We cant claim inocence. Trivial differnces.IMO We need to get our house in order as I know we are not comparable to them. But …….but

…but …they just need one ….one idiot to do something & we are in the mire….with them as it suits the bigots in MSM & everyone else.

  2. Scottish is mostly a very safe environment. I havnt seen any real aggro for a long long time. Around Celtic Park (apart from the huns) most visiting fans mingle without any trouble. Today is nothing compared to the eighties casuals and common place bottle throwing era before that.

You and your family will be safe going to Parkhead. However I do not blame you in the slightest for being worried.

Be assured you will not Be the only parent thinking like this.

I have noticed a deterioration in the behaviour of football fans. I have also noted the poor attendances of the home supports at Edinburgh yesterday and Aberdeen today. Could the two be related ?

As previously posted I think Strict Liability or a draconian OB act rev 1 will be on the cards.

I fully expect this announcement at the SNP conference later this month. This will be a popular move with conference and will mask a whole lot of unpopular and failed policy.

We cannot say we haven’t been warned. I feel that even zero tolerance will now be too late. The stigmatisation is in full swing.

A minority ( although substantial) have undermined the great work of James Kelly et al .

Innocent football fans will pay the consequence.

    Glad to hear that mate.

I was seething last week like everybody else but you are so right about holding on to hate is not good for you.

Will never fully understand why he left so abruptly but I am very thankful for the incredible work he did for us.

Nothing can change history or take it away.

I really hope that one day he can be welcomed back to paradise but I think it could be many years.

Neil Lennon still respects Brendan and it appear PL does too.

Would love to see the hardcore Celtic support soften their stance on the issue of his leaving and just enjoy the continued glory years that show no signs of stopping.

Point taken, but didn’t dream of claiming innocence.

Smashing a seat is wanton vandalism and should be stopped forthwith.

Projecting a plastic seat into a crowd of fans with the clear intention to mame, takes

the act to a different level of criminality.

Criminality that only Sevco fans are renowned.

    IMHO csc

  6. Aberdeen trained on the pitch yesterday and it hadn’t been rolled, it hadn’t been cut, it was windy, there was a lot of ball in the air. And Aberdeen are really effective at turning games physical.”

    Thanks for the advice mate.

Perhaps one of the early rounds Euro qualifiers in july/august would be a good start for them.

Also nice to spend a couple of days in scotland during the kids hols.

Aye, as long as we don’t draw Linfield again. :-)

I hope whatever game you choose that you all have a fabulous time.

    Physical , eh?

Hope Morelos wasn’t too traumatised by it.

  9. Chris Sutton has busy weekends….

I do like the big man

Full day on the sofa yesterday afternoon on BT sport.

Pundit during the Dons sevco cup tie for Premier sport today

And on BBC 5 live phone in right now after the mersyside derby.

I am sure he has managed a few jagged tweets to those that deserved it too accross the weekend

  10. I didn’t see or hear the sevco game today but three times this week they have come out about bad behaviour of their fans. The latest one almost shocked me. They admitted unacceptable songs and chants.

Did it make any difference? Was their ‘songbook’ improved?

I didn’t have the…..errrrr……’.pleasure’ of watching today’s feast of football . I’m sure Seethy G will be fining Goldson a weeks wages for lowering himself to the level of those thuggish Aberdonians.

  13. Am afraid all this internet outrage and being safe at games ???

There has always been idiots at football and by association football will attract idiots, attending games in this day and age is just as safe as attending any event when tens of thousands of people are attending

On our ex-manager who was a brilliant success with us and I am so glad for all the good things he brought to our team … but I fair cheered that Watford winner …. shallow ? Your dam right…. sometimes in fact usually the grass isn’t greener elsewhere

Still buzzing about Neil Francis winning two away games back to back not sure of this Celtic team have done that this season, certainly not consecutively :-) … and if we haven’t played two away games in a row that doesn’t suit my point

Hope Neil is here for many trophies my type of Celt ?

Is that really a sleazy Gee comment? If so,he would have tested staff at Betchley Park.

  15. Shocked that the usually impartial BBC hasn’t reported on the outrageous behaviour of supporters at todays Scottish cup quarter final. Where objects where thrown, spectators endangered, and seats damaged. Even more concerned that scrupulously impartial Jurnos from the written press haven’t named some of the family friendly ditties being sung at todays game.

    Oh wait Celtic weren’t playing.

  16. Even The Special one has an opinion on Rodger’s flit.

Former Manchester United and Real Madrid boss Mourinho insists that if he was in Rodgers’ shoes he would’ve stuck around in the Scottish Premiership until the end of the campaign, whilst calling Celtic a ‘giant club’ in the process.

    ———————————————

To punish clubs for fan behaviour defies logic.

Football hooligans behave like football hooligans because:

    – they are unlikely to get caught despite the huge sums shelled out on police, stewards and CCTV

    – licensing laws and TV timings help hooligans get drunk before kick off

    – some young supporters are taking advantage of historically cheap cocaine.

Neither the media nor Scottish Government understand the distinction between sectarian chants and ‘political’ songs. Quite possibly, they are both offensive. But it is dishonest to claim they are both the same.

  18. I remember when smoking was not just acceptable, but encouraged. We ran down to buy fags for our parents. Tobacco advertising was big business.

Kids got smacked routinely, usually for being outside all day and forgetting to come home when it got dark.

TV shows like ” Love thy Neighbour and Benny Hill ” were mega popular.

Lots of time and effort went in to painting Hard Hats in your teams colours.

A ” cargo” of cheap wine was a pre requisite for going to games and we were all experts in opening cans up to do the necessary.

    Seat belts were for others.

There was still rampant discrimination against homosexuality, even although it was legalised the year Celtic won the big eared cup.

I could go on and on, however the point won’t change.

What was acceptable or understandable years ago cannot be used as an excuse for what is happening now in 2019.

  19. in amongst all the 70’s throwback vibe that seems to have come over football recently — great to see that humour still is the best way forward.

DJ at Watford — I salute you.

Playing JCGE at the end of the game was just pure football gold.

Hopefully the GB can respond in kind to our friends in the south.

The land of stacking chairs, Scammell Trucks and Luther Blissett is now with us.

BR — this is what you have let yourself in for.

You have left the land of the Lions to play second fiddle to the Tigers.

The Mercury is only interested in winners.

Struggle to understand why you would have issues with attending a game with your daughters?

Unless they are very young and they would have general issues with crowds and noise then CP is a good place to start. As noted by others outside of the TFOD2.1 then the game and the walk to the ground are pretty safe places to be around.

Usual zoomer factor is in play but then it is not so much football at the moment but life in general and you have the safety of crowds going for you where giving out snash to a family including young children is a capital offence.

Age comes into it but you should be OK.

The Scottish establishment intend to use the term Sectarian to its fullest extent under the soon to be seen ‘Strict Liability’ legislation. That is

Caused by or feeling very strong support for the religious or political group that you are a member of, in a way that can cause problems with other groups:

Whereas the term Sectarian, in a Scottish context, has always until recently been considered to mean an act motivated by religious intolerance / hatred. With the Scottish establishment failing at numerous attempts to equate the singing of Irish songs of Rebellion with that of a crime motivated by religious hatred they have now decided to use the catch all term Sectarian regardless if the song is of a religious or political nature. Hence the push for Strict labiality. Sing BOTOB in a football ground and the club will be cited for allowing its fans to sing a sectarian song – club fined or docked points. Hell – sing Grace at a football ground and some would, and probably will construe that as Sectarian.

    Interesting question

I actually did watch their game and apart from noting there was just zero football played you simply didn’t hear their support. The microphones really only picked up Aberdeen chants. Now call me a cynic but maybe the mikes were placed to ensure no crap came across!!

Textbook example of partial, slated and forced journalism to try and provide some “balance / equivalence” to a particularly ugly situation.

It highlights the poor standard of journalism in Scotland at the moment where every effort is put in to spread the blame and not analyse what exactly is happening and why it is happening.

The fan footage from the Sheep end would suggest that the numbers involved was quite large and it showed the seat being thrown from the TFOD2.1 support.

Unfortunately Scotland 2019 / the land of Nat milk and honey cannot deal with these issues.

we are the best wee country in the world and reality cannot get in the way.

Scary that these issues got more detailed analysis in the press in the 70’s and 80’s.

What was once the nonsense that was spouted by the SP is now the majority narrative.

We are going backwards at a rate of knots.

  26. Article in the ‘Mail on Sunday’ in England today with the sub headline describing ‘Winning titles in Scotland is like shooting fish in a barrel’….The writer is the esteemed premier sports buff ‘Oliver Holt’.

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-6764563/Rodgers-showed-ambition-winning-titles-Celtic-like-shooting-fish-barrel.html

He is a condescending English prick of the highest order.

I replied in the comments section.[markbrad88]

‘Funny because surely ‘shooting fish in a barrel’ would be a better description for the route for the English national team from qualification to the semi finals of the world cup last june…Even if you describe Scottish football as a two horse league then at least Celtic by that definition would have to overcome at least one other club [rangers] of similar size en route to winning any competition.England on the other hand manage to avoid playing any team of similar high ranking and when they do they get beat.Three times by my recognition…But honours and back slaps all round to the three lions heroes..Not to mention the column inches by the likes of the poor hack who wrote this piece. ‘
