Stats can be manipulated, I rely on my own judgement …. plus booing Neymar just makes him try harder against us than Rennes or Nice :-)

Hahaha – yes dont worry, cold hard facts can also be ignored when they don’t support your judgement, Gerry bhoy!

Another hard cold fact is Brendan has won 7 domestic trophies on the bounce … hopefully with more to come

    Hopefully being the operative word.

We’d want to be improving on 3 away wins in 9 if the league title is to be one of them,

I “think” we will improve on that in 2019…. playing every midweek is tiring, get through December in tact and we will kick on, am pretty sure of that

We’re hardly in tact already, 1 pt out of 6 at Fir Park & Easter Road, against two clubs in the bottom half of the table. I hope you’re right though.

Win our game in hand and we are top of the pile … so I think we are in tact :-)

Even more so as you point out how “bad” our away form is

Celtic fans never really differ GFTB :-)

  8. For anyone about to book flights we will be away from home for the 2nd leg, so Thursday 21st February…..

    ======

3 away wins out of 9 is not up to scratch for a club like Celtic playing their domestic football in Scotland.

Drawing and losing away to the clubs in 8th and 9th position in said competition is hardly coming out the month ‘in tact’ !

  10. The “easier” teams are slipping away rapidly…

Morning GFTB, I wasn’t blanking yer answer mate I had to go out not long after the game..

    Mon the Hoops

  11. Half way through and what we know so far is that we can’t get, among others, Cheski, Inter, Napoli, Genk or Eintracht Frankfurt…

Theres the issue…the time to fix it is now/January, not May.

The “issue” is May is when the medals are dished out…. again, I think our away form will improve in 2019… am pretty content with the league cup in the bag and a nice wee head to head with a team from La Liga… it’s all good in my wee world :-)

  15. Valencia have drawn 10 of their 16 games in Spain, winning 3 and losing the other 3, sounds like they will be hard to break down and they’ll be technical no doubt, imperative we win in Glasgow…

    Bring it on:))

  16. My goodness: if Valencia aren’t the draw kings of Europe (so far this season):

    La Liga form = played 16, Won 3, Lost 3, Drawn 10, For 13, Against 13.

    Champions League form = played 6, Won 0, Drawn 2, Lost 4, For 6, Against 6

Its a 38 game league campaign, points won now are equally vital.

    Lets hope you’re right.

January reinforcements may make the difference.

  18. First reaction is we are out. But wait, they aren’t the team of old reaching CL finals etc. This is actually winnable. Two stand alone games, with our core team injury free and a few additions in the transfer window, we could be looking at progressing to the round after this one.

  19. Valencia – que bueno, si!

Just watched EPL highlights and have a wee question about the concept of space on the park.

Space, making it or closing it down, is key to how good teams win games, right. So my question Bhoys…

Do Scottish-based defenders mark way better/tighter than EPL defenders (creating less space) OR

Are English-based attackers way more mobile and dynamic (space-makers) than their Celtic/SPL counterparts?

Every goal in the EPL was about guys finding/making/sneaking a wee half yard to grab a goal.

Christie is a case in point about making space by energy and drive – his team-mates should watch and learn!

  20. Last time I was in that Stadium , I witnessed a fabulous performance by Rab Douglas . Me thinks his best ever in a Celtic shirt . His save from a Torres header was wowee . good . Never my favorite goalkeeper -way too iffy for me- but credit where credits due
