If you do not have a knot in your stomach, you should. Hearts managed to relegate themselves last season through inept performances against teams clearly below them in the food chain. They upped their game against Hibs and (especially) Newco, posing questions that the Budgeocracy has yet to consider. On Sunday, we face a team of usually-can’t-be-bothereds with a grudge.
In October, they started their Championship campaign by putting six goals past Dundee, whom they blame for siding with Peter Lawwell in the discussions that determined how last season’s league campaign would end. Then they beat Hibs, who they can always be bothered to play, in the Scottish Cup semi-final.
The new stands at Tynecastle act as a reservoir of resentment and Celtic are top of their list. Who else, other than their players, either managers, or the insightful new broom that was going to show football how it’s done in the business world, is there to blame for their relegation than Celtic.
And then there’s Eddie. You and I didn’t really discuss this at the time. A photo circulated showing the keeper took him out, but that was ‘fake news’ as it was not of the penalty incident in the 2019 final. Hand on heart; I think we got away with one then. A goal down in the second half, Odsonne Edouard took control; before you knew it, you were celebrating a Treble Treble.
I do not respect Heart of Midlothian FC whatsoever, but I respect any opponent who can so readily cultivate the unifying resentment that can produce results like the 4-0 that ended Celtic’s world record 69 domestic games unbeaten. This is a proper team, better than most in the Premiership and more than capable of winning on Sunday. If we are one inch less prepared than them, we will lose.
Before the Lille and Kilmarnock wins I saw a shroud of defeat ahead at Hampden. We may have turned it around just in time, but for now, the stomach remains knotted.

Huddle, yes, ‘the weans will be fine’, so let them get on with things.
Meanwhile, stay on if you’re shit scared of Covid and not looked after yourself for years.
Don’t make ‘the weans’ suffer for YOUR choices.
‘on’ = ‘in’.
I get many want change, best idea is to get a couple of hundred of million together then you can do something about it, in the mean time feel free to challenge optimistic supporters 😉🍀
Best idea is to respect other people’s opinions

think we won 2-0 at Celtic park and still went out …
correct , was at the game and also went to 2nd leg game in Madrid (my first European away game) we lost 3-0 and GmcC missed a great chance to put us 1 up, memories , anyway back to tomorrow and when the cheers go up just bring the cup home to paradise.
Old GM,
That’s the most common sense I’ve heard about this scenario since it started
LAXALT on 19TH DECEMBER 2020 7:57 PM
No room for your namesake?
I wonder what Laxalt would be like playing in front of Taylor.
Elyanoussi really does not do it for me – inconsistent and lazy in defence (don’t get me started on some of the crazy in-field passes he makes that lead to opposition chances/goals).
Laxalt’s full of energy, seems to be able to tackle and likes to go forward.
Ajer moving to RB seems to have tidied up glaring weaknesses there, Taylor/Laxalt could do the same on the left?
Neighbour next door said to me, think you’ll win tomorrow against us. Not only win but hammer you, said I, you goons seem to think we are to be blamed for your relegation. You were relegated because of your love affair with Leven😕
Hoopy birthday to Big Jimmy!
Levein even
Less of the ‘old’, Pitymevin😉
First name on the team sheet
Scott “el Captaino” Brown
CTC
Celtic Trophy Collector
Ha, ha, spot on Prestonpans.
Budge appointed him Director of Football, then made him manager to clean up the mess he made as D.O.F., then took an age to sack him as manager.
She then tried to blame anyone she could for her own abject incompetence.
They deserved everything they got.
GFTB on 19TH DECEMBER 2020 8:22 PM
Gerry, play Soro and bring him on to lift the cup🏆🏆
PPB 8.27pm
I would not be averse to that …
I love wee Soro … his first time passes going forward are probably like Scott Brown 15yrs ago :-)
Broony will be important tomorrow if Neil decides it’s from the 1st minute orb the 67th minute I will not care a jot
Canny wait … 🍀
O Captain! My Captain! our fearful trip is done;
The ship has weather’d every rack, the prize we sought is won;
The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting,
While follow eyes the steady keel, the vessel grim and daring:
But O heart! heart! heart!
O the bleeding drops of red,[a]
Where on the deck my Captain lies,
Fallen cold and dead.
O Captain! My Captain! rise up and hear the bells;
Rise up—for you the flag is flung—for you the bugle trills;
For you bouquets and ribbon’d wreaths—for you the shores a-crowding;
For you they call, the swaying mass, their eager faces turning;
Here captain! dear father!
This arm beneath your head;[b]
It is some dream that on the deck,
You’ve fallen cold and dead.
My Captain does not answer, his lips are pale and still;
My father does not feel my arm, he has no pulse nor will;
The ship is anchor’d safe and sound, its voyage closed and done;
From fearful trip, the victor ship, comes in with object won;
Exult, O shores, and ring, O bells!
But I, with mournful tread,
Walk the deck my captain lies,[c]
Fallen cold and dead.
Apologise, I should have addressed that as AKA GM
GFTB
Remember if they win tomorrow I’ve nowhere to hide from them😕😕
Pitymevin, I knew what you meant.😉
Alas, compared to when this blog first started, I am now quite old.😩

More Covid stuff – but positive this time!!!
Puiplished this week in the Nature journal – results from the GENOMICC study (here is the study website for anyone with an interest https://genomicc.org/).
GENOMICC leads the Global research effort to detect the human genetic factors that make some people susceptible to suffering the most severe impact of Covid-19 – this research is led from led from Scotland by Dr Ken Bailley and team. NHS Lothian / Roslyn Institute / Edinburgh University supported by hundreds of centers around the country, and more widely – we should be immensely proud of this work.
Here’s a discussion from Prof Bailley after publication last week of the initial results:

If you read down the Twitter chat, you’ll find some really interesting information (and if you look really close, you might find at least one CQN poster).
This is the abstract from Nature: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41586-020-03065-y
[ and if you look though the long list of Affiliations, I know for a fact you’ll see another CQN poster ;-) ]

Thanks again for the kind words. Maria has been asleep for about 22 of the last 24 hours. Wakes up, says she feels ok, turns over and goes straight back to sleep. Zonked. It’s like communicating with someone who is being anesthetized.
I’m downstairs on the sofa 🥱😴
