We have had games which were hugely important to the club, and to our new manager, some which were ‘must win’ games, which were ultimately lost, but tomorrow’s League Cup tie against Hearts is a must win game for different reasons.
A year ago we lost in this competition to one of the worst teams to win at Celtic Park in the last half century, possibly longer, but thus Hearts side are a Premiership team in all but name and come with the weight of their history behind them to fell Scottish football’s last superpower.
I’ve seen Hearts win at Celtic Park before, there is one particular painful memory as they taunted us while drawing, but Ronny and his new recruits should know, this game ranks above all league matches in order of importance.

Good morning friends from a dry, bright and very pleasant looking East Kilbride, particularly as yesterday’s non-existent wind has retained its place ;-)

I don’t normally bother with the League Cup but I feel this game tonight is a ‘must win’ for Celtic.
Good morning CQNers,
I really want to be positive about our new manager, so………
It’s natural for a new manager and a team in transition to stumble from time to time whilst searching to build some momentum. It would also be normal for a new manager to chop and change his side in search of player cohesion.
It’s also a given that Celtic supporters will be overtly critical when performances fall below accepted levels and so far the new manager, the team and the supporters have followed the normal patterns.
Tonight I’m looking forward to a game where I hope to see our manager chose his best team and select tactics that allow the team to produce a convincing display and achieve a decisive win.
C’mon Ronny and the team, make me a happy.
Canny stand them Jambos.
Horrible support
Really want to gub them.
Big style
Tontine Tim @ 18:50 last night
In answer to your question, yes he is!
Cheers
Peter
I cant help feeling that very soon Celtic are going to click like a well oiled machine and someone is going to get a hammering it could well be Hearts tonight. H.H.

Hamiltontin. Could any of those 4 strikers hit a coo on the backside wae a banjo ? ;-)
Home game against a lower division team, and we’re talking about playing with ONE striker?
Ffs,I give up.
Hamiltontin=Hamiltontim.
JFH
They’d have a better chance of scoring if there were two of them playing as strikers.
In my opinion of course :-)
Summa
Completely agree.
Hamiltontim. I agree and tonights game would be a good game two play two strikers.H.H.

I am very strongly of the opinion that one striker is the way to play in the modern game. Even then, I don`t think that that `striker` is worthy of his place on striking alone. Kris Boyd is a very good striker….at a certain level. The game has changed.
JJ
Playing two wingers is more-or-less redundant in the modern game, best leave it in 80’s where it belongs.
Kris Commons is an left sided attacking player, not a winger – in saying that – during Lenny’s first season in charge, the football played down the left was scintillating at times.Emilo,Joe Ledley and Kris Commons were like football’s Holy Trinity.
I would love Celtic to win the this season’s League Cup,because it is a trophy that we very rarely win.
Really looking forward to watching tonight’s game.
Good luck Ronny,good luck Celtic.

Totally understand why we’re playing with one up top.
If, we be more expansive or….if ye like, try the TB(RIP)
type of football – we’ll be ripped apart. imho
John Collins – imho – has tried to tell RD how it goes down
in these parts, only for RD to tell him that, he(RD) knows
better.
Well, I think that JC is at this minute, giving RD enough rope.
We have to play with one up top coz, we urny good enough to
take the game to Hertz – that’s where we’re at.
Guidetti and Scepovic will join the same knackers-yard as, Balde,
Pukki, Lassad, Miku, Bangura, Freddy etc coz…we don’t know how to make chances.
At a rough guess….I’d say that, since GH left us we’ve had about 10 strikers.
Know what’s worse….yer lucky if, the ‘ten’ strikers have had, ‘ten’ chances to score between them. imho
Rudderless Ship FC.

A few `thoughts` there without any evidence to support them! Any idea from whence they came? 0:-)

A punt is a rudderless ship…well, boat. Are you suggesting Big RD is just a punt? That he was fine in the shallow, calm waters of the Norwegian league but unsuited to the choppy, shark-infested Scottish league?
Perhaps, perhaps.

Do you think it’s working for us now?
MON is probably the most successful Celtic manager that I can remember. Two up front whether home, away, domestic or Europe.
You are correct the game’s changed but you need support in attacking positions with one up front. Ronny’s not helping the team with his selections, personnel and tactics.

The last three managerial appointments were
last chance saloon appointments. imho
Ronny – tick tock
Neil – Desperate appointment after the BTM shambles
BTM – Finished ’20th’ out of ’20’ EPL managers and was deemed
good enough to be brought into the Celtic trenches in the middle of
the ‘honest-mistake’ era = Steve Naive at best.
If there was at least ‘one’ Celtic fan on the ‘bored’….all of the above could have
been avoided. imho

I think we should be playing 3/5/2 and this is our best team in my opinion when fit..
Gordon
Denayer Virgil Mulgrew
Lustig Brown Bitton Commons Izzy
Guidetti Griffiths
Subs Mathews Scepovic Forrest Johansen
Think it’s worth a shout. Thoughts?

How can we judge Guidetti and Scepovic from the two games we’ve seen. Jeezo man!

KIk-I would agree with your 3-5-2 line up-though dont know if Lustig is fit yet? -also maybe Wakaso instead of izzy HH -catch you tonight
So, Kev, you think NFL was a failure? Are you aff yer heid??
Kikinthenakas
Your at least 4 wingers short with that selection
Morning all.
Big, big game tonight for obvious reasons.
Agree with KIKINTHENAKAS that the 3-5-2 formation is worth a try.
Unlikely to happen ‘tho.
