I blame my many years of alcohol abstinence.

The blaw disnae affect the memory so much. ;))

  2. Cannae believe anyone is debating the red card.

Lyon had just been booked by the ref and immediately follows it up by throwing KT to the ground, right in front of the ref. Talk about stupid!!

Martin Kaymer’s caddy is Craig Connolly fae Dalmuir. CC is a walking Celtic advert. Green and White his preferred colour scheme. :)

Stenson is the only Celtic supporter on leader board.

My middle name is Patrick, so I am shouting for the leader and Henrik :))

Connolly was caddying £45 rounds at Loch Lomond when he got picked up by a Swedish lass to caddy on the Ladies tour. I believe he went to a party and met Paul Casey whom he caddies for, then caddied for Monty for a short spell then Kaymer. A couple of majors later he’s travelled the world and likely a millionaire for his troubles. Thems the breaks.

I thought Rory was a Tim.

Gearoid of this parish put me right about him.

Sounds like Rory is a bit of a Neil McCann.

A booking all day in my veiw. So he had been booked so he walks. That boy had a fair few fouls before his booking if memory serves me right.

McGregor got sent off last year for pushing a Hamilton player, again if memory serves me correctly

He still travels on the Goldenhill Hardgate CSC when he is home. Martin Kaymer has travelled on it too. Mental D. Them’s the breaks in life.

Rory isn’t interested in the north/south, catholic/protestant debate. He sees himself as Northern Irish and a golfer and gets on with it accordingly.

  11. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

Tontine , andy Ritchie had unbelievable talent.

Football lost out greatly when Brian McLaughlin was injured by that count McVie . Brian could have been one of our greats.

Delaney’s , John went on to teach at Holyrood where he was respected also. John became a personal friend of Sean Fallon’s family . I bumped into him when Sean’s body was received into the church . Even though I had not seen John for years , he still recognised me and said hello.

I know and respect Gearoid fae Belfast and would trust him with my life. When Gearoid puts you straight, you listen. He knows Irish politics more than most combined on here.

    Well done Patrick.

Sorry to say this mate but you’re talking pish.

Was funded through the GUI on an elite athlete programme, selected to play for Ireland at the Rio Olympics and then withdrew saying he feared the Zika virus which was more prevalent in Florida where he then lived than it was in Rio. Later admitted that he withdrew because he said he would feel more “comfortable” representing Britain than Ireland.

He didn’t throw the tricolour to the ground at Congressional out of disrespect. He had just won his first major and didn’t want to be used as a political tool. Why was the guy handing him a tricolour anyway? Regards the GUI money, i cant speak for that but what i can say is he didn’t need it, he’s the biggest golf talent to come out Europe in decades and possible ever. Here is that article you speak of, it seems balanced to me.

I blame John for making us at Saint Tams a great fitba team. 7 guys from my year made it pro in fitba. Unfortunately I didnae. ;)

  17. Chargi g issues.

When he won his first major at Congressional in 2011someone threw him a Tricolour which he let fall to the ground before going to his bag and taking out the “NI” fleg with the Crown over the Red Hand…an anathema to anyone who perceives themselves to be Nationalist. If he wanted to be “neutral” he could have selected the yellow Ulster flag so beloved of his mates in the Ulster Rugby team. Goes to all of the NI matches…wonder how he feels doing the bouncy or his co supporters singing about wishing to be up to their knees in his blood??? Personally I prefer the mid trans Atlantic accented Graham Mc Dowell. He recognises whonfunded him through his amateur days and is not embarrassed to represent Ireland.

    HH

  18. He did need it when he was an amateur…the clue is in the word . By carrying the NI fleg around with him he already makes a choice. Are you aware of the flag debate over here????

  19. Ps. as a member of Holywood Golf Club he would have paid GUI fees and as such was entitled to the funding based on his ability. He doesn’t owe them anything. However being a golfer I’m aware of his effort to promote the Irish Open (played in the Republic and the North) and he has brought sponsorship and some of the best players in the world to play in it because he asked them too. He also played a huge part in bringing the Open to Portrush in 2019 for the first time ever. He is one of the most respected guys in Golf and has given a lot back to the game, he has lots of time for fans and kids. You will find few who have a bad work to say about him.

  20. Ps

The GUI is an all Ireland body. Their flag is the tricolour, it is organised in the same way as Irish Rugby is organised. Why would somebody not throw him a Tricolour????

Dinnae argue wi someone who knows more about a subject than yourself.

Gearoid is wise enough to not argue Clydebank politics wi us two.

Listen and learn fae Gearoid mate.

  22. David17,

McIlroy will need to go some yet to be the best European golfer ever,

Ballesteros and Faldo are 2 that spring to mind as better

  23. So an organisation funds you through your amateur days and when it comes to represent that organisation at the Olympics you then decide that you feel uncomfortable in doing So???

  24. GORDYBHOY64 on 9TH APRIL 2018 12:05 AM

I said biggest talent. not best golfer. Different things. I am aware of the history of both other players and European golf in general.

  25. BOBBY MURDOCH'S CURLED-UP WINKLEPICKERS on

    A curate’s egg yesterday.

Decent enough result, not a great performance but comfortable enough, and a disgraceful pitch. I’m not really too keen on criticising the performance, but we just seem to lack a bit of fluency this season. Like we’re having to think about what to do with or without the ball, instead of it just coming naturally.

There was a lovely wee bit of interplay with Calum and Paddy early in the game which nearly put Moussa through, and that was just about it. But a handful of games from a Double Treble? Aye,I’d have taken that two years ago.

  26. And by the way by carrying that other rag he is already being “used” as a political tool and he chooses to be so.

    ———

It’s a personal choice. Many of the top players in the world didn’t go to the Olympics for different reasons, to be quite frank most of them weren’t interested.

    ——–

Just checked, the GUI flag doesn’t appear to be a Tricolour. It’s at the top of their webpage. I’m happy to be corrected if wrong.

  29. It’s an all Ireland body in the same way as the flag of the Irish Rugby team is thectriclour. If you play for the GUI you represent Ireland eerrr that’s why GUI stands for Golfing Union of IRELAND.

You do realise the significance of the Crown over the Red Hand on the “NI flag???? Why have it in your bag. As I said if you want to be neutral…carry the yellow and red Ulster flag. By the way that’s also on the blazer badge of the Ulster branch of the GUI.
