Issue 7 of CQN Magazine out now!

Issue 7 of CQN Magazine is out now! We continue our campaigning focus on the crisis in Scottish football from recent weeks as well as delivering many great articles on Celtic.

You can get a glimpse of the magazine below but go to the dedicated magazine site here to read it properly (which you’ll not be able to do below). Nip to page 64 for my favourite article this month, comparing the age of the current Celtic team to some of our great teams from the past. It’s an eye opener.

A special word of thanks to Alex Thomson of Channel 4 News, who this morning got Uefa to confirm: “We are in contact with the Scottish FA and offering assistance”.

We have tons to talk about in the next couple of days, Brian Kennedy, Sailen Manna – don’t let me forget to talk about Sailen, Athletic (one of the most important cup ties in years?), Kenny Shiels (don’t underestimate this guy) and we have a Cup Final to look forward to! Struggling to fit it in but we’ll try.

We are now shipping hard copies of the magazine from the UK – and sold out last month (unlike Rangers tickets last week).  Order your copy by clicking on the link below.  If you want a copy shipped overseas (note, seas, not sees) email me, celticquicknews@gmail.com (for Britain and Ireland please use the link below).

You can support the online edition by making a discretionary donation here.  Thanks to James, Bart, Bobby and David, all of whom are probably still asleep, and everyone who contributed.

Asked this the other day I will try again. Is the Scottish cup final on the 19th(Sat) or the 20th(Sun) of May.I heard somewhere it was changed to the Sunday because of the CL final being on the Saturday.Anybody help.

    Yes your info is correct.

  2. Methinks Alex Thomson,in his confusion, has perhaps conflated Celtic with Hearts in his mind, due to the fevered activity of Der Hun to drag us into their morass.

Seems to me Ranjurz will start operating a scorched earth policy…if they go,we all go. Pity they can barely afford a box of matches,eh?

Scottish Cup Saturday 19th 2012. But moved to a Sunday thereafter to avoid clash (???) with CL. But I don’t get how they know it’ll be played on the same day in future.

I imagine Alex Thomson is trying to keep the Hun fans sweet so they ‘contribute’ to his blog.

Only if she forgets to send you a post card.

  6. I see UEFA have confirmed that no compliance officer is being sent here, contrary to what the article would have us believe.

  7. Celtic_First at 11:23, Re: alleged breaches of SFA rules by Foe Malign FC (IA):

Gordon_J will doubtless reply for himself but, for what it’s worth, the SFA’s ‘notice of complaint’ (http://www.scottishfa.co.uk/scottish_fa_news.cfm?page=1338&newsCategoryID=1&newsID=9495) merely cites the rules it is alleged have been broken.

Since the notice doesn’t give any detail on the actual infractions themselves, it is impossible to say what punishments may be handed down.

In broad terms, however, the notices refers to the following list of possible punishments: “Rule 14 (g): Full membership or associate membership may be suspended or terminated, or a fine may be issued, in any of the following circumstances …”

  9. Interesting to note that the Alex Thomson tweet which has caused some consternation was in response to a twitter account in the name of @mccanna7.

This guy has previous for tweeting journalists (Gabriele Marcotti being a recent example) & spreading made up malicious gossip about Celtic bloggers. It wouldn’t surprise me if he’s tried to do the same with Thomson.

Thanks for the info I,ll go with the majority and take it its the Saturday.

Will be boarding the Indepedant of the Sea for a two weeks Med cruise that day.

Bad timing fecking bad timing still they might show it on the ship I take it it will be a 3 pm KO

  11. Alex Thomson… I’d imagine his time is important to him, why doesn’t somebody point him to sweepsweep and save him opening all his e-mails. He’ll get all the hun myths there. One of my personal favourites is how we refueled the German ‘U’ boats. The Irsih said we didn’t, the Brits said we didn’t because we couldn’t, and the Germans said we didn’t because Celtic Football Club had no Hydrocarbon resources.

But still the myth lives on.

If you actually follow that particular myth you will find much more sinister shenanigans going on in Whitehall. It’s all in the past now so who’s to care?

The huns do but they don’t care about the truth, the truth would bury them hot in hell.

  12. Anything before 1994 will not be down to the present Celtic board. It’s useless to speculate. In Black Propaganda the best secret is that there is no secret–at all. You don’t even have to publish a rumour. Just drop a vague reference in earshot of someone. Then the Chinese Whispering starts. Media House would love that.

It would be best if he’s not expected, otherwise Chick Young might repel him at the airport like he did with a group of foreign refs during their strike last year.

Was on that ship a couple of years ago-we sailed the day we beat aberdeen 3-1 at Pittodrie on Mowbray’s first league game in charge.Unfortunately they didn’t show this game but they did show EPL games live throughout the cruise. It wasn’t Sky coverage however, maybe ESPN but can’t remember.Still you may be lucky as it is the Cup Final and I think the FA Cup is on a different weekend.

Enjoy the cruise-contact me nearer the time if you need any info.

rangers & Whyte face 5 charges from the SFA, one of which is that they have suffered and insolvency event. This can be punished by a fine, supension or termination from the association.

  18. This morning’s lead sports story on their website was Stevie O’Reilly resigning as a ref.

Now, just like the Celtic open letter, it seems to have disappeared.

Anyone got any idea why this should be so?

You echoed my own thoughts concerning Duffer & Duffers “defence” at the hearing. To separate individual responsibility from the clubs accountability seems me a feeble, pathetic almost inane defence plea…thought up by 8 year old children.

Its like that old conservative chestnut in political philosophy: if the system is corrupt and at fault just blame the individual for the errors- classical cop out from a class of people who view morality as a disposable inconvenience.
