Hugely important League Cup tie

873

We have had games which were hugely important to the club, and to our new manager, some which were ‘must win’ games, which were ultimately lost, but tomorrow’s League Cup tie against Hearts is a must win game for different reasons.

A year ago we lost in this competition to one of the worst teams to win at Celtic Park in the last half century, possibly longer, but thus Hearts side are a Premiership team in all but name and come with the weight of their history behind them to fell Scottish football’s last superpower.

I’ve seen Hearts win at Celtic Park before, there is one particular painful memory as they taunted us while drawing, but Ronny and his new recruits should know, this game ranks above all league matches in order of importance.

Old palomine. Your right about Mohammed but I’m disappointed you get news or even read the Daily Mail. I t is the most riciculous paper published and has such an agenda. Poor excuse for a news paper.

    Nice chattin’ pally

  2. RIP Johnny Divers.

One of my favourites from way back then with great character and ball control. I’ve always wondered why he didn’t step up to the next level but Big Yogi in has book talks of JD’S health problems which JD had kept hidden through his playing career.

A True Celt, condolences to his family.

Big Yogi’s book is a great read where in my opinion he really opens his heart to the reader.

Is it just me or is anyone else sick of these flashing advertising boards around the pitch? Sore heid watching this Liverpool game.

    Bring back the wooden ones

That’s a crying shame that neither of you would wish me to educate your children.

Despite many plaudits, including two ‘excellents’ from HMIE, your endorsements rank among my greatest achievements in education.

Oh how I wish I could have a term or two with the mini Rubber Nuts :-)

…..at least they’d know how to spell Cuisenaire….. Eh TSD?!

  6. Re the Living Wage and effect on the bottom line.

Celtic could easily make a statement that they will move gradually to pay a living wage based on profit figures. If we continue to run at a profit then we will increase the basic wage in 3 or 4 years.

If however, profits fall we will hold the increase until we return to profit.

To make this more likely and achievable there will be an increase in ST prices, Celtic TV subscriptions and store items.

That would have the effect of making us aware of their plans, showing the rest of football that it is possible to pay a living wage and allow us all to argue bout the timescale.

  7. Tictaewin…

Was at all 3 games you mentioned…..great middle to front Celtic side…..calamitous in defence.

That late autumn we had a really good Davie Hay side on fire and looking good for the title.

Right after those three results , I reckon the cheating Barstewards Rapid Vienna caused the Hoopy heads to go down after that abject replay game at Old Trafford.Adolf Ferguson’s Sheep Molesters capitalised on this.

The Cup Final was a great day oot that season thanks to Provan and Super Frank McGarvey, but always felt a terrible anti climax that season which promised so much but ultimately failed in the League.

That’s the second time in recent months you’ve made reference to my background. Information that could only have been gleaned from one particular post I made in memory of my dad.

I was advised against responding on the first occasion, sound advice which I was grateful of.

    One day sir, one day.

The crass remark was unworthy of me.

Their inhumanity brings out the worst in me.

No apologies needed, certainly not to me. The problem is that far too often they drag others to their vile level.

Your story mirrors my recollections on Johnny Divers , including the bubblegum cards and the auld yins tales.

I also feel a piece of me has been taken away with the sad news of his passing.

I wonder if , in the years to come , the players of today will have the same bond with the support that will last a lifetime? I doubt it though………

condolences to the Divers family. Johnny YNWA.

Thanks guys. Also bought two tickets for the kids at £10 , says £15 on ticket . how can that be passed by audit?

Has Salmond spoken on his disaster yet?

How he couldn’t bring his own area over to the yes side?

How he couldn’t bring over any other SNP area over to the yes side ( apart from Dundee )?

Seems that 10 years in the planning and 2 years campaigning should have delivered more from the SNP heartland

Or was this referendum just a cynical attempt to undermine their main domestic rival?

It seems that the big effort was made in the west

Now we have talk of standing yes alliance people to punish Labour – why?

People need to judge politicians on their record not their rhetoric

Who brought in the OB act after the shame game?

Who has centralised loads of power in Edinburgh – Police Scotland, Fire Scotland?

Who looks after their own constituents? – Infrastructure investment and jobs for the east coast?

Who froze council tax for years – forcing cut backs on front line services?

The SNP are a right of centre political grouping – with a few populist ideas thrown in to con people in to thinking they are something else

Those who claim to be on the left should reflect on the map of Scotland that the vote threw up

The left would be in a permanent minority in an independent Scotland

Only problem being they would now be in a small inward looking society with authoritarian

    Tendencies !

Real progress for ordinary working class people in Britain has only ever been secured by the Labour Party – that is not going to change in the future!

I could have ignored but thought this time it had to be highlighted. Honestly, not a bother. Hopefully, catch up soon but not in the Crystal Bell :-)

    regards to The Boss.

Ribs have fully healed now :-)

What I meant albeit a wee bit clumsily,

Was to phase the increases in over a 3 or 4 year period.

Not wait for three or four years.

Alternatively we could just increase ST prices immediately to cover the increased cost.

  21. Keeping The Faith on

Aye whatever croppybhoy, Orangemen putting up labour banners , finished for me.

Tom Clarke out.. With all due respect to him .
