It’s all about Tannadice, your AIM nomad

808

The stage is set. Dundee United, the club who were last to beat Celtic, stand in the way of their treble ambitions, as the clubs meet on three consecutive occasions next month.  The first game, a Scottish Cup quarter final at Tannadice, is the most crucial.

United lost their best two players last week but they remain they will know that beating Celtic at home will make them favourites for the Scottish Cup.  They will be far less confident at the following week’s League Cup final, Dundee United expectations are always low at Hampden, but pressure will be on the club to win their home game.

A note on the suitability or otherwise of a director of a public company.  In the UK, only the courts can ban you from being a company director, HMRC cannot ban you, any more than they can ban you from driving.  In the UK, public companies are held to a higher standard than private companies.  If anyone presents to you claiming, “HMRC have never banned me from driving/being a company director”, you know your being misled.  The same is true for most jurisdictions.

The AIM market requires companies to have nominated adviser (nomad), which carries out regulator duties on behalf of the market, and ultimately shareholders.  The fact that UK, or other, courts have not prohibited you from being a company director implies nothing about your suitability as a director of a public company.  When it comes to the AIM market, this suitability is judged by your effective regulator, your nomad.  A recent history of financial criminal activity, for example, will give your nomad plenty to consider, as would a recent history of being a director in a liquidated public company.  Far more would decline such a candidate than approve.

  2. Hankray… Nonsense. The EPL has become Ireland s national sport. They absolutely lap it up…. Like a bunch of sheep.

Yes… You are right in that big numbers follow GAA too, but in the case of the under 40s they overwhelmingly are slaves to the EPL. Were you at the Liverpool v Celtic game in the Aviva?? Celtic were like an afterthought. Rugby (a sport I follow very closely) is still heavily middle/upper middle class on both sides of the border. And yes…. Celtic are still followed by thousands of loyal fans…. In northern Ireland. In the republic however…. We are increasingly a sort of joke second team for people who drool over arsenal, spurs, man utd etc. Anything else is wishful thinking.

well, it’s better out than in… I’ve no problem with her honestly stating her views, I wish other politicians would. Plus, it enables me to form a better opinion of her, and maybe focus on what she’s done and what she’s gonnie do.

Irish rugby is a great example of promotion, rebranding and modernising making a difference. Only thing is (I think…not much of a rugger man really) some/ much of the development has depended on external competion from Scots, Welsh and European rather than domestic league play.

  16. Surely Celtic TV should be broadcasting games on pay per view/ subscription basis worldwide. That must be worth miles more than what they currently get?

Winning Captains, is it true that without the consent of SPFL and SFA, Sky couldn’t broadcast games in this country?

Does a nationalist agenda then by your comments support on autocracy rather than a democracy then? I just do not see that?

At the end of the day, it is of course each persons choice, I suppose who they support.

  19. From DKs statement:

And he revealed that police had been delighted with the way that nearly 1,000 protesters had behaved in the second major protest in under a month.

He said: “Rangers fans can certainly be angry and they can be frustrated, but they know how to conduct themselves.

“What we saw yesterday was a lot of people who were upset at the running of our club. The police in attendance told us there were just under 1,000 people there.

“We were commended by the police for the way that we conducted ourselves for the duration of the demonstration before the match.

    ____________________________________________________________________

Now if these fans are so well behaved, why are the Sevco board having to :

    1. Find a safe location to hold the EGM?

    2. Stay away from home matches?

This same police force which commends the Sevconians on their behaviour advises the board not to attend home matches?! How does that work?

Of course, I forgot, the measurement of how they behave is comparative.

Compared to how they have behaved in the past, (eg Barcelona, Manchester and just about any place where they have visited) indeed, their behaviour was exemplary.

But remember, that is a comparative measure.

  22. Justafan………you’re spot on when you talk about marketing, rebranding etc regarding the rugby. The advent of the Rabodirect League of the Welsh, Irish and Scottish has been great for the game. Leinster sellout 25,000 season tickets currently and Munster and Ulster are not far behind, you see it’s something of a novelty to have fully professional franchises in this country unlike Scotland..

  25. That 19year old Liverpool winger Jordon Ibe looks a player.

Fast, direct, strong, prepared to take the full-back on, and played a lovely subtle pass to Lalanna for him to square the ball across goal for Balotelli’s winner tonight.

Late 70’s, one of those Eurocamp jobs in the south of France.

So we wander about the port, gawpin at these beautiful yachts, and Ma and Pa fall out – seriously – about what name they should give their boat; they didn’t speak to each other for two days. Him a miner and her workin nightshift in a factory – the only thing we owned was the wee car we came down in.

I’d bin sky sports and BT to have a subscription to all Celtic games live in UK

    ————–

Exactly, move all home games to 1-2 o’clock Saturday kick off, beam live to Scotland and the rest of the world, charge subscription throw a few bob to the other SPL teams. Get their agreement and you have all away games Saturday same time.

    Easy, really.
