HOOPY BIRTHDAY, KYOGO

CELTIC hitman Kyogo Furuhashi celebrates his 29th birthday today,

The Hoops fans’ favourite is aiming to mark the occasion by taking up where he left off last season in the Scottish Cup.

Kyogo, a bargain £4.6million recruit from J-League outfit Vissel Kobe in July 2021, was on target in Ange Postecoglou’s last game in the 3-1 victory over Inverness Caley Thistle in the silverware showpiece at Hampden on June 3 last year.

The pacy attacker got the show on the road on that occasion by thumping in the crucial breakthrough goal just before the interval to put an end to the stubborn resistance of Billy Dodds’ team.

THE CUP THAT CHEERS…Kyogo Furuhashi celebrates Celtic’s 3-1 Scottish Cup success at Hampden last season.

Liel Abada and Filipe Jota added the second-half strikes as the champions sealed a world record eighth domestic treble.

Coincidentally, Kyogo will face Highland opposition again tomorrow when non-league Buckie Thistle are the visitors to Parkhead where the holders hope to ease into the draw for the next stage later in the evening.

Kyogo’s fabulous winner in the derby duel in the east end of Glasgow just before the turn of the year was his tenth of the campaign.

The prolific marksman is aiming for a belated birthday gift with his first goal of 2024 against the minnows.

Good luck, Kyogo, from CQN readers and Celtic fans everywhere!
