  1. GreeninbingleyinOslo on

Tough day. We seem to play ourselves into trouble constantly – the tiki-taka stuff in dangerous areas where we lose possession 50% of the time is heart-in-the-mouth territory.

Well done to McGregor, Scott Allan when he came on, Griff who worked hard and scored a peach. Simunovic really looks the part and Boyata looks much better beside him. Gordon looks much more secure with those 2 in front of him.

Tierney is IMO an absolute diamond. Captain in a couple of years.

We DESPERATELY need an anchor in midfield. I would play Efe in there, right now.

But all in all, well done the Bhoys and Ronny. Rough tough place to go, you’re going to get kicked up and down the pitch with no protection from the ref and to come through 3-1 three days after Thursday night’s boot in the baws is a good day’s work.

Stokesy – understand the frustration, but if you start using Twitter you’ve already lost your argument.

Carlton Cole – possibly the funniest debut I have seen in 50 years of watching Celtic. The look on his face when the ball trickled over the line – hilarious. “See that? That wisny me.”

Got a good feeling about big CC.

Seven points clear. That’s all I want to say about that.

  2. If Carlton Cole is the answer, then I’m not quite sure what the question was…..

He looks as if his best days are years behind him and now has the subtlety and touch of a sledgehammer cracking a tiny diddy SPFL nut.

Why did Delia the Dud sign him and Cifci, and also keep hold of Stokes in the window?

Rank bad management in my honest opinion.

Combine three salaries and the fee for Cifci and we could have afforded a half decent striker?

Is Delia complicit in Lawwell’s plan to be competitive with Sevco?

This race to the bottom malarkey is truly bizarre.

Carlton Cole would make our previous acquisition of Dion Dublin seem like a marquee signing.

You couldn’t make it up what’s happened at Celtic these last few seasons .

  3. Gerryfaethebrig on

Willie Collum blew for half time at 44.57, pedantic, but surely there was at least one stoppage in the first half, then 2mins injury time, am sure most subs were used, Collum is inadequate, if ICT had the ball in our half the whistle would not have been blown, in my opinion as well as being inadequate Collum is a cheat, the only ref in the world to give a penalty with the eyes in the back of his head

  4. The thing that most impresses me about young Tierney is his defensive ability.

His angles are excellent for one so young and that requires football intelligence which he seems to have in abundance.

His movement going forward is good and so are his choices.

The movement between him and Allan for Griffs goal was brilliant.

Once he puts on a bit more muscle he will be formidable.

  5. Will take any win in Inverness, thought we were better 2nd half and scott allen made a difference. Tierney motm for me. A thought on Bitton he’s too static and causes our defence problems with his habit of playing it back when man is under pressure.

    But a good 3 points.

  6. Very pleasantly surprised at the way McGregor has stepped up to the plate in last two games. Thought he had a very good second half today. To be honest I had more or less given up on him and thought he was yet another youth player who would end up earning his corn at Hibs or Dundee. Hope he kicks on from here and establishes himself as a regular first team player.

I like what I’ve seen so far from Allan and he is a player I’d like to see with a regular starting slot.

  7. Gerryfaethebrig on

    Rudi

    Maybe the question was…….

Who could we sign as an extra option outside of the transfer window ?

    The answer….. Carlton Cole

It’s not that hard to find a question for your answer

  8. glendalystonsils on

The tackle on Brown was a straight red in any league.

Not quite…………..I can think of one exception, When such a tackle is made on the most hated player in the most hated team in this particular league, it’s a ‘fair’ tackle.

On today’s game, I felt there were a few real positives. Allan’s performance, MacGregor’s too (hope he can make the most of this chance to be the player I thought we were getting back from Notts Co.) Cole (when he gets fit) and Ronny for changing what wasn’t working in that first half.

  9. the glorious balance sheet on

In the days before social media, Stokes would have got on the phone to his ma/ da/ mates, had a rant about being in the travelling party to Inverness, got it off his chest and got on with it.

No one in the general public would have been any the wiser.

Now thanks to twitter we know how raging he was. He can’t take the tweet back.

He should think twice before taking to twitter in the future. If he wants a game he must know that this outburst makes it harder for Ronny to pick him.

And if he wants a move he must know that such outbursts won’t impress any would be suitors.

Next time – count to three, phone a mate to have a rant, but dont take to twitter.

  10. Gerryfaethebrig on

    Corkcelt

My feelings about MacGregor are much like your own, although in his defence the bhoy runs at players therefore putting them on the back foot, I think Biton is a smashing footballer but both MacGregor and Scott Allan in my opinion are far better than moving us towards the oppositions goal, in other words big Nir and others are too content not risking the decisive pass or running at our opposition

  11. sorry folks, any supposed Tim who cals our manager by only his second name is no better than the MSSM scribes and Tanner fuds we try to avoid on a daily basis.

Wee fud Tanner (is that really his name?) started a conversation with Barry Robson with ” so has any improvement been seen in Celtic over the past 18 months?” Well we certainly didn’t have as good an score in the games following European matches. We could be quite confident now going too anyof the Scottish grounds, even 2 days after a European match and will Gollum as MIB.

  12. Gene

Have to agree about Bitton as he often slows us down and makes some poor passes to guys who are covered.

I think that area is a lot do with our lack of momentum.

Thought Johansen was the better of the two today but neither seem to offer much positive flow to our play.

Our engine room is stalled far to often.

  13. Gerry

the very point on Nir, how many times does he receive the ball with back to their goal and instead of turning and moving forwards he passes it back and puts the defence under pressure.

  14. Gerryfaethebrig on

    Gene

I like Biton and think he is a great footballer, but if he doesn’t have a sight of goal and can have a shot he is too interested in sideways and backwards, keeping the ball is great but preferably when the game is won, would love the big man to just move the ball forward more, Scott Allan “plays with his head up” I know it’s a cliche, but it suits my point

  15. Looki g at you tube I came across a homepage I take it is associated with the Vanguard bears, called simply Vanguard. Jeez are they obsessed with us, and what a warped interpretation of reality they have. Some really sick people out there.

    ————

It’s how most footballers are brought up/coached, if you watch Man U play these days they keep the ball for 70% of the game yet create very little. Means you dont lose a goal, of course it also means unless you have something special up top you’ll usually draw the game.

Biton will do well in the EPL

  17. Stokes makes an erase of himself by tweeting garbage and it’s our managers fault, get real.

  19. Lennon’s Passion, What are you on about?, Ronny is not playing Stokes presumably because of his lack of discipline which he showed again today. What else do you expect him to do or say?.

  20. Lennons Passion

What did the manager say or do that was weak?

Should he have removed Stokes phone and cancelled his twitter account?

Should he have mind read him?

As far as I am concerned it is a dog bites man story. Antony Stokes said he would rather be playing and he did not want to pick up a wage for nothing- perfectly admirable sentiments. The only naughty thing he said was about resenting being in the stand rather than regretting he was not part of the squad.

It’s a fairly small misdemeanour and easily dealt with by the manager. A genuinely weak manager would crack down hard and publicise his actions, so that he would look like a tough manager. A genuinely confident tough manager has no need to “appear” strong and deals with it behind closed doors and does not tell the press the details.

  21. Would love to have seen DB make a better effort to get back in behind CG at their goal instead of just IMO accepting a goal was coming and giving up and just lumbering back .

Such negativity after today’s decent victory… what a really sad lot some of you are…and don’t bother coming back with the old ‘everyone’s entitled to an opinion’ crap. Total Celtic fraudsters.

Don’t give Peter and the board ideas, although if we get offered silly money, Nir Biton could well be the next Southampton signing and give us the money for John Souttar, just being a bit facetious

Stokes hasn’t played for Celtic in months, and most likely won’t ever play again for us. Only a weak manager can not play such a player ;o)

  28. Kevin McKenna’s article about Celtic and the living wage in today’s Observer is bang on the money. The board’s policy looks increasingly indefensible.

  29. glendalystonsils on

Whatever money we get for Biton, it will be nothing like what we got for Big Vic or Virgil.

  30. West End of East End on

I thought Ronny handled questions on Stokes well, basically told him to look at McGregor working hard to get back into the team. Wouldn’t have expected anything less, no idea how you could define that as weak but if you don’t like the manager anything is fair game to have a shot at him. Pathetic really…

Like a few others I’d like to see Scott Allan start, think we have a star in the making….

Why would the Observer feel a story about a Company not subscribing to the Living Wage philosophy be worthy of a story in a ` quality` Sunday `paper? Is the fact that it offers an opportunity to show Celtic in a negative light at least a possibility?

McGregor comes across as someone that works like hell in training just to get onto the bench then when he plays (and scores) works just as hard in training to end up back on the bench.

Yet Celtic fans don’t like him, it’s a funny old game

  34. Lennons passion. Chances are we’d have lost that games today under either of those managers, going by their results away following a European game. Obviously then only weak managers can win such important league games?
