter…

The Meddlesome Poles have been causing trouble in Europe for centuries..

    truth be told….ask Virginia..

First, there was that upstart,King John Sobieski(wi’ the Scots mammie ?) crushing the Turkish Hordes,at Vienna on 9th September 1683,and so beginning the process of their expulsion from mainland Europe..(Save Occupied Constantinople).

Not content with that, the Poles went on to upset the two ugly twins of Socialism,

    ……Marxism and National Socialism.

First,as you have referred to in your fine submission… In 1920,when the Red Army attacked Poland, intent on conquering it and moving swiftly on into Central Europe, taking Germany, still in a fragile state after narrowly managing to counter Communist coups, which had taken control of Berlin and the state of Bavaria..

Swivel-Eyed Trotsky fulminated,”Take Berlin and Germany”,he urged,”Then onwards and don’t stop till you get to Paris and London….

Despite the assistance of the Granfather of The Perfidious Milibands…who betrayed his native Poland,to fight on the side of the Red Army, the Magnificent Magical Poles triumphed…in the defining battle, which came to be known as “The Miracle of Warsaw”…

So again, the whole of Europe was saved

..And while most of us are eternally indebted to the “Nation of the Black Madonna”…don’t be expecting any gratitude from our Plastic Paddies..

They’re just too caught up in hating the English/The Magnificent Benevolent British Empire, which was the Shining Beacon of The Civilised World…..and Poor Wee Jimmy Shand & The White Heather Club…

Then we have the brilliant and valiant Polish pilots who served in the RAF in 1940,and frustrated the Huns with the same style and elegance as THG,accounting for a third of the downed Luftwaffe aircraft….thus ensuring that the Peepil of Scotland remained free to have their Colourful Celebratory Walks on The Queen’s Highways every July…

Well you’d have thought that was more than we could realistically expect, from this doughty people, fae the shores of the Baltic.. ?

Wrang….For along comes that Colossus of a Man,Pope John Paul II….ably assisted by Magnificent Ronald Reagan, and our own Magnificent Iron Lady….who set about dismantling the Iron Curtain, which had imprisoned millions of honest and beautiful East Europeans,in servitude for decades… And handed a proper bitch-slapping to the Scrofulous Auld Russian Bear, which he willnae be forgetting in a hurry…

So,Zyby…as you see,Poland is most definitely in the cross-hairs of the media in this country..and will remain so for the forseeable future..

Perhaps one fine day,we will have a sudden unexpected influx of Polish plumbers on a grouse-hunting expedition

And they will initiate our own British Spring…which will sweep our sorry leaders from power…

    Then our own ‘Awkward Squad’ of fellow travellers…..Ernie Lynch,Robert Tressell,Timbhoy 2,…..and Petec(Sorry!)

will be lined up against the wall and bludgeoned with the firmest of courgette

I have been thinking recently about “What is Celtic.”?

    Is it the Board?

    Is it the Players?

    Is it the Fans?

I came to the, not unsurprising conclusion, that it is all three.

However, not three disconnected units, but three parts of the one unit.

No one part exists without the other two; no matter how some would argue that the fans ARE the club.

For me, Celtic is a Trinity, comprising of three co-equal parts

    No Fans = No Club

    No Team = No Club

    No Board = No Club.

For the secularists amongst us, it would be like trying to sit on a three- legged milking stool, with one leg broken off.

We would fall on our collective a….!!

  15. Some one suggested earlier that the AT affair could be Celtic downsizing for life without THEM.

I doubt it. As the post MON years proved, the Board can be quite brazen about downsizing and justifying it.

Unless Thommo chooses to kiss and tell in one of the tabliods, the ordinary fan may never get anywhere near the truth of the story.

  17. “Celtic axe Thompson for refusing meeting” Morning Star.

One thing I am learning fast is that logic would appear to be anathema to journalists.

Facts: 1. An Attempt is made to hold a meeting in Newcastle between

between Neil Lennon and Alan Thompson.

    2. Alan Thompson refuses to attend the meeting.

    3. Neil Lennon, obviously with something important to discuss

Alan Thompson, has a telephone conversation with him.

    4. A Celtic statement announces that Alan Thompson has left

    the club.

    5. Celtic confirm that the matter is now in the hands of

    lawyers.

“CELTIC Football Club can confirm that Alan Thompson has left the club. We can also confirm that a meeting was set up between Alan Thompson and Neil Lennon on Sunday (June 3) in Newcastle.

However, Alan refused to meet with Neil, hence the reason for the discussion being conducted by telephone.

The matter is now in the hands of lawyers and, therefore, we are unable to go into any further details.”

Might I ask where from this statement can a logical conclusion be drawn that Alan Thompson was axed “for refusing meeting”. Such a conclusion does not logically follow from any premise in the statements made. I am heartily sick of this ignorant journalism. INTELLECTUAL MORONS!

A wee example of less than inspiring journalism tonight on BBC Scotland Television News.

Reval Alderson informed all and sundry that Queen;’s Coronation was first major Royal event to be televised live.

We must assume that by Reval’s standards, her father’s funeral was a pretty minor affair.

Really really disappointed to see AT go, if for nothing else its interrupted the nonstop flow of negative information being solely about rangers, now we’re in the mix,

Also I’d heard from several respected sources that AT had a big say in the tactics we used, sometimes more so than Neil, although of course Neil would always have had the final say,

Anyway, really disappointed. John Gorman would be a good shout as a replacement, Neil to soldier on a man down would be a major error of judgement imo , more so with the CL qualifiers just around the corner.
