Ibrahim chance to reboot potential at Celtic

493

Celtic have completed the signing of 20-year-old Nigerian, Rabiu Ibrahim subject to a medical, after he was released by PSV Eindhoven earlier this month.   Rabiu is known as a creative-central midfielder, a role that Celtic have played possibly as few as a dozen times in the last decade.

After leaving Nigeria full of promise as a 17-year-old the player failed to make the desired impact in Portugal and the Netherlands, but will still be regarded as a development project by the Celtic technical staff.  His short history in Europe, with tales of agents and representation investors already has enough material for a short novel, which will not have aided development.

The job for Celtic is to get Rabiu plugged back into his potential.  It remains to be seen what role he is deployed in when he gets the chance.

Welcome to Celtic, Rabiu.

Not sure of the point here, Rangers were a far higher spending club than Celtic (and all the other SPL clubs) for the past three titles. That doesn’t make them bankrupt (except morally). Celtic refused to be drawn into the arms race that Murray really wanted, three titles? but at what price? The fact is that Rangers no longer exist (subject to the ruling), Celtic are a going concern, ‘…for him for whom the world was not enough, an FTT(T) ruling does now suffice..’

The players we could have signed would have won a league that was pretty straightforward and easy to win.

It’s been a long a stressful day at work but I’m really struggling with that one.

I was told last week that Lenny had watched Diawara in action against Porto before Xmas and decided to end our interest after viewing him again

Imo Hooper will not be going anywhere unless someone offers us £8-10m

Come on now, don’t get sand in your bits. Hooper isn’t for sale, and bangura wasn’t that much the cheaper option. Dispassionate logic suggests that john park and Lenny would make the decision between two strikers at a roughly similar price to peter lawwell.

  12. Quick question, if the orcs go to the wall and the administrator has to sell on their assets, could DD swoop to buy Snake Mountain and turn it into the west of Scotland Museum of Catholisicm and Irish Heritage, he could build a huge grotto in the centre circle and stations of the cross around the touchlines.

I know what Rangers have done in the past, however for the last 2 years we knew where the Rangers benchmark was at – we knew the level we had to beat – it hasnt changed much – and we have failed.

The players we have signed obviously werent of a good enough standard to win the league (or the players were but the tactics were not) – you can only hope we had targetted better players who we werent able to get over the line who would have snd that the level of ambition we set ourselves wasnt 2nd best to the a gash huns team

  17. mhaddog Is Mise Niall Lennon on

Eyes Wide Open, you say Neil wanted to sign Diawarra but wasn’t allowed to. What evidence have you for that? If you don’t have any I will go with what Neil says. There is too much negative sh!te written about what Celtic do and don’t do and who decides who we sign. So far Neil has done a pretty good job, without financial doping, or other kinds of cheating, so he has my backing until someone can give me reasons not to.

  18. All… if you dont have any credit card debt, then skip on by… but for those who do, Barclaycard have a new card available with a MASSIVE 24 months 0% interest!!!! (A 3.2% fee applies)

    Example: £5,000 credit card debt.

Transfer to Barclaycard with fee of £160.

2 years to pay off £5,160!

Min income: £20,000 to apply for the card.

I availed of a similar offer about 6-8 months ago, just when i was about to take out a loan to pay off some debts. So glad i didnt take the expensive loan.

Sorry for the random post but this is a cracking offer and if it helps one or two of you to save a few quid then happy days!!!

The feeling the tax case will not turn out as we may hope pervades my being. Should that happen it will feel like a bereavement with a huge feeling of loss.

I realise they will still have problems enough but not to see them on their knees…

I’m probably just cowardly for thinking this way :-(

  20. Will judge Bangura when he is injury free and gets a run in the team.

The logic displayed on here if applied to the two boys just signed is that they are total duds!!

One couldn’t make it in lower leagues of England the other was bounced from Sporting to PSV to a free.

Think I will trust the tireless work done by John Park, Neil Lennon and the rest of the coaches in identifying young talented players…

    utter madness imo

re Diawarra ..i`d be surprised if a guy who scored as many goals in Portugal wouldn`t be a success here ..perhaps we ended our interest because he became too dear
