  1. Hail Hail

Sing Celtic [Keltic] shongs…. (why do we never put an ‘h’ after the C In Celtic? Suppose we’re not Cheltic then?? My afterthoughts are crazy at. Times?????;))

    Shimple…

And no, I don’t have a lisp. Apologies to any PC brigade that may take offence by inferring that I’m implying making fun of those with a lisp. Why would anyone do that??‍♂️

So here’s the rub…. sing Celtic songs…. almost like a songs of praise. Hymns…if you like…

Embrace these times, be thankful and joyful. What’s not to like?

Stop finding scapegoats and support like we did in 2008. In 1998. We’re in a far better position now, more potential, more growth…. on the back of unprecedented achievements in an ever changing and evolving environment.

    Embrace it

Garry YNWA – stay strong ma Mhan ???

  2. Good morning friends from a dry, bright, calm and geting warm again East Kilbride.

4 points away from 8 (EIGHT) in a row and just 4 more sleeps until we have the chance to secure 3 of them. And for some of us (well maybe just me and The Battered Bunnet) three’s the anticipation of Saturday’s double header – Celtic v Kilmarnock at 12.30 then a made dash back home for the 3pm game, EKFC v Cove Rangers in the first leg of the Pyramid Play Off. What a time to be alive ;-)

  3. Make of this what you will….

Since Sundays game, I and others have Posted about how poor some of our players were in the 1st half, especially the first 20 Minutes or so. N’Cham was especially poor, as has been acknowledged by most on here.

I’ve just read an interview with Neil Lennon from yesterday and NL is quoted as saying…” I gave the Players the Hairdryer treatment at Half Time, as we were poor in the 1st half, ESPECIALLY during the first 20 minutes, when I thought that i was watching a different Celtic team, that beat Aberdeen 3-0″….or words to that effect.

While I admire NL and his honesty, the question that I ( and others ) Posted on here since Sunday was…” Why wasn’t N’Cham subbed in the 1st Half etc” as HE was certainly the poorest in that spell, and why wait until around the 62 minute do sub him and bring on Tom Rogic, when the Celts were crying out for change ( where have i heard that before ?

As I say, i admire Neils honesty, but HE has just admitted that HE ALSO witnessed how Poor we were especially in that first 20 Minutes….but DIDN’T Change it ?

I do find that rather concerning. The old belief ( which is still relevant), is that “You have to make things happen, as You can’t just continue and hope that everything will work out”…surely should have applied on Sunday ?

NL doesnt need any football advice from Me, but I hope that he has learned something from Sundays game. i also think that we had around 7 Players who did okay, not ALL were poor.

  4. I see that Ex Ref Charlie Richmond wants Killie manager Stevie Clarke BANNED for 8 games, just because he had an opinion of how Ref Steve McLean should never Ref another Kilmarnock game, as his Father previously played for Kilmarnock some years ago, due to sending off 3 Killie Players v Aberdeen on Saturday ?

I don’t recall Richmond having anything to say about The Huns statement about Willie Collum, and how Collum hasn’t Reffed a Hun game since last year against St. Mirren ?

I also don’t recall Richmond saying anything, when Gerrard stated after the 1st game of the season ( v Aberdeen), that Rangers NEVER get any decisions ?

    Funny that ?

  5. ALMORE,

Thanks for your kind Post the other Day about Me Posting again.

I was just lurking for some time due to there being some absolute ROASTERS on here who, each and every day, Post absolute CRAP about nothing of any Interest and Mis Information about Celtic etc etc.

I have only recently began Posting again, albeit selectively, and I see that the same ROASTERS still inhabit this Place…which is a pity.

IF I was a Lurking Hun on here, I would be laughing at some of the Topics that are Posted on here and thinking “How Sad those Tims are” !

As it is, I aint NO Hun ( Lurking or otherwise, as You well know ), but I do CRINGE in embarassment when I find myself starting to read some of the “Posters/Roasters” on here, and I get angry with myself for even starting to read the same absolute DRIVEL, that some on here actually believe is worth Posting about ?

So many “Attention Seekers”, Drama Queens, Bores and Badly informed Chumps, but overall some very Sad individuals, who IF I was standing next to in a Bar or next to at Celtic Park…I would have NO hesitation in removing myself from their Presence.

Think I’ll go back to Selective Lurking once again !

I hope You and your family are well ALMORE, maybe see You again for a Beer…or 10 ?

  6. Before anyone MAYBE asks me to ” Name Names”…You know who you are…and those REAL and Genuine Posters on here who make a great contribution to this Blog, also know who The Roasters are…Methinks !

in the past, whenever I have met up with some of the great Celtic Men on here for some beers etc, we do actually talk about “The Roasters” on here ( albeit briefly), and how their Drivel ruins what should be a very Good Celtic blog. Yes, we DO mention/state the Names of those “Roasters” and the Crap that they continually Post….Ive yet to find ANY of Those Celtic Men actually disagreeing with Me ( and others), on WHO and how this Blog can be overrun with Absolute drivel.

    AFF OOT !

so lets sub ncham after 20 mins (btw he was okay from 20 till half-time)

what does that do to his confidence ? his morale for the next few crucial weeks ?

what does that do for his price if we want to sell him ?

we’re in the last lap of a potential treble and we want the INTERIM manager to do something no other celtic manager has ever done before in an away game versus the other form team in scotland whilst still level in the game.

    no chance.

N’Cham was NOT “Okay” after the first 20 minutes….maybe you should read what NL thought ?

His “Confidence2…what Confidence….was that N’Cham playing WITH Confidence…Feck, I hope i never see him when he Plays with NO confidence.

HIS “Morale” ?….what about the TEAMS MORALE ?

What about the Supporters ( who Paid GOOD Money) to see a Good/excellent/…..confident, morale boosting Performance from a Highly paid Individual, who had very good Celtic Players all around him and he couldnt Pass a Ball 10 feckin yards to any of his Team Mates ?

If I was a “Joiner”, and My Gaffer is watching ME during a terrible job for at least 20 minutes…would THAT Gaffer just stand by and let me continue ?….Don’t think so .

    Big Jimmy,

NO sure about the roasters, but agree wholeheartedly with your post at 07:20, about ex refs etc making big statements about managers and clubs while taking us for mugs that we don’t notice their ignoring of the hun, Sevco tribute act’s worse deeds.

And as for the disguised “better for Scottish football” comments for Celtic to get beat…. – never heard this comment when old hun Rangers were cheating and buying (with never to be paid back borrowed money) their way to the tainted 9 in a row.

Ah, feel better now I’ve got that off my chest.

    Laters…

  10. I can see exactly why the squad is fatigued.

    1. European qualification starts so early that one season effectively runs straight into the next.

    2. Continually trying to create when facing 10 or 11 men behind the ball, while a 12th man MIB sanctions late hits throughout the game.

    3. A weekly diet that’s made up of many more Livingston ties rather than Liverpool…..Hearts not Hamburg. I mean not even Tony Macaroni grew up dreaming of playing at the Tony Macaroni stadium!

    RIP Captain.

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our father Billy McNeill. He passed away late last night (Monday, April 22) surrounded by his family and loved ones. He suffered from Dementia for a number of years and fought bravely to the end, showing the strength and fortitude he always has done throughout his life.

We would also like to note our love and appreciation to our mother, Liz, for the care, devotion and love she gave to our father throughout his illness. No one could have done any more.

Whilst this is a very sad time for all the family and we know our privacy will be respected, our father always made time for the supporters so please tell his stories, sing his songs and help us celebrate his life.

  14. Met him once, a lovely man. The word Legend is bandied about too much but Billy was and will always remain a true Legend, Rest in Peace Billy you will live forever in the memories of the Celtic faithful.

Peter Lawwell: Billy was a hero and a friend

By: Paul Cuddihy on 23 Apr, 2019 09:01

CELTIC Chief Executive Peter Lawwell has paid tribute to Billy McNeill, describing Celtic’s legendary captain as a great man who epitomised everything that is good and positive about the club.

Peter Lawwell said: “We have lost a great Celtic man with the passing of Billy McNeill, and I would first of all like to pass on my condolences on behalf of the club to Billy’s wife, Liz, their children, Susan, Paula, Libby, Carol and Martyn, and their grandchildren at this very sad time. Their loss is a deep and profound one, and I know that everyone, regardless of their football allegiance, will be sending their thoughts and prayers to Billy’s family.

“I also want to send my condolences to his football brothers, in particular, the Lisbon Lions, with whom he shared so many extraordinary triumphs with Celtic, but also to all the countless friends he made in football, people such as Mike Jackson, with whom he formed a lifelong friendship after the two of them were team-mates here in the late 1950s and early ‘60s.

“Billy McNeill was our greatest ever captain and one of the finest players ever to wear the famous green and white Hoops. His record as a player is extraordinary. He made 790 competitive appearances for Celtic – more than any other player in our history – and during that time he won nine league titles, seven Scottish Cups, six League Cups and, of course, the European Cup triumph in 1967.

“That remains the greatest moment in our club’s long and illustrious history, and the image of Billy holding aloft the trophy in the Estadio Nacional in Lisbon is an iconic one which is now immortalised in the stunning statue at the front of The Celtic Way.

“He also managed the club in two separate periods, winning a total of four league titles, three Scottish Cups and the League Cup. Among his many successes from the dugout are memorable triumphs such as the 1979 title win, when 10 men won the league and, of course, the Centenary Double success in 1988.

“He also become our first ever club ambassador in 2009, and there was no more fitting candidate to take up such a role than the man whom fans always knew and loved as Cesar.

“Those of us who were lucky enough to see Billy play, particularly during that golden era under Jock Stein, appreciate we were truly privileged to have done so. There were so many gifted players at the club during that time, and their leader on the pitch and in the dressing-room was always Billy McNeill.

“It has also been one of the great privileges of my life that, over the years, I got to meet and know Billy, not just as a great Celt, but also as a great man and someone I was delighted to call a friend. His presence on a matchday here at Celtic Park, where he would cheer on the team, was always a great opportunity to meet up with him, and it was also an indication that he always was, before everything else, a Celtic supporter, faithful through and through.

“It is often said that you shouldn’t meet your heroes, but with Billy, as with all the Lisbon Lions, meeting them has always been a wonderful experience. They have remained humble men, regardless of their incredible achievements as Celtic players, embodying everything that is good and positive about Celtic Football Club.

“This is the saddest of days for the Celtic Family, and also for the wider football world. We mourn Billy McNeill’s passing and we send our thoughts and prayers to his family and friends, while we also give thanks for Billy’s life and the incredible joy he brought to so many people as a Celtic player, a Celtic manager and a great Celtic man.”
