It’s all about Tannadice, your AIM nomad

808

The stage is set. Dundee United, the club who were last to beat Celtic, stand in the way of their treble ambitions, as the clubs meet on three consecutive occasions next month.  The first game, a Scottish Cup quarter final at Tannadice, is the most crucial.

United lost their best two players last week but they remain they will know that beating Celtic at home will make them favourites for the Scottish Cup.  They will be far less confident at the following week’s League Cup final, Dundee United expectations are always low at Hampden, but pressure will be on the club to win their home game.

A note on the suitability or otherwise of a director of a public company.  In the UK, only the courts can ban you from being a company director, HMRC cannot ban you, any more than they can ban you from driving.  In the UK, public companies are held to a higher standard than private companies.  If anyone presents to you claiming, “HMRC have never banned me from driving/being a company director”, you know your being misled.  The same is true for most jurisdictions.

The AIM market requires companies to have nominated adviser (nomad), which carries out regulator duties on behalf of the market, and ultimately shareholders.  The fact that UK, or other, courts have not prohibited you from being a company director implies nothing about your suitability as a director of a public company.  When it comes to the AIM market, this suitability is judged by your effective regulator, your nomad.  A recent history of financial criminal activity, for example, will give your nomad plenty to consider, as would a recent history of being a director in a liquidated public company.  Far more would decline such a candidate than approve.

    I understand that,but it doesn’t alter the fact that our game is valued by them at 1% of the value they put on the EPL.

    The supremacist stance of supporters of the deid club is more akin to the attitude of the White Trash folk in America. ie they don`t really believe it.

  4. Its time somebody.or someone .asked questions regarding Sky TV.regarding pay per view.I reckon at the end of the day if you want to watch all sports .then you will have to pay.and to me that’s not right.for all the money that the ordinary fan puts into watching there sport.sky comes and takes a slice of the cake.Rory McIlroy and Lee Westwood to there credit said it wasn’t right that the fans who couldn’t afford to watch the Open .Westwood said it is a disgrace.that sky have the TV rights to broadcast the open.time for some of these well paid footballer’s and tennis players stood up for the ordinary fan to.as for the BBC they just seem to let sky takeover with nobody challengeng them .how many people pay for there TV licence in this country.surely the BBC can compete with sky.

  5. BOBBY MURDOCH’S CURLED-UP WINKLEPICKERS,

    Our game has a very low commercial value. Sad but true. I don’t see any other broadcasters willing to pay bigger sums than Sky.

    I’m sure there are a few here who work in advertising. Wonder what it costs to get your company’s name on Sky’s EPL coverage compared to their Sottish football? To place a half time ad in games? I’ve no idea of the answer but I’d bet there is a very large difference.

  6. The obscene EPL deal just means more exorbitant transfer fees for mediocre players as the clubs scramble to buy what little English talent there is. Financial Fair Play rules are likely to be passed by using whatever underhand means possible and foreign stars will always be attracted by the massive pay days on offer.

    Every time the Sky contracts come up for renewal we specualte that the bubble will burst and every time the price is driven even higher.

    No one at Sky gives a flying fig about Scottish football nor is there any real reason why they should. Most dishes are probably bought by people who prefer to watch EPL than SPFL football anyway. When I was back in Troon a couple of years ago, there were morenpeople in the pub to watch Man Utd vs Chelsea than a Celtic game.

  7. In the last season of the 8 season (5+3) deal (2019/20), SKY will pay Scottish football the £12.5M for the season.

    That’s the equivalent of 112 mins and 30s of EPL football. Sky also have the right to break the deal and not take up the 3 year option, not Scottish football. However when they come to the table what sort of product are we selling? The poor governance of our game has put us this position when we don’t even ask Oliver Twistesque for ‘some more’ it’s more like please give us something.

    Anyone know the figures for the Rugby super league deal?

    For other reasons I hope those 2 clubs get promoted but I would like to think that at least one of them wont just be there to challemge for a top 4 place. Edinburgh has undersupported its clubs for decaded – even the fine Hibs side of 71 to 75 or the Hearts team of just over a decade later averaged over 20000 for home games. But in the early 60s they had bigger crowds than we often got.

    Its the out of cobtrol juggernaut next door that worries me

    Only thing is i believe inter liverpool spurs players have all been doing this high level training for years.

    Like most iv noticed a big improvement in our fitness but its going to take alot longer than 6/7 months of eating the right things and top fitness training to match the top teams.

    Hopefully in the summer we can bring in another couple of ready made fit quality players and with another strong pre season under our belts we should notice even more of an improvement this time next season.

    You have what they can only dream of,

    “When things go wrong as they sometimes will;

    When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill;

    When the funds are low, and the debts are high

    And you want to smile, but have to sigh;

    When care is pressing you down a bit-

    A Celtic spokesperson said: “The club would like to thank our fans for their magnificent support. European nights in Paradise are something special and we’ve shown before that with 60,000 fans behind us we can achieve great things.

    Celtic will possibly make as much or more out of this one match as they will for winning the SPFL Premiership – food for thought

    I take it then that crime in Italy must be under control for such action?

    A bit like in this country (Scot) where all sorts of scarce police resources are allocated to prosecute wee boys singing ROH ect, and Social Security fraud while banksters and tax frauds like Rangers boss Murray are ignored.

    I don’t see how the EPL can sustain the current model – I know, we keep saying it but eventually the bubble has to burst… when the first £1m a week player appears? When the average wage is 100k?!

    Debt levels of a number of clubs are at serious levels and any clubs falling out the top tier not promoted soon after will face the very real threat of going out of business – Blackburn and Leeds are two recent examples of clubs struggling after over exerting.

    Ok if Hearts or Hibs hit average crowds of 20k its not massive in comparison to us or the dead club from Govan – however, many clubs in the mystical land the of the EPL survive on those sorts of crowds.

    Who’d have ever thought Swansea or Hull would be in an enviable position financially?!
