Football goes in cycles. The high of Rodgers’ first season balanced the low of Deila’s last. I think this season will end in a treble, but will feel totally different to the first one. Partly because familiarity breeds contempt and partly because it will have been genuinely laboured.

I’m worried by our dire form, but heartened by how hard it is to score against use let alone beat us.

If we scrape over the line this year and the Huns win their last few games after the split (including against us), they will have some momentum going into next season – despite our treble and however much some will dispute this.

The team is jaded and needs a serious injection of fresh hunger. Some lacking hunger need to go (yes’ I’m looking a toy Ntcham. New and motivated players need to come in, with the necessary quality e.g. Weah if we can keep him a further year.

I’m conflicted about Lenny. I want him to succeed because he’s Lenny. At the same time I’m worried he might be yesterday’s man.

I’m also unclear about who would be a better choice. Rodgers was a no brainer when appointed, The clearly outstanding candidate. Right now, there isn’t an equivalent.

Right now, a Hun implosion is our best potential asset.

The modern football season, certainly for Celtic, is a long, slog for a lot of players, physically and mentally…

It’s surely not surprising their form can dip…but it’s very naive to suggest players are not trying…

and don’t overlook the fact that every team we face seems more than desperate to beat us…hence, the rough-house stuff we have seen a lot of recently…Celtic play cup finals every week….no other SPFL team faces the same demands…not even them! They are the peepil…we are the Champions! That’s the difference…

Get behind Neil and the bhoys!

  3. Lord save us.

Easter Sunday, a point closer to an EIGHTH title in a row and we are bickering like 7 year olds.

There’s no need to panic. We are sedately cruising to the treble.

Kilmarnock at Celtic Park next week will be one more step.

Was it McMillan who said “You’ve never had it so good?”

    The team’s performances are laboured.

Or do you dispute there can be a distinction between form and results?

  7. We draw 0-0 and it is the end of the World on here for some people. 207 have been killed and over 400 seriously injured by mindless bombers in Churches and hotels in Sri Lanka. I know which one is more upsetting for me. May they rest in Peace and may the injured recover. My thoughts and prayers are with them.

    Puts football in perspective.

I agree with you, but why do they want Neil to be our manager? They were terrified of BR, and clearly do not want us to hire someone of his ilk.

We weren’t laboured last Sunday, that’s inconsistency for you.

Like what CQN fills up when we don’t win?

I believe NFL did a remarkable job after BR – Exit in getting us past Hearts at Tynecastle with Eddy’s late winner, and then his comfortable win in the cup at Easter Rd, and that got us to the brink of treble treble.

His record in the must wins is very good, until the next one which is now Celtic v Kilmarnock and his future obviously depends on an unimaginable better than 55 thing?

Has there ever been a temporary manager that won a treble, treble then got told he wasn’t getting the job full time?

I hope we win the treble treble…………………….. full stop.

  10. Getting over the line even when you have a healthy lead is always difficult. Other teams know what’s at stake & they either up their game or sit in and frustrate you & points can be hard to come by. We have 4 games & need 4 points to ensure the Title.

I definitely expect us to beat Killie next week & get the point we need at Aberdeen.

Now if it goes pear shaped against Killie, I will immediately apply for membership of the worried Club but till then I remain on the contented side.

I defer any opinion on whether Lenny should get the job full time or not until this season is done & dusted.

They were terrified of Brendan were they? aka Brenda ( in every workplace in Scotland )

I gave up with ‘ brilliant Celtic tacticians ’ and Mr Suitables when we courted Owen ( where is he now?) Coyle, and further ‘screwed up’ with Tony ( where is he now ) Mowbray.

I don’t think Mr Right exists for Glasgow Celtic because this is not just about football, traffic cones, bibs, or the ultimate fit man, its about leading a cause, I’m well done with celeb coaches

We need a Celtic man, not an autobiographist, and the unpopular, thanks to bigoted little Scotland Neil Francis could shake the balls off BR, and did so, with inferior playing staff. Just think what he could do with ‘the backing’ BR allegedly never did get.

  12. A cracking Easter Sunday slightly tempered with those pesky Celtic players only adding another point in the quest of an eighth (8) title … unbeaten domestically in 2019, and even though I am a massive Craig Gordon fan, credit where credit is due Scott Bain has yet to suffer defeat domestically and has only lost 7 goals this year (3 against Valencia & 1 where Motherwell did not act in the interest of football anywhere :-)

Neil is doing his job just now and I might have picked this up wrong (I usually do) but we, Celtic, haven’t won at Easter Road in the league for last 5years … so surely 0-0 should not be too much a surprise … although still not top of the first 15min league but didn’t extend our control of still being top of the last 15min league :-)

9pts clear with 12pts to play for, league cup in the trophy room and a wee day oot on 25th May 2019 to look forward too… ach we have been in worse positions

Yes, Hibs could have won the game in most 0-0s any of the sides could snatch a winner and Bain had a great instinctive save … your “closely followed by” comment seems that you also believe the Hibs goalie was man of the match, I don’t think man of the match was close at all but each to their own… just matching the 2 goalies if you think they had similar performances well that’s fair enough but in my opinion they were miles apart today while playing the same position

There’s the rub I do not believe the Hibs keeper was TMOTM. 1 great save, a couple of ‘for the camera types easy saves, and 1 other decent save. On par with Bain i’d say that is 1 crucial save. But its all about opinions I guess.

    Same wavelength :-)

Couldn’t disagree apart from I think he was man of the match, free kick from Odsonne, the one on one with Odsonne and Ncham save in the first half weren’t “telly saves” but am sure you will agree he was a lot busier than his counterpart

On the performance I totally agree there was much to criticise (in parts :-) but again another point on the way to hopefully clinching 8…

  25. I’ve been unhappy with the style of play since Neil’s return. The notion of getting if forward quicker didn’t excite me.

But today I thought that was a great game. Both teams going for a win.

A scoreline of 4-2 in our favour wouldn’t have been surprising. 0-0 certainly was. At the end both keepers were responsible for the duck eggs. Sure those attempting to score could have “done better” but they didn’t.

Izzy and Ntcham were poor for most of the game, however their inclusion in the starting line up didn’t raise my eyebrows so I’m not going to pass judgment in hindsight.

In summary, we did enough to win but a draw was ok for me,
