Helsinki to heaven

684

So how many of us checked the fixture schedule a month or so back and thought, “We can win the league on the St Patrick’s Day weekend”?  Then came Motherwell and Ross County, now we will do well to win the league on the same date as Gordon Strachan’s team did in 2006. This seems to exercise Neil Lennon more than me.  I’ll take the win anytime, although where it’s won is far more important.

Having said that, anything other than a victory tomorrow would be a sign of something gone wrong.  Aberdeen have been wretched in recent months and the Celtic players have benefited from a rare free midweek, allowing rest and preparation.  They will also have more than sufficient feedback on last week’s capitulation to ensure muscles are itching to go.

This month’s edition of CQN Magazine has just launched, some have said the best yet!  We take you from Helsinki to heave, these have been special times for Celtic and we know how to enjoy them……….

It’s written by the CQN community, for the CQN community, and is absolutely free to read online (special thanks to those who voluntarily subscribed, the lights have been kept shining as a result).

You can read the Magazine by clicking on the double headed arrow at the bottom right of the graphic below.

  1. Astonishing revelations from Calderwood. Murray, Masterton, RFC, DAFC… we all knew it was as cosy as hell, but to have him confirm the close links…

Apparently – there’s more police at the Green Brigade march, than Green Brigade

There is. My son just showed me some pictures posted on twitter. A disgraceful waste of public money by Eck’s Army.

  3. Jobo – I think a backroom person who had worked for a long time with RFC (and also with TRFC since its inception last year) has passed away.

That’s what the SNP’s “evening up the statistics” looks like….

He was just unlucky that one of the several languages that Dr Jo was English!

    On Calderwood

Absolutely no surprise there then -did he not say at the time that he was going along for the atmosphere?

No need to say anything to your players if that is the way the manager sees things.

Another example of how unprofessional so much of Scottish football is – he would take DAFC’ money but not put in a full shift

  6. Taranis,

My tuppence worth on a location for your client and his good lady. The Park Bar comes highly recommended. It’s a well run shop from what I have seen. Your client may take the opportunity to dine in the Crabshak or indeed The Finnieston which would be a treat for the good lady….

  7. GB surrounded by hundreds of police and being stopped from heading up the Gallowgate. Rumour, police will hold them until they miss kick off.

    Welcome to Salmondland…

  8. They are wearing armbands as a long time employee died this week – laundry/canteen person. I sometimes (wrongly i know) have a quick look at their website to see the most up to date lies, mis-truths, nonsense and ramblings…can’t help it.

  9. I have had enough, if Celtic do not condemn the police action today they can ram their season ticket.

Ironic thing is, there are THOUSANDS of Celtic supporters streaming past to walk up the Gallowgate.

Why can’t the GB do it?

  10. Comes up on your Sky ticker

    ‘LIVE: Scottish 3rd Division Football’

Looks absurd. Sky should leave them to rot.

  11. The kettled Celts being let out three at a time. If they stop or refuse to leave area they’ll get lifted.

Just looked at those pictures – that is absolutely shocking. Nothing more than Police intimidation.

  13. It’s the job of the Lord Advocate to protect the people from the excesses of those in power or in authority. He should be called upon to do so. The present incumbent and his predecessor simply ignored that part of the job.

Both mediocrities. Salmond is happy with that calibre of person. The kind who can be relied upon to represent the interests of News International over those of the Scottish people.

Both apparatchiks were quick to hog the limelight and jump into the lead role in high profile, politically correct prosecutions. Both scored spectacular failures.

The Green Brigade can call upon the Lord Advocate to state his views on the legality of the treatment they are being subjected to. If he fails to act they could consider applying to the courts to pursue a private prosecution against those they consider guilty of malfeasance.

  14. On the upside, a visit to Elgin City would afford an evening in the company of the ladies of Joanna’s nightclub

  16. As an ex cop in Strathclyde I sometimes come on here and try and describe things from their point of view of what i’ve heard from friends still in the job and give a balanced view to some of the green brigrades rantings but the pictures and recounts of whats going on in the Gallowgate on twitter are indefensable, this is disgrace and is clearly House and his senior management flexing their muscles, I feel sorry for those fans caught up and those cops being forced to perform their duties in this manner.

  17. What right do they have to surround and hold those fans heading to the game. Disgusting behaviour by the authorities, cowards every one of them hiding behind the badge and probably loving every minute of it.

I hope and pray that the bhoys from the GB stay safe and get to the match unharmed.

So the Green Brigade aren’t allowed to do something that a group of Juve Ultras did in Glasgow ?

    Mmmmmmm

  20. That will be more young people entering the criminal ‘justice’ system after today. What a pathetic country!

Anyway not long till the long summer of marches all over Glasgow; kettleing anyone?

  21. The treatment of the GB is another narional disgrace. I’m sure the MSM will expose this intimidation of a group of football fans on their way to the game, maybe not. Abd that is another disgrace.

  22. St.John.Doyle on

I must have missed the vote by the SNP to create a Police state when will this persecution end.

Never trust the SNP pushed this act through against the clubs every other political party and the legal fraternity. Stupid Stupid Stupid.

Criminalising our support for going to a football match

Celtic side to take on Aberdeen: Forster; Lustig, Ambrose, Wilson, Izaguirre; Kayal, Mulgrew, Ledley, Commons; Hooper, Stokes

Subs: Zaluska, Lassad, Rogic, Rogne, Atajic, McGeouch, Samaras

Can you explain in layman’s terms what the police tactic looks to you to be here? I have never seen anything like that.

For example, are they obliged to explain to the people they are penning in what they are doing and why?

    Thanks.
