  1. My friends in Celtic,

Wow, that was hard going yesterday and I fear next Saturday against Kilmarnock will be similar.

Kilmarnock will sit in and hope to catch us on the break. It’s not a cup game so they don’t need a win on the day. I don’t know enough about the three red cards who will miss our game but I know their game plan will not change.

I really want NFL to succeed. To win playing entertaining football.

However I have a nagging doubt. After all Neil has done for us and the hastlle he has endured; I feel that to doubt him is showing disloyalty.

That is the quandary I face and I would wager that many of us are in the same boat.

    HH. The journey continues.

  2. Big Jimmy: agree with you about the yellow jersey we played in yesterday but disagree re the pink one. I thought it was lovely.

My favorite away jersey is the hooped all green jersey from last season.

Hope you are well and good to see you posting again.

  3. James Forrest @ 10.55 hrs.

That is some read. You make your points very eloquently and definitely provide food for thought.

In addition to what you say ,I also worry that Neil’s brand of football will not fill our stadium. We have a die hard home crowd of circa 30 to 35 k. To fill the rest of the seats on a regular basis we need a mixture of entertainment, winning, personalities with wow factor.

I hate myself for doubting Neil, but as previously stated I have this nagging feeling eating inside me.

    HH to you.

Beg to differ mate , are you happy with our performances lately.

But I suppose you are entitled to your opinion as I am mine

Apologies for being flippant. My point is that, this is a talented young group of players who have won a lot of games for Celtic in the last few years. They have underwent an unwanted change in coach but have still kept going. Another treble is in hand even if Celtic aren’t playing with style.

Celtic need to appoint a coach who can get something extra out of the talented group of young players we have on long-term deals.

Contracted til 2022: Odsonne Edouard, Leigh Griffiths, James Forrest, Scott Bain, Ryan Christie, Olivier Ntcham, Kris Ajer, Jack Hendry, Tony Ralston, Vakoun Issouf Bayo, Ewan Henderson

Contracted til 2023: Callum McGregor, Tom Rogic, Kieran Tierney, Mikey Johnston

We have invested our future in this group and they will be the basis of the squad going forward.

Thats basically a matchday squad of 15 players nailed down on long-term deals.

  5. i'vehadtochangemymind on

How can you judge lennie when he’s been dropped into an injury riven, poor performing squad (yes, we’ve had poor form this year) at the worst time in the season?

  6. A hero just last week

    Callum ( invisible ) MacGregor

    Odsonne ( lazy ) Edouards

James ( escape goat ) Forrest

Mikael ( legs gone ) Lustig

Stick on draw after knocking Hibs out of the cup, and regularly failing to beat them in the league.

There’s no question we’re on reserve fuel, and although a hard game was expected it was the level of performance that disappointed, passing instead of shooting is a trademark of tired minds.

Another week to prepare for a difficult home game, the SFA thought long and hard how to fix the split fixtures, but NFL has to make telling changes to pick up the necessary points, and Pittodrie would be nice place to win the league given they are still the second most dominant force in Scottish Football,

  7. At the west end park with wife, daughter & granddaughter, for anybody familiar with Coatbrig the West End Bar has changed its name the wife said “what’s that all about” it’s now called “the 33rd County” the orange walkers will be a bit miffed when they are marching by (all summer :-)

    ——————————–

As far as I know there is a waiting list of thousands for season tickets, regardless of whom may or may not be manager next season.

    HH. ?

  9. I put yesterday, on reflection, down as a bad day at the office, that’s all. BUT, if i and many others can see that Odsonne is not an out and out striker, why can’f Neil see that. After all he iS an experienced manager and he surely can see that, surely. Odsonne needs help, a quick thinking mate (Lubo springs to mind) who is on the same wavelength as him, but hte only persons who seems to almost fit the bill are Timmo, or Rogic or possibly even Calmac. And why play only one striker, doesn’t make any sense to me, but, what do I know!!!!

And please, all you out there who know continually knock Legs have gone, Lustig, think again and take the blinkers off.

    KINGLuBO

  10. Neil must know he’s failing the audition ,given his state of mind, and the way he left Hibs, assistant manager at Celtic could be as good a job as it gets,if we bring in a foreigner, i want a Celtic man in there beside him,NL could be that man.

  11. 16 Roads,

Yes, they have told us there is a 10 k waiting list.

Subsequently that must mean that our 53 to 54k season ticket allocation will be taken up.

Hopefully that is the case and we can retain these numbers.

Incidentally our enhancement of the match day experience must be our number 1 priority. That is a big ask as it covers so much but nevertheless.

    HH.

  12. BB @ 12.47 hrs.

That would be the ideal scenario, but it would need to be a really big name for Neil to accept this.

Whatever happens we must retain NFL in employment in some capacity until he choses otherwise. ( Yes i know , We are already accommodating John Kennedy)

    HH.

  13. Ray Singh-Carr on

Whilst I have the utmost respect for Lenny as both a player and a manager, and for riding to the rescue when Brendan bailed out, I don’t believe he is the man to take us forward. I appreciate that he has inherited a squad that seems intent on lurching from one injury crisis to the next, and that there are a lot of tired bodies out there, but we are having too many of these lackadaisical performances recently.

I know we also saw this under BR, but I really feel that the new boss has to spot that and change it.

Do we even practice corners and set pieces in training for example? We look toothless each and every time.

I know we are a bit short of out and out attackers, but at the start of this season when we played with 2 up front we were battering teams. Surely Eddy could be partnered with Scotty or Jamesy to provide more threat? And just why did Ntcham get the nod over Rogic for a starting berth when he has not been at the races for weeks now?

    Perplexing stuff.

Not a problem mate .we all share the welfare of our club . Agreed we do have some up and coming talent .and some established players on long contracts . I just feel we need an injection of real quality into the side .

  18. James Forrest

I agree with your conclusion that we should and could aspire to recruit a better coach than NFL.

A couple of caveats in terms of your evidence, if I may….you say,

‘A Rodgers Celtic team would have been looking to run up a cricket score against them. (ref the last Glasgow derby following the red card)

For me, the sad reality is that it’s been a very long time now since I expected a big win against thems….even just 10 of thems…

In fact, had you shown the match to someone unaware of rogers’ departure, I doubt they’d have noticed much of a difference.

Your other point I’d take issue with is Jonny Hayes. I didn’t want us to sign him. I agree he’s a good SPL pro, but no more. But I’d pick him every week right now over Sinclair because Hayes’ 100% offers far more than the half hearted Sinclair we’ve all seen for much of the season.

That apart, I can’t disagree. So I’ll give you 7 out of 10!

  19. James Forrest has every right to give his opinion regarding Celtic, everyone has a right to give an honest opinion.

Turns out Neil Lennon has a plan after all..

  25. As long as they’re not 0-0 draws, On Sunday Celtic could have lost the game when Hibs almost scored in the 4th minute of extra time.

  26. Always the risk OT67 so we shouldnae play for them, naesurname would, but it’s just a possible scenario.

  27. TONTINE TIM.

I mentioned 0-0 because it means that Celtic didn’t get a goal in 90 mins ,I could accept Celtic losing a match if the opposition scored more than us, thats what the game is all about. I was quite depressed after the game on Sunday because we couldn’t score any goals with the amount of chances we had.

C’mon guys – screw the nut. We’re all Celtic fans here.

Different opinions about what’s the best way forward, that’s all.

Please, just agree to disagree and keep civil.

Hate seeing Celtic fans having a go at each other – God knows that there are plenty others out there who wish Celtic ill without us fighting each other. Life is too short and we need to stick together.

  29. Good article by James Forrest

I stand by the call I made the day after Rodgers exited, we should be looking for an innovator, someone who challenges each and every player in the squad, someone who improves every player through coaching. If they “get” Celtic then that is a bonus, nothing more.

Slavisa Jokanovic ticks most of the boxes for me. Fulham fans would have him back tomorrow , still available after knocking back WBA.

  30. GuyFawkesaforeverhero on

Following the academy twitter, celts 3up v ‘well 65mins mikeyj. Now doing the arithmetic for 25mins v 2nd half collapse. Think we’re ok to replace ‘well on top temporarily. Pile on the goals is a good idea bhoys.
