Charlie is the classic brains in his feet fitba player. Gave us some great days though before he went for the champagne cocaine life in London.

  2. Player of the Year is going to be tough this year, I think Tierney, Brown, Armstrong, Sinclair & Dembele are all in the mix. Just now with the emotion of the day so fresh, Sinclair is the name on most lips but there is still a Cup to win, a magical Cup Final by one or the other could swing it. What a wonderful dilemma to have.

Jude, let’s hope our young yins carry on the feel good factor and Josh plays well tomorrow night.

Good stuff, hope Jude catches Brendan’s eye, hard to break into the team but where there is hope there is a chance

    Dallas….

Am no fan of Charlie, he seems to me a bit sleekit like the sleekit one who has a million penny shares in the basket case, one of my pals was a Chalrie fanatic (the player not the powder) it’s hard for normal Celtic fans to listen to a clown like him who had it all……. Young KT was the main topic of conversation today, young nephew knows his family well, he is adamant Kieran is going nowhere, I think that is more he hopes Kieran is going nowhere :-)

    Jude ….

That was hope Josh catches Brendan’s eye, although if you fancy getting the boots on maybe you could catch Brendan’s eye as well :-)

    Hope Josh does well

The Huddle……hope you enjoyed your day

Congratulations to Brendan and the Bhoys. Having had the £5 notes waved in my face at work but white supremacist huns I would now like to say GIRFUY!

Honest mistake by refs in Scotland does not happen. More like dishonest cheatin.

Delaney’s and Gerry, what finished me with him was at the game we beat AC 2 1 was when White was caught off camera saying they’re singing the totty song again to which our former player and fan said ‘ and they’re awe eating chips ‘.

  9. Would love to get Provan, Nicholas, Walker, Mark Wilson and to a certain extent Packie Bonner in a room and ask them what is their problem with Celtic, they always have a negative slant. Fans my arse. In fairness to John Collins, always speaks well of Celtic, even prior to getting the assistant managers gig when was a pundit on Sky for champions league games. Give me John Collins any day over those others. As the song goes Celtic first, Celtic last and Celtic overall. Walker, Nicholas and co. take note ye fannies

I now understand your dislike :-)

Fellow Celtic fans good night and God bless, I always tried to stand up for Ronny, I even done it today as my family were picking holes (only because they are now used to winning) but even I realise Brendan is pretty special……..

    Brendan gets us

We live in great Celtic times…..even better MissGFTB was phoning me all day then said, when are we getting season tickets……play the long game and let them think it’s their choice

    Looking forward already to 7

Kidso Reilly was a massive Celtic fan. It was through Jim that he got the roadie gigs for Bananarama. The soldier that murdered him was Ian Thain. Remember this because he was the first British soldier to be convicted of murder over here. Served the equivalent of two years and then was released back into his regiment. Absolute travesty. Kidso really was the life and soul of the party.

Think it was 1983 he was murdered as there was a small commemoration in Turf Lodge for his 30th anniversary. Plaque to his memory with the Celtic crest on a gable wall in Ardmonagh Gardens. The Erin go Bragh club also have a Kidso Reilly banner that they bring to a lot of the matches.

Anyway on days like today it’s good that we remember those that have went before us and sadly miss Celtic performances that have been an absolute privilege to watch.

Yep Collins is one of us, can’t remember him giving us shit like many others yet some fans have a problem with him.

Crazy – today I read a piece by Provan who called Celtic a basket case when Ronny was the manager – we won 2 titles idiot

  13. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

Cambhoy, apart from Provan, those you listed were all Celtic fans growing up , that’s the thing that gets me.

I dont want them to be like that bumbling buffoon Johnstone about sevco but a bit of praise for us is not to much to ask for.

Agree completely about the toilet that was a Brockville!

Remember being crushed behind the goals there a couple of times during our 9 in a row. Was on the park there the day we won the ninth! Being a daft laddie, you just thought those days would go on and on!

The locals weren’t too friendly either!

At Swinecastle do you remember the odd wee cover they had across from the main stand?

It went from the half way line to just round behind one corner flag!

Was in there a few times before segregation! Interesting shall we say!

Easter Road the same, all that Green and White would suddenly exploded in to a barney!

Didn’t know friend from foe! Great times!

    Thomas “Kidso” Reilly.. Please read

Thomas “Kidso” Reilly was amongst the best Celtic men it has ever been my pleasure to know and have as a friend.. Long before the advent of cheap flights and high speed boats Kidso made his way from ireland to Celtic park numerous times throughout a season, I was fortunate enough to have went with him on a brave few occasions. we bunked boats as we didn’t have any money to pay, we hitched lifts, we bunked trains, but no matter how we got to celtic park-we always got there even though the journey sometimes took a full day or involved sleeping rough somewhere or other before we hitched another lift from stranraer, cairnryan, ayr or wherever we ended up.. Kidso was always the life and soul of the party-he was a great craic to be with and most of the regulars in derry trainors became very good friends-even though he was just a young lad.. he was fanatical about celtic, lived and breathed everything about the club.

Kidso, although he came from a nationalist/republican background was never much into politics, he was more into fashion, music and celtic-he never bothered much with what most of us were into at the time. Through his brother Jim (drummer in stiff little fingers) he got a job as a roadie for a number of high profile bands in the late 70’s early eighties.. bananarama, FB3, spandau ballet, paul weller etc, but he still made his way up to glasgow whenever he could to watch the ‘tic.

He was home for a few weeks holiday in 1983, out one day with a few mates and having a carry out they decided to head back home as it was near dinner time and everyone was heading out again that night.. The lads were stopped by a British army patrol at the top of the Whiterock road, they were searched and generally harrassed before kidso walked away on to the monagh road toward his parents house- he was wearing a pair of shorts and was carrying a flimsy t-shirt, he had been searched and given all the details that were required of him, saw no further reason to stand and be harrassed so he walked on, he got about 50 yards up the monagh road when private ian thain-a british soldier knelt down on one knee, raised his rifle and shot him dead.. Kidso Reilly was murdered on the street on the 9th of August 1983.. twenty four years ago today.

Ian Thain became the first british soldier to be convicted of murder whilst serving in Ireland, he claimed he thought kidso was carrying a weapon-a claim dismissed by the judge as thains patrol had searched Kidso barely two minutes earlier, a claim further rubbished by the fact that kidso wore only a pair of shorts… ian Thain was sentenced to life imprisonment-and the reilly family seemed to have got at least some sort of justice. But nothing is quite as it seems with the brits and Ireland. Thain was released after serving only two years in “military custody” and was sent back to his regiment to serve again, he was placed back in the army-a convicted murderer serving and in the payment of HM the Queen.

Kidso’s parents both died heartbroken, they idolised their son as all parents do.. Kidso worshipped his parents-he was good and loving son.

At this time kidso’s brother Michael is attempting to find out answers to a lot of questions, such as why thain was re-admitted to the british army-a convicted murderer, what was his role in the army after his release and many other questions.. i don’t want anyone to sign petitions or anything else…

But please, if you have a God, say a little prayer for Thomas “Kidso” reilly, a Celtic man in the truest sense of the words and say a little prayer that his family get the answers and the justice they deserve.

Kidso Reilly…1961-1983… God bless you mate.. you’ll never walk alone

    HAIL,HAIL

    iainmhor

Thain and Lee Clegg same script. Still going on with brit murderers in the Middle East and no convictions. Same story for the polis. Whens the last time one of them was found guilty and sentenced for murder?

Dallas – I’ll never forget the day Kidso Reilly was shot.

We were sitting in my Aunt’s,house waiting on my cousin returning from Raffo’s chippie at the top of the Whiterock.

She ran into the house in tears, saying that Kidso Reilly had just been shot dead.

It was a beautiful summer day, but a tense atmosphere began to descend over the district.

He was only young when he was killed, but was already a local legend, working as a roadie for bands such as Spandau Ballet and Bannanarama.

A genuine Celtic fanatic if ever there was one.

I’m sure Kidso would have loved that Celtic exhibition today.

    Hail Hail.

  17. John Collins doesn’t need the money from media work the others most probably do. He can speak freely the rest know they won’t get work if they are not negative.

  18. Corky HH

There ya go. Would disagree with some of the points. Kidso was political and a Reb but for the two years before he was murdered he was away with bands quite a bit. Jim the SLF drummer also supports the Tic but didn’t really travel to matches.

  20. Sorry for being part of introducing a sombre note on a great joyous Celtic day but at times we need to look back to move forward.

Anyway today will be remembered for many a day. God Bless The Glasgow Celtic & God Bless my all time favourite Celtic hero Tommy Burns.

Good Night & God Bless all of ye Celts out there wherever ye are in the world.

Good night CQN it’s been enjoyable, there must be nothing better in life than being a Tim, my Celtic never need to win but it’s magic when we do …….

    I agree . I wasn’t excusing them.

It’s sad the way players we idolised have turned their backs on us. Their loss.

  24. Just about to nod off.

Just one last thought . Can you imagine if the two or three players Brendan wants to sign have the same impact as Moussa and Scott, how good we will be.

  25. How could you not enjoy that JJ?

A special season indeed and definitely more to come. My only concern would be the MIBs but as someone posted on here today and as big Jock said “they cannot rule them all out”.

    Won’t stop them trying though.

That Kidso post from Dallas evoked a few memories. It was a girl he used to go out with that told me he had died. Then again you couldn’t have thrown a stone in the West and not hit a girl that Kidso had went out with.

Croppybhoy. Broomfield was another ground where it was an adventure getting out of.

My dad and I were in the Rangers end at the 1972 cup final against Hibs . it was mental.

Nine years later at an evening league cup section game at Easter Road , we were in the terracing opposite the main stand , and that was mental also. We had to get out after our second goal in that game or we would have got a serious kicking.

Corkcelt, Gearoid and 16 Roads , thanks for filling in a few gaps in what I knew about Tommy Reilly’s killing.

    He sounded like some man.

Another example of the British government ‘s hypocrisy, releasing the soldier and their disregard for the truth of what was happening in Ireland.

British media and governments go on about Republican terrorism but nothing about the state terrorism endured by the nationalist community.

  28. How many fouls did that thug cowie get away with?

    Prick.
