Benfica v Maritimo on freesports at 8.10pm probably better than Burnley v Chelsea :-)

Channel 64 on BT not sure what channel for sky but think they also have freesports channel

  3. GFTB @ 8:05 PM,

Yes, he was up for a wedding but no relations (and no time for visits) so looked very much from an outsiders point of view, yet to have a Chinwag about it…

Yes… a couple of years ago was up for an uncle’s funeral, the Priest referred to him as a Kirkwood character, I’m not sure where in the spectrum of normal that fits;)

    SID @ 8:00 PM,

    Well said…

On the tiredness thing, while many players have been out for a chunk of the Season I get the feeling fatigue (and battery – Fritzsong) has played a major part in this. Outside Edouard I’m not sure any players have came back “fighting fit”, KT being a case in point.

The squad played almost fifty European games under the last regime… crazy, when you take in the difference in standard, officiating, travelling that takes. The add to the fact we have played in every round of every domestic cup. It’s a tough ask when your asking the same players to step up to the plate over and over…

    Hail Hail

  5. BIG PACKY 1 @ 8:10 PM,

Yes remember the villages round the Monklands but I was from Airdrie and moved to England when I was young.

My dad’s from Coatbridge and both he and my mum went to St Pats… most of my Aunts and Uncles did along with my cousins until the “big” St Margrets opened.

My dad was born ON Cliftonhill…

So can’t really give you any info… St Ambrose was definitely Coatbridge, we used to do cross-country running from there.

    Hail Hail

  6. Chairbhoy 8.18pm

Well done for fitting Kirkwood and normal in the same sentence :-)

All kidding aside on the football whether it’s tiredness, fatigue, match fitness (Ncham / Rogic) Brendan leaving must be a major influence on our players … been on the go since June, when every qualifier was our biggest game of the season, then Athens then some good some bad Europa performances remember we were the third seed who qualified in 2nd place … anyhow another couple of victories in the league and am pretty sure 25th May the bhoys will end this season in style :-) we got am away point yesterday at a ground where the the manager has never been beaten in any league game he has ever managed in the Spl

    Enjoy your night fellow Celts

  9. BIG PACKY 1 @ 8:31 PM,

I’m in Wycombe, Bucks, hence the Moniker… have been, with a couple notable exceptions, in and around here since the mid-seventies. It’s kinda home now!!

    GFTB @ 8:35 PM,

Yes it’s been an interesting season and has had real successes. Lenny is expected not to change much but between him and John Kennedy are expected to do the work of four (highly motivated) people. Lenny having to use tactics and game plans he’s not familiar with and has been instructed not to change.

It’s a tough ask. And ending the Season in style on the 25th will be huge.

    Hail Hail

  10. CHAIRBHOY, probably passed your house many times on the m40 driving into London, and now and again the abercromby industrial estate, just off the A40 happy memories.hh.

With Sinclair and N’tcham showing little interest in Celtic and a great deal of inexperience in that squad. I can see your point of going down the Europa rather than UCL route.

Of course there are a few unknowns that might shine but teir three Europa is beckoning.

    Hail Hail

  12. BIG PACKY 1 @ 9:27 PM,

Yes, small world, we choose Wycombe because my Aunt and Uncle… from Coatbridge, were already here. My uncle’s factory was in the Abercromby Idustrial Estate. Worked there on Saturdays and during the School holidays… rather tired and run down there now.

Back in those days Rick Wakeman had a recording studio there…

Yes, the M40 was a great road, getting as busy as all the motorways now…

    Hail Hail

  13. TONTINE TIM @ 10:04 PM,

Well interesting, you’d have thought they’d have got on better;)

My Uncle had expensive stock and equipment protected by, for the time, a state of the art security system… vibrations would set it off… not ideal when you had a Rock Band belting out to all hours…

    Hail Hail

  14. Hunderbirds are Gone on

Whoever our manager is going to be next season, it is imperative that his first purchase is a dead ball expert. I can only remember us scoring from one corner all season (there might be more). On Sunday we had nine corners, and we only twice involved the Hibs goalkeeper. Once was to collect a floated high ball, and one ever was a smart save. One save from nine corners? Poor.

Free kicks outside the area are the same. There have been times I have expected Celtic to score from free kicks (Thompson, Nakamura). Nowadays… nah. Eddie drew a smart save from the keeper from one of two free kicks I can remember, so that’s not too bad, but how many goals have we scored from free kicks this season? Not enough, that’s for sure.

If we had converted one free kick yesterday and scored from even one corner, that’s 2-0, and we probably end up taking four or five off them, with the pressure off.

So, for me, the number one priority for recruitment is to procure a wide or midfield player who is also a dead ball expert.

Hello again all you young rebels.

Still stood standing here at the window hoping the postie

stops and delivers my wee parcel of Celtic goodies.

But no, he’s just drove by again.

I’m sure that posties a hun.

  16. I’m really toiling to buy this ‘we’re just very tired’ line (paraphrase).

In terms of Scottish football, we’re a Man City or ‘Pool – our deep squad filled with million-figure stars.

No other club spends as we’ve spent; position-for-position we should have better players in every dept.

We have facilities and resources, staff and support that other Scots clubs can only dream of. But we’re ‘tired’??

I didn’t hear Pep say his mob were running on empty when going for their quadruple (skooshed now anyway!)

In 2017/18, City played 55 games, many of them against really top teams at home & abroad. They competed.

I didn’t see insipid or wan performances week after week from them; sure, they got done, but they showed up!!

Our malaise isn’t physical – Neil himself said it on his weekend’s interview; it’s about attitude, hunger & spirit.

I’d also suggest it’s about the indecision hanging around the place about who’s in charge next year.

A former coach regularly had to tell me and my team-mates to ‘get the heid oan right’ – that wins games or, in the case of our lesser resourced SPFL counterparts, gets draws and sneaks wins against better teams. HH

    G’day QUADRO

Looks like everybody is off to bed so it’s Oz time.

Where is Macjay by the way?

Think you’ve got a point about ” get the heid oan right ”

it’s obvious some of ours haven’t.

They are certainly good players, hopefully they will find

    their form soon.

  18. Quadrophenian

Peps men get a longer close season.

Direct entry into “ champions “ league.

Until this season, they haven’t competed on every front.

They play in a league where mistakes are honest

The FTSFA have no influence in their league.

It is Celtic players, not Citeh , that have played more games than anyone else.

Fatigue has gathered over the last 3 seasons.

Fatigue of the mental & physical side .

It all adds up . KTF.

  19. MM – true, we have good players but I wonder if the heid thing is about ‘fear’; fear of losing their mojo, or not getting the 8, 9, 10 we expect them to?

ANGEL – Sure we play more games than them (but 55 top tier games last year musta been tough too)

If ‘fatigue’ has gathered; shouldnt that have been legislated for and managed out…with fresh blood etc?

And to your last point – as per my reply to MICK – our fatigue is mostly mental/fear driven and – fair play – could include the ‘peculiarities’ of the Scottish officiating scene. HH

All good points bhoys, lets hope Lenny can sort it.

Meanwhile our youths have a game down the rebel peninsula

    at Frankston this Sun.

Training tonight will definitely consist of ” getting their heids oan right ”

The first thing i’ll be doing is banishing all those young Sheilla’s who drift

over to run their eyes over our bhoys to the furthest away pitch possible.

  21. So many things going through my pea brain @ the moment.

Wan thing is certain, Celtic have played a lot mair games than maist teams because of being successful and because of the horrible Big League bias meaning our players get no rest unless they get an injury.

It has been bugging me for ages as why Brendan Rodgers would try and take out the backroom staff. Is this confirmed?

If it is, then it is a damning indictment on Brendan a lot worse, dare I say it, than leaving Celtic when going for a 3xTreble.

Stevie Woods was a bit older than me @ St Pats, Delighted he is doing so well, and Valued so much.

Scott Bain has been outstanding since he has been given the gig.

Celtic to the core – So many come frae the Olde St Pats in Dumbarton. I doubt many if any would Leave Celtic for mair Money when the Money is already astronomical.

    The Theory of Relativity… hmmmm

Kieran is such a mega component to Our Celtic side.

I hope Celtic make sure he is fully fit for Next Season. If that jeopardises a Treble Treble so be it. His A-Game has been sorely missed. No point patching up a young kid ffs. There is nae doubt that Kieran has heard about Sean Fallon and likely would play through anything to help the team.

Celtic with a 100% fit KT is Sensational.

Thank You for all you do on Match Days.

Garry, Molly is just preparing your bed in the House of the Lord, Eileen is likely putting a wee 4 leaf Clover there.

  24. Callum is so quick with his feet, the cluggers cannae hit him.

I found it interesting that Brendan tried Broonie ahead of Callum when he came back.

Broonie is such a Heroic figure. Celtic need to get better, a lot Better howevaaaaaah.

    Tune

Praise the Lord for Everything we have.

  25. Broonie is a specialist player, he reads the game so well, not as well as Neil Lennon did, IMO – experience means you learn the game inside out. Lenny was the absolute master of that.

Callum needs to be played more Dani Behr especially against packed defences.

The olde Celtic Park will be buzin’ when Callumstigator is pulling the strings.

  26. As I have almost completed another trip round the sun, I am getting fond of this song from the lastest Eastwood movie, The Mule.

Professional players with the latest in training and diet regimes.

A three week winter break and a week in the sun to recharge batteries.

Mostly young fit men at the peak of their ability.

    Highly paid highly motivated.

    Fatigue.
