GRIFFITHS BOOKING SURPRISES BRENDAN

BRENDAN RODGERS admitted he was surprised Leigh Griffiths was booked for diving in the first-half of Celtic’s 4-2 win over St Johnstone.
Referee Craig Thomson, who had a shocker last week at Dens Park, was swift to flash the yellow card at the player only 10 minutes after the hitman had scored the opening goal.
Griffiths raced into the box when there was a challenge from Saints defender Ricky Foster.unspecified-9
Pictures clearly show there is contact from the ex-Ibrox player as the Hoops frontman is knocked out of his stride.
Thomson, from yards away from the action, didn’t hesitate as he fished the card out of his pocket.
Rodgers admitted: “I didn’t get a good view of the incident as it was on the far side.
“I spoke to Leigh and he said he felt there was contact
“He’s not a player I’ve seen dive or anything like that even in training.
“But the referee’s given the yellow card, we respect that and I will need to see it again.”
Card-happy Thomson also booked Griffiths’ team-mates James Forrest, Saidy Janko and Nir Bitton.
