  1. i too am watching the billy connolly columbo episode.

brilliant actors the pair of them.

a future episode will see a private eye being investigated for putting a tracking devise under the car of a cheating husband.

  2. Thank you, Celtic.

I only saw the last 20 minutes. Just in time to see some great goals (and a sitter missed).

Not good for the soul of wee auld yins to learn we are drawing 1-1 with 20 minutes to go.Still, alls well that ends well.

Of all that I saw, I think Rogic’s pass to Eduard was sheer class.

  3. We did not play well and Hamilton defended ever so well. The shape didnt seem quite right in the first half, there was too big a gap between midfield and attack and we lacked width and fluency. Taylor and Brown looked leggy and Griffiths spend too much time fighting battles that wasted energy. Ntcham had one of those games were he didn’t really do much in the direction of either goal. The big guy up front for them gave Ajer and Jullien a rough time of it and scored a deserved goal.

Hamilton shot themselves in the foot with the red card and Edouard showed his class to punish them severely. From then on in, the longer it went the more anxious it got but you always felt it would come against 10 men. It was a strikers finish by Jullien and thereafter we cruised home. Christie got sharper as the game went on and that bodes well.

Neil Lennon made changes that made a difference and for that he deserves huge credit.

There will be more games like this between now and the end of the season. This is not a time for the faint hearted.

  4. KLV 3.44pm

Good to read … get yourself on here more .. I tell Dallas & AoW that am chucking CQN every Friday then it hits the weekend and I need a Celtic fix

The fitba we are playing will be more appreciated when we look back and not in the moment … I think slowly but surely Neil is putting his own “Leigh Griffiths” (stamp :-) on the team … I think “if” we can stop worrying about things we will enjoy this team more and more … Ryan Christie, Jonny Hayes & Twinkle Toes Tam are terrific subs to introduce… good tims … ah mean, good times :-)

  5. It was the usual poor match at Hamilton and, in the past, we have mostly scraped through by the odd goal.

Exempting the subs, only Edouard and, to a lesser extent, Broony could be said to have shown the right mix of calmness and drive. I cannot offer my 3rd vote to Julienne, who was our worst player but scored a great important goal, or Griff who played well enough but risked a red on 2 occasions today to put his team in trouble, or Welsh, who by merely being tidy and average, was our best defender. If I don’t choose a sub, I’ll be forced to pick Tory Douglas Ross as my 3rd vote, as he told Nick Walsh it was a red card offence.

I was calling the team out for a lack of urgency but Broony and Neil both claimed this as the virtue of patience and determination, after the match. Thus, does the final result colour our appreciation of the match. What were being called out as bizarre subs, turned out to be match winners.

All I asked for was a win, so I can forgive the dross, and rejoice again today as we go 7 clear.

Nothing is over in the league race. We have a very tough away fixture in Motherwell next and will have to be 50% better to win that one.

Thankfully, though, it is on grass.

  6. Corkcelt …

Every time you think the blog is quiet just post it’s your birthday …

It gets plenty of posts moving :-)

    Happy 73rd next 9th of January 🍀

  7. How good is French Eddie, Fast becoming a Legend, In my opinion better than Dembele and in recent years second only to Henrik.

  8. The Battered Bunnet on

After the match, Broonie bemoaned that Hamilton are used to playing on that surface.

    Begs a quick question…

How many times do our players need to play on crumby crumb rubber pitches before they’re used to them?

  9. I don’t really get the whole ‘we didn’t play well’ narrative

I thought we played as well as can be expected on that surface

And Corkcelt, correct….Edouard has surpassed Dembele

  10. French Eddie has a better strike rate than Moussa Dembelle … we are very lucky to have these bhoys in the hoops.. but I also think they are lucky to grace the hoops … would love Odsonne to stay for seasons to come but realise he might not … Celtic is a showcase for these players … hopefully players like Broony, the Griff and the invisible 16 goals in January stay a bit longer … appreciate what we have is far better than worrying about what we don’t have

  11. french eddie has the poential to go all the way to the top of the game.

    and i think he will.

  12. The Battered Bunnet on

Also, many happy returns to any other CQNers who may be expecting a birthday sometime in the coming year.

Not all of the plastic pitches play the same way.

Hamilton’s consistently produces bad matches regardless of who plays there. You could stage El Classico there and it would be a poor match.

Killie’s surface and Livi’s do not appear to be as bad. It was definately the aggressive play and constant effort of the Livi players that beat us this season – not the pitch.

I have sympathy for Hamilton as a club and appreciate their players efforts in staying in the SPFL year on year and developing young talent. But I won’t miss their pitch if they go down

  15. Nye Bevans' rebel soldier on

If the much maligned PL wants 10iar he should give Eddie a years extension and a

big pay rise…….envious eyes are already watching.

  16. The Battered Bunnet on

SFTB – the rubber crumb pitches play differently depending on the weather, temperature and humidity. That was a ‘decent’ Hamilton pitch today. It’s been considerably slower and less predictable in past matches.

  17. Always the same in Hamilton, low key lopsided ground on an dreadful artificial surface that does not allow for football on the deck, a first half where we were flatter than Inch High Private Eye. Missed early chances, and Hamilton put us through the wringer albeit with ten men, and power where they like to play it, off the ground.

NFL made telling changes which sapped the home side and Hayes overtook Taylor who overtook taxi for Boli, Rogic and Christie, made the passes and Edouard ditched the extra touch for his super second of the match, after his sublime opener.

Stephen Welsh read the bounce better than Ajer and Juliien who made amends replicating his League Cup Final volley, James Forrest kept his head down and scored with his swinger, by which time Accies were done.

Turn left at the Hamilton off ramp on Wednesday, for a very different game on a natural surface and no doubt more flex of our bigger better squad.

    M.O.M Edouard

  18. TBB

They are all better than the Barrowfield First Gen pitch that I played on. Puddles collected on there so that goalie kick outs could aquaplane from one goalie to the next.

I played in a game that ended 5:3 there but it was not exciting to play in or watch, just a series of errors and miscontrols, some of which bobbled into goals.

  19. corkcelt your a youngster….hoopy birthday

didnt see first half but thought JF had a very good second half.

brown had some poor passes but its three good points.

  20. glendalystonsils on

‘Coisty’ picks up the baton from his pal ‘Boydy’ in the ‘get Griffiths’ campaign.

    Yup!

  21. Nye Bevans 4.30pm

The “envious eyes” are watching the French u-21s… Celtic offer these players a platform … if they perform we all win … would love some to stay but am afraid that’s our place in the “wages” structure … even though some “fans” think £100,000 @ week would solve our problems … by the way I don’t think we have that many “problems”

  22. i'vehadtochangemymind on

    Lurkers –

we didn’t draw against the dons or lose to hearts

we deservedly lost to you at CP

we have players to come back from injury

    you’re losing players to injury

you were told the league was won in December

your first 11 works very well in the sphell and europe

you couldn’t afford to buy significant back up this jan

we bought back up this jan

    you have an inexperienced manager

    we have an experienced manager

  23. glendalystonsils on

    i’vehadtochangemymind

The only reason ‘Rangers’* have got as close to us as they are , is precisely because of their luck in avoiding injuries to key players , in stark contrast to us.

Now that they are experiencing what we have experienced all season , they are faltering.

  24. onenightinlisbon on

As one of Neil’s critics on here, I have to applaud his substitutions today, they made the difference. Wonder if Hamilton will be as resilient next week against the tribute act…….

More importantly my view we need a big bruiser bully of a Centre Half to compete in this FtSPFL, against quite a few teams, is still relevant

  26. Regarding Edouard, When the time comes we better hear Celtic saying that the bidding can start at 40 million. He and Dembele will soon be the stars of the French team.
