Inner Record culture disrobed, signing up to the Celtic rulebook

891

In many places it would be practically inconceivable that someone could be employed in this position:

capture-20170119-220102
And get away with running rubbish like this on a back page cover:

capture-20170119-220127
But then you see more and get a picture of the organisation involved:

capture-20170119-220204
The Record have been caught displaying their inner culture and will no doubt be forced into a remedial action, but getting caught was just misfortune. The culture exists and has informed articles for years.  They have gone too far down this road to even begin to understand what they’ve done to a once-strong demographic.

An echo reached me from 2012 today, which illuminated yesterday’s article. As the SPL debated serious issues in 2012, a consensus emerged on what subsequently took place. There were hold-outs to the new majority, however.

One director of a club near Glasgow (no guesses, now) made his position clear: “I’m not signing up to any f****** Celtic rulebook.”

The comment met with incredulity, as the Celtic rulebook wasn’t part of the conversation. Fans and clubs across the country came to the same conclusion about how our game should proceed.  It was no more the Celtic rulebook than the Aberdeen, Hearts and Hibs rulebook, but prejudices occasionally seep out when people don’t get what they want.

This is what we’re up against. They are still out there, writing articles for the paying public, or voting on the future of our game.

As for the Celtic rulebook, I’ve seen it. It contains one page and only three words: “Pay your bills.” That doesn’t sound like much but remarkably, it may deliver 20-in-a-row. I hope others don’t start to copy us.

  1. Snake Plissken on

A part of me would like tomorrow to be taken care of and then we pull them out of the hat in the next round at Celtic Park.

    End their season.

    Keep them irrelevant.

I know the money will be what they want but sometimes other things are more important.

Really annoyed Motherwell could not do the necessary but every side that plays them can score against them.

They are merely postponing the inevitable.

  2. Caught a bit of the Sevco game. Motherwell threw it away. But make no mistake, Sevco are truly awful.

Miller is their best player by a mile, and he’s 39.

I hope they keep Warbiola: talks a good game but clueless at this level.

  3. Burnley78.

Their crowds don’t have to find the money for 3 CL group games, plus asssorted qualifiers.

I think when you are down every game feels important: I suspect our good standing at the moment would depress a home gate as much as anything.

  4. Over the Christmas period I watched 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi.

I think it is good, it captures the fear as well as the Bravery whilst highlighting the real ones that are JUST as Scared as Anyone, unwilling to make decisions.

On the ground, people are just people.

  5. Interesting comment earlier about tickets for the Portuguese cup final, anyone know how you would get them?

Good triple header, 50th anniversary, treble and wee cup final in Lisbon, bring it on please!

I was under the impression gate money in Cup ties is split 50/50, am I wrong?

    ———————————————————-

You are right, it is 50/50. However 50% of a 40,000 crowd at Snake Mountain is much more than 50% of a 13,000 crowd is significantly more! Probably about £300K more.

Thanks, on checking the rules 5% goes to the SFA and 20% retained by the home team to cover the costs so it is more to the home team than 50/50 wont matter we will be away at Pittodrie or Tynecastle.

When Nigel Benn beat Gerald Mclellan it was so amazing to watch the way he fought back and eventually done what he did to Gerald.

Boxing was finished for me on that day. I stayed up all night to hear Good News about Gerald.

Based upon those figures, at £25 a head it’s £575K to Sevco (including their 20% overhead) as opposed to £122K. Quite a difference! Keeps the lights on for another fortnight.

Anyway, back tae fitba’ the morra!

I expect a strong team. Erik is suspended and apparently the Griff is nursing a wee knock to his calf. I’m not sure he will risk young KT for 90 minutes so I’d expect:

Gordon, Gamboa, Lustig, Simunovic and Izzagure; Brown and Armstrong; Forrest, Rogic and Sinclair; Dembele.

    Almore,

I find the LLS cringe worthy about 95% of the time.

However it occasionally unearths a little gem.

Last night was one such occasion and ill become an archive piece.

For once, they got the sound balance right. That doesn’t happen too often for musical acts.

Talking about musical acts and cringe worthy.

Last weeks programme ran out of time, therefore a girl who had been lined up to close the show was omitted. in spite of having her parents, etc. in the studio.

It ran out of time because they wasted about twenty minutes on two women having their faces stuffed with botox and fillers, which merely provided a chunk of free advertising for the cosmetic practitioner performing the procedures.

In fairness, they had the girl on last night and she was brilliant.

The extra publicity wouldn’t have harmed her, though.

  26. GlassTwoThirdsFull on

Just to let everyone know that Wayne Rooney has broken the Man Utd goalscoring record.

You will not hear ANYTHING at all about this over the next couple of days, so I thought I’d better mention it.

  27. Afternoon all.

A propos of nothing except a pointless addition to a topic of days ago but just seen a tweet of Big Georgios’ greatest goals as a Celt. Now when he could be bothered and got himself warmed up he could really shift

    Jimbo67

  28. Very disappointed in the Sevco result, but not surprised Motherwell caved in, their one tactic manager and system is set up to lose goals against even the most mediocre, of opposition. If you don’t have the players to play expansive attacking football, you have to have good defenders and Motherwell don’t.

The clue for Sevco is the scoreline , and the fact that their star player is Kenny Miller.

Just think about that for a minute CSC
