  1. Good on you KC, I promise never to question your weight again. 3 points is 3 points but hmmmmmmmmmm.

Roped into going to the panto tonight, bottom line , much happier winning than not winning.

    Ohhhh yes I am.

Lenny is happy because we have achieved something unusual – unbeaten all season – not because he thinks we’re playing like Barca. Some on here want to get some perspective.

Happy Christmas ya bunch of greetin’ faced weans! :-)))

    Tin hat on here…..

    Would you rather;

    a) Celtic dropped 3 points in one of the upcoming matches in January but subsequently abandoned a nonsensical pursuit of going the season unbeaten and used the rest of the season to plan ahead, generate some interest, blood some younger/fringe players into the team?

    b) Watched this turgid procession to the Championship from now until May?

Seriously, these types of performances would get football stopped.

    —————————– ——————–

I said from the very start, once the huns had hit the liquidiser, that we should use the four years to build a team from our youngsters.

We have wasted a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to do just that.

And for those who will reply that I wisnae too happy with the level of signings we made, naw, for me,sign quality or sign no-one.

Let the fans know the deal, and we will support that. To say we are spending money is correct, but we are spending it on dross when all we should be doing is developing our own.

  6. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

Good win – grateful for it.

    Pretty unsatisfying stuff though.

Our manager’s reaction at the end is slightly worrying.

We don’t aim high enough – and subsequently don’t reach the heights.

  7. corkcelt- SUPPORTING THE DAM 5 on

Delighted with the 3 points but game itself was disappointing. We shouldn’t underrate ICT or expect to steamroll every team and all credit to our defence. However its not the type of football to get the crowds flocking back.. Aberdeen back on the 23rd November were last domestic team to score against us and that is something to celebrate. We can play better, thank God we have a midweek game to look forward to.

That and another 3 points are the reason why he is rightly smiling.

I seem to remember MON team getting knocked out the cup at Inverness and also Neil’s team loosing a league there.

Any win there IMO is a good win !

  17. Many on here and elsewhere give Fat Sally plenty of stick for struggling against the plumbers and part timers in division whatever!

However we have a budget many times that of our opponents -so do we give Lenny the same stick!

His team selections and tactics have been baffling at times

We hit on a system that did well at Hearts and Motherwell -then abandon it to no great effect

Why? -to accommodate the managers favourites?

If it’s true that he is protecting an unbeaten record and that he values that more because it will good on his CV -then his boss should have a word

Our home form has not been brilliant -there is little to attract people back to the ground

Grinding out a meaningless record of staying unbeaten -while persisting with guys just going through the motions -will empty the ground this season and more importantly beyond!

  21. The revisionism on this site after the final whilstle is astounding! If you care to track back and read the comments during the game, the CONSENSUS was that the performance was crap, Samaras, Forrest and Stokes were crap, the lack of substitutions was crap. This was in full awareness of the scoreline and likely extension of the unbeaten run.

The match statistics will demonstrate ICTs numerous attempts at goal and the fact that we were hanging on.

Suddenly, at the final whilstle, its all “well done Lenny and the Bhoys”, “the 3 points are the important thing”, “unbeaten going into 2014”, “mineshafters”, “unacceptable comments”… Where were you during the game?

notthebus, I think you are being unfair to dexter. He is not my favourite poster but he is a Tim and is entitled to express his view without being told to go and support some other team. I have to admit I didn’t enjoy that game, I enjoyed the 3 points and extending the run but that’s it.

I know we are better than today jimbo, but samaras, forest and stokes have been unacceptable with the displays expected of celtic players, especially the lack of effort recently ..I clearly heard lennie call for forest to move on more than 1 occasion today, him and sammi throwing arms up in the air instead of trying to get the ball back off a player who has just taken it from him is as I said totally unacceptable.

To address your flippancy, you know that I am not an expert and nor could I apply to be manager. NL is an expert- he has the medals to show it. Hence my frustration at the seeming blindness to basic footballing realities. Am I missing something? Tactics were clearly wrong… selections repeatedly wrong combined with aversion to substitutions… clear lack of desire by the players…

If you think we cannot mirror Swansea city, your expectations are somewhat lower than mine.

  34. I am happy with the 3 points, whenever we do not play as well as I’d like I just think about the Sevco franchise, fairly puts a smile on my face.

  35. Och I know the mineshafters are hurting but fear not.

This unbeaten run cannot continue. You will have a Celtic defeat early on in 2014 to make you happy and this blog can get a record number of posts again.

    I love getting 3 points

    At a difficult away fixture

    On a rutted pitch

    Against agricultural opponents

At a place where we lost a league just two short years ago

At a place where MON’s team lost twice.

Well done Celtic on an unbeaten 17 match run in the SP, on 6 consecutive SP clean sheets, and in another dissapointing weekend for anhedonists everywhere in our support.

See you on the bus for the Thistle game TBJ. I’ll buy you a pint after the match.

” a helluva lot of those middling games I saw between 67//8 and 82/3 were far better than the stuff I’ve seen pre- Milan at CP and post Barca this season were of a basically higher standard”

I would agree that, if you choose our golden period as 66 to 74, you are quite right.

Your inclusion of 75 to 82 puzzles me. We exited Europe at the following stages

    75 EC 1st round

    76 CWC 3rd round (Zwickau)

    77 UEFA 1st round

    78 EC 2nd round

    79- not in Europe

80- EC Q-F (our last great year till MON)

    81- CWC 1st round

    82- EC 1st round

Our league finishes in those years were :-

    3rd, 2nd, 1st, 5th, 1st, 2nd, 1st, 1st

So, I fear there is still a rose tinted hue to our reconstructed memories. I remember being very disgruntled about our performances back then. We lost leagues to an agricultural Jock Wallace managed team.
