Hugely important League Cup tie

873

We have had games which were hugely important to the club, and to our new manager, some which were ‘must win’ games, which were ultimately lost, but tomorrow’s League Cup tie against Hearts is a must win game for different reasons.

A year ago we lost in this competition to one of the worst teams to win at Celtic Park in the last half century, possibly longer, but thus Hearts side are a Premiership team in all but name and come with the weight of their history behind them to fell Scottish football’s last superpower.

I’ve seen Hearts win at Celtic Park before, there is one particular painful memory as they taunted us while drawing, but Ronny and his new recruits should know, this game ranks above all league matches in order of importance.

Met Paul McGinley at St Andrews on the last day of the open when Woods won it. My mate has managed to swing some VIP passes and it was my first trip up. I drove and he got smashed.

Met Paul at the club house and gave him one of our CSC badges. He only came over to talk to us because I had my Celtic T-shirt on. Really nice guy and well up to speed on the Hoops.

Gallagher is a huge Tim. I know a few of his cousins. I would imagine they do not want to show any football alliegence to any Scottish side at this Ryder Cup to ensure the whole country is behind the team.

Sadly this is a bad reflection on Scotland!

I dare say you’d have loved the Irish as they fell off the boats in Boston and New York with little more than desperation and fear.

Or those who couldn’t afford as expensive a fare and ended up in Scotland?

What would you have that idealistic Brother Walfrid to have done?

PD: Monty was an arrogant clown of a man who wouldn;t even look at us. Most of the Americans were really sound. All happy to chat. You only get an idea of how big these guys are when you are standing next to them though. Most of them are giants. McGinley however is not a tall man but a giant in my eyes for taking the time to have a blether and pin my CSC badge to his tap. Wouldn;t give me his open pin badge though.

He was in the running that day to win it and got grumpier as the day went on. I wanted him to win on the way up but was terrible to the golf punters. Probably didn;t relax enough to be fair and it showed in his game. I’m no expert on golf though. I just went for the experience.

    Hugely important cup tie?

    I should bleeding well coco.

This manager has got to make it look like he knows what he’s doing and by dint so do his players – for 90 mins, not 50 odd.

Some wins on the bounce – that would be refreshing.

  12. The living wage gies peace they at Celtic before they start there part time jobs and it’s part not full time know damn well what there hourly rate is. So take it or leave it it’s as simple as that as for food banks who benefits from them is it genuine people who by losing there jobs etc or is it your modern day scrounger and there are plenty of them going about these days won’t work no intention either no this is the only country I know that you get money for not working as for this site don’t encourage these shysters why don’t we think about folk who have worked all there days who don’t get much help for a change and I hope that labour are finished in this country

I like your football posts. Don’t always agree with them. But value them. Especially comments on the younger ones.

But I’ll front up and say the nature of your comments on migration trouble me. Too generalised and with a tone that many fair minded folk would associate with racism.

And a forum that’s built around a club that was built around immigrants will naturally take a dim view of anything that has such undertones.

And your talk earlier about people’s’ worth – and implied lack of – left me with a feeling of chattel rather than fellow human beings.

    That’s all.

  17. Scott Brown ( massively important); James Forrest ( extremely important0; Mikael Lustig ( very important); Adam Matthews In the absence of ML, very important), Charlie Mulgrew (for Leadership, important) and Stefan Johansen all injured at various times. Secovic, Guidetti,Tonev,Wakaso and Berget all new. Has Ronny really had the opportunity to blend together his preferred team?

  21. Does anyone know if we are going to have more ball boys tomorrow night?

I managed to catch the 2nd half of the game after work on Sunday and was gobsmacked watching Guidette repeatedly having to run off the pitch to get the ball back to save time.

If that had been a European match and we were a few goals down from the 1st leg, i am sure steps would have been taken to ensure every second counted.

Every second can count as well in domestic matches.

Were we complacent before the game?
