Hugely important League Cup tie

873

We have had games which were hugely important to the club, and to our new manager, some which were ‘must win’ games, which were ultimately lost, but tomorrow’s League Cup tie against Hearts is a must win game for different reasons.

A year ago we lost in this competition to one of the worst teams to win at Celtic Park in the last half century, possibly longer, but thus Hearts side are a Premiership team in all but name and come with the weight of their history behind them to fell Scottish football’s last superpower.

I’ve seen Hearts win at Celtic Park before, there is one particular painful memory as they taunted us while drawing, but Ronny and his new recruits should know, this game ranks above all league matches in order of importance.

You can see it building up and in my opinion Big Pierre believes that it is in Celtic’s interests that the New Team are in the top league asap. I expect another re-jigging of the leagues to overcome any protests from fans of all clubs as there is a chance the New Team might not make it into the top division and the SPFL can’t wait until the play offs to see if they can get up to the top Division.

Have a lower than average impact on social care costs cos of their demographic and are really, really bad according to the headline in the Daily Mail. Right next to the story about Somali refugees being disproportionately represented on X factor.

I am very sad to hear of the passing of Johnny Divers today.

He was a genuine hero of mine along with John Colrain, Mike Jackson, Charlie Gallagher, Frank Haffey, Paddy Crerand and some others of that period between Hampden in the Sun and Lisbon.

I am just another Celtic fan who had to endure some dark days in that period but I had some great times watching those guys esp JD because of his immediately distinguishable features of a receding curly hairline and those fantastic bowley-legs! He always seemed to score goals but I cannot recall any particularly memorable one.

    Rest in Peace Johnny

Ordinary people need more people like yourself to get involved in the L P and take it back to where it should be

Going over to the Nats might sound good right now and the LP does deserve a kicking as Cameron might say but the reality would be that ordinary poor working class people would be trapped in a wee parochial state

How many on here really believe the “One Scotland -many cultures” line peddled by the Nats?

Thanks for you reply. I am surprised that you now say that you have no objections to immigrants who you deem to be qualified. Even more surprised that you maintain that the colour of an immigrant`s skin is of no importance to you.

You got me on “we’re all in this together” – that was pure Gideon bare faced lying!

“Better together” – I still think is true

I was brought up to believe that I had more in common with ordinary working people in Liverpool, Manchester,Birmingham and London that I did with a laird from Fife or Aberdeenshire

I still think that applies even today – though London is a problem but not just for Scotland

I was also brought up in the days when SNP – meant Soon No Pope

That might be politically incorrect today but the treatment of NL showed that some attitudes permeate Scottish society even now

Phil, this place is so much better with your terrific sense of humour & sharpnees.

I read your post earlier regarding food banks and people not receiving their benefit soon enough.

The three main benefits are Employment & Support Allowance, Income Support and Jobseekers Allowance.

Income Support is purely income related, Employment & Support Allowance along with Jobseekers Allowance are split into national insurance contributions based entitlement and income related entitlement.

A lot of the delays are not solely down to incompetence, if all the information required to make a decision on a person’s entitlement, is not available, the staff have to wait until it is provided. Sometimes it is the person claiming causing the delay, delays can also be caused by a former employer not providing final wage details, where an income related benefit is claimed..

It’s over simplified just saying the delays in paying a benefit are solely down to staff.

Staff were paid off who were of great assistance in doing the preparatory work for those who decided on a person’s claim, which in some instances, has contributed to delays people have encountered.

I’m still laughing at your comment to Dawkins yesterday. My sides are sore.
