Half time…..happy but not comfortable. Izzy and JF need to get to bye line ( that’s now called a dead ball line for anyone under 40) and find angles. We are trying to play through 7/8 centre halves ( centre backs).
Sheer stupidity by Gomes, Hearts are neutered by numerical and playing superiority.
Complacency or similar stupidity are the only dangers to us here.

Why no ball boys at Tynecastle? Celtic players having to run 20 and 30 yards to retrieve the ball is not helping us. Oops! I think I just answered my own question.
Our lack of incision is a bit of a worry, even against a parked bus. 70% possession, 10 corners and only one goal. Why not put Griffiths on up front with Guidetti.

A Red Card changes a game but we were well in control of the passing before Gomis committed the offence (Bet he wishes his team mate hadn’t told the press that they intended to “leave the boot in” before the game).
Bitton does what Bitton does, apart from that stupid reckless tackle. He recycles the ball to a Celtic jersey. They are not always killer balls but, like Neil Lennon before him, that conservative football virtue should not be undervalued.
Guidetti gives us a good focal point. VVD and Stokes are both miles better than Thursday night.

Being a bit too over-elaborate at times but a very solid performance so far. Biton looks the part although he is getting more time than he might against a team with all 11 on the park. A second goal will kill this off and I fully expect us to get it before the hour mark, then it will be hopefully easy street.

The gulf in class between the two top divisions in Scotland is plain to see after 45 mins. Last week Hearts had probably their toughest league game playing the side in second place in their league who they brushed aside with ease. This week against the Premier champions they are being given a footballing lesson.
The sending off perhaps spoiled the game. The ref could have given yellow but chose to apply the letter of the law and sent the player off. I don’t know that the outcome would have been any different because we have been so dominant. The only trouble we have had is in the Hearts penalty box where we have been faced by 9 or 10 defenders crammed into the area but once we get another goal or as Hearst tire towards the end there could be an avalanche.
Good to see Biton in the midfield. He rarely wastes a ball. Izzy struggling with his crosses again today but is getting forward well. Efe doing well. Good finish by Virgil who made it look easy turning Stokes cross/shot into the net. He should have made it two from a Stokes corner later but somehow managed to knock it over from 1 yard out.
The Bhoys will be itching to get back out and finish this off. Hearts looking at a hiding today.
I hope Gollum doesn’t end up booking Efe ,or worse.
Twice in the first half he went up for a high ball, Keatings made no attempt to jump but backed into Efe who was penalised, when the foul was the other way.

I’d like to see Griffiths on 2nd half. We need someone who will have a snap shot from inside the crowded box. I think Id take James off, not that he is playing badly but his strength is in his pace and he can’t use it when Hearts are playing as deep as they are.

Not sure how anyone can suggest red card could have been a yellow. Two feet off the deck, flying in at pace with studs up. Red card every day of the week. He was trying to hurt Brown, show that Hearts wouldn’t be an easy touch. Stupid and dangerous.
Fell asleep after hoops goal, tepid with no purpose or energy..Made for Kris to come to leather them in from outside the box.

So many of our crosses/corners are over long. Why not put a man out there some time?

Absolute pet hate of mine. Stick a guy at the far corner of the 18 yard box who can watch the flight of the ball and get on the end of an overhit cross. Simples.
Other pet hates include a centre mid coming back to take a 2 yard pass off a centre half.
