Jetsam, flotsam and aggregated insight

752

Great to see so many names from years ago back on the blog yesterday.  As well as the jetsam and flotsam of life at Celtic, there have been times when the blog has had real value to the few, and occasionally, to the many.  Once or twice, we’ve made a real difference to our club.

Our ability to add value correlates directly with the great contributions which appear here; sometimes when people offer remarkable insight, sometimes when many aggregate their thoughts to analyse an issue.

My guess is that there will be moments in the next decade when that insight and aggregation will be needed, so thanks to everyone who keeps the place sane through the flotsam days, before the biggies emerge.  Thanks also for yesterday’s enormous support.  The untold stories of acts of kindness and generosity from the community over the decade are so numerous they are no longer exceptional.  It’s a great place to be a part of.

There are changes ahead.  A new blog design is on the way and the Quick News section will retire this summer.  Canajunbhoy has exclusively posted the section in the wee small hours for the best part of the decade, so he more than deserves peace to hang up his keyboard.  My sincere thanks for all his help.

CQteN was an enormous success and built three school kitchens in Malawi for Mary’s Meals (photos from the last two are on the way).  It was also enormous fun.  We’re going to do it again, although I’m not sure yet if it has the legs to be an annual event/bi-annual or other.  Open to ideas.

I woul recommed Ubunto for somebody who wants to make the jump from being an ignorant easily led consumer to an informed one. It is a massive world wide community with lots of information and help freely and readily available. It is the future imho.

But like everything you need to learn to crawl walk etc. before you can jump

and it wont cost you anything except your time ..but in the mean while you are getting an education and its all your own work

The last time I set up a dodgy stream in a pub in Nürenberg. I nearly lost my life due to poor buffering. Who would have thought there were so many mad IRA provos lying low in Nürenberg ???

Auldheid, while I appauld the club for engaging with fans I really believe that this isn’t really being done on any meaningful level. How can you gauge the feelings of 40000+ season ticket holders from a room full of selected individuals?

Over and over the same issues are aired on all the Celtic forums re match day experience and it appears the club is doing nothing to address those concerns.

As Cowiebhoy says 1 survey in how many years?

I expect my club to engage in a more proactive way, especially in this age of digital media, prehaps some of the money from player sales could be diverted towards a comprehensive fan survey with the survey questions agreed in advance with fan representatives.

  13. Logged on there and saw a few folk commenting on the coverage on the national news of our wonderful stadium. Managed to catch it by going onto BBC iPlayer live – look for tonight’s 10.00 news then use the scroll bar at the bottom to go to around 22:25.

From looking at the attendees I imagine it was done by the marketing researchers looking across the age, gender, ST holder, non ST holder etc spectrum going by those in attendance.

Some sort of sampling tool probably.

On your suggestion it was done for a Supporters Forum in Feb where issues raised by posters on CQN were gathered in, grouped and passed to the SLO to answer at a meeting convened for the purpose.

Some folk had objections that it was too exclusive, although any arrangement that fails to take everyone’s view into account would fall foul of that charge.

Communication with the support was criticised which is not surprising and the feedback on that might lead to an improvement.
