To be fair with much the same players Celtic have had similar results and under par performances at the likes of Easter road.
However it was always with a possession based game that was not working and the main gripes we all had was the ‘too slow’ or ‘too many safe passes’.
Today was very different.
We actually defended very well and credit to the manager for that once again.
But going forward and general play was shocking and 3rd rate.

My motivation for criticising Olly’s performance was the evidence of my own eyes. He played poorly and wasted possession on numerous occasions. He was dispossessed almost every time a Hibs player challenged him, and showed no positional sense at any time. More worryingly, he showed little appetite to even put a shift in, which imo illustrates his conviction to the Celtic cause.
Lennon watched this, why did it take him so long to hook him?

So the unthinkable scenario that has been slotted never to happen of us winning the title at Ibrox edges closer as a running bet.
It would be one thing winning the title at Ibrox in a canter towards the title. But if it does get that far the manky mob will go into that game with genuine hope that they could pull off the title.
It will be a very dangerous in terms of safety fixture from a player and limited celtic fans point of view.

Hello again all you young rebels.
Not our best day, so many things i could pinpoint, but another step
towards the illustrious 10.
I suppose we’ve got to accept the other team are busting a gut to either
impress future employers aka Mcginn ,or just they don’t like Celtic.
Me, i’m happy with a point, and when you calm down and think about
it we don’t need to win every game.
But you negs will have a different attitude as is your right but ffs lighten
CQN’s great Celtic mind ThomTheThim predicted some moons ago that ‘the late goals’ wouldn’t always come’, prophetic words following NFL’s ‘ my job is to get this team over the line ‘. The task given to him by the flak evading power broking multi millionaire’s of Celtic, passed the baton firmly to Neil ( he brings it all on himself) Lennon.
Celtic weren’t hungry, today, good players passed the ball, and the buck, after Andy Walker’s early anti Celtic excitement when Hibs threatened to get a corner, the is the only ex Celtic player that gets enraptured, when his old club get denied a penalty? It was admittedly one way Celtic traffic where in an identical fixture BR-exit ‘screwed up’ big time bringing home nil points, this season.
Neil Lennon opened with what he saw as his best hand, but too many of the let down with 12 games to go, let him down and couldn’t give him another cup tie, and reverted to running on empty, like the Livingston game.
Too many poor performers to ‘escape goat’, inadequate challenge, or even cover in both full back positions, total lack of variation in system thought, never mind midfield, Ntcham?. Tired ‘been there done it’ dynamic from the players, let down the big Celtic end, and anybody but Celtic Scotland, have their touching distance, if not this season maybe next?
The treble, treble challenge was gifted to Neil, when BR ratted on his club, his contract, his players, and his fans, I hope Neil takes the challenge and saves the blushes of the Celtic hierarchy, that helped caused this ‘legginess’ they might not see nine in a row, without much thought and big spend in summer.

I have no idea what Timo Weah has to do for a run in the side. He was given 5 mins and actually was more direct and more creative than Forrest had been in the previous 85. Wee James should never have stayed on. Scott Sinclair is filling a shirt. That’s all. Ntcham was on fat longer than he should’ve been and Rogic should’ve been picked ahead of him.

What is even simpler is the expectation that a team will play like “that” for a complete season. “That”, whether it is good, average or bad “that”, is present throughout a season of ups and downs. What is to be expected is inconsistency. Consistency or uniformity of performance would be the surprise. Barca, Man City, et al have off days. The best teams have fewer off days and more on days. They still win leagues
Very lazy performance by a squad that needs new blood and new leadership.
It was an end of season performance and it was end of season. Unlike the last 0:0 draw I witnessed at Easter Road, in the “Buy Steven Fletcher and we win the league” season I saw a much more tired and worn out performance than I saw today and that cost us a league. And Steven Fletcher, on that pitch, was more tired and inept than any Celtic player was.
On balance I have been in the “Don’t give NFL the job” camp since the beginning. However, I am grateful for his availability and service in steadying our ship when Brendan left us shocked and reeling, split from top to bottom by those who were still pining for him, and those who saw him as the 2nd re-incarnation of MoJo. NFL has done a great job in seeing us over the line- I am sure we will get there, having done the hard work but Neil is still not my first choice for the club. I would place him higher up in consideration than Davie Moyes, Malky McKay, Paul Lambert, Alex Neil or Shaun Maloney. If he gets the job, I will stand by him.
But, if there is an interesting coach of a higher calibre available, I would let NFL go with our thanks. Winning 9iar and 10iar is going to be hard and harder. Neither continuity or change will guarantee anything. Gutting from top to bottom engenders wariness at the absence of familiar dependable. Doing nothing engenders complacency. I hope and believe that we will go for a more balanced approach.

Today is a reminder why I don’t come on this blog after dropping points. I’m not over the moon about the result or the performance but witnessed much worse under the snake this season. If we win next week then we are on 81 points which can only be equalled and not surpassed by only one team. We could conceivably win the league next weekend without kicking a ball despite the fact that “sevco are far superior to Aberdeen.” ?
I read Chris Sutton’s comments and I am sure his sources are probably better placed than any I have.
There may be a need to get some high earners off the wage bill but the approval for all those contract extensions in BR’s time (Forrest, Rogic, Tierney, McGregor, Ajer etc;) were approved by both PL and DD.
I cannot see a huge reduction in player outlay risking any last, last, last, last throw of the financial dice by Sevco in going for 9iar.
However, were we to lose Scott Sinclair, for example, who has contributed a lot of goals but some indifferent performances, I would not cry much. Or Ollie Burke. Mikel Lustig going, I would regret as we have no adequate replacement in either Toljan or Ralston yet.
I predict that Karamoke Dembele will be putting the pressure on James Forrest’s position next year. He looks good enough at the moment to get a 10 minute appearance in one of our final 2 games this season.
