Jo Inge Berget in ahead of Legia

715

As always, it’s important to get the players you want, not end up with fourth or fifth choice, so on that measure, I’m happy Ronny Deila has secured a player he knows well. Jo Inge Berget is a wide attacking player, who will fit into the manager’s high-tempo, pressing, style of play.

The deal, a loan which gives Celtic the option to sign the player permanently if he’s successful, places incentives in the right places.

Enjoyed watching the cycling this week? Why don’t you sign up for the Paradise to Cardenden Cycle, which takes place on 6 September. Details here. You’ll enjoy it, and do great things for the Foundation.

Welcome to Celtic, Jo.

Good to have you in the debate. :-) How are you and the family, hopefully beautifully tanned and fit as athletes. :-))

  6. Re Tony Watt , like most things in football ( including Neil leaving) it boils down to the football.

Tony wished to play as a penalty box striker , turning centre halves on his right side ( the old KD trick) , very quickly the opposition worked this out and stepped back. Tony then reverted to dip left shoulder go right and because he was not sharp enough , invariably got blocked, against the packed defences Celtic play against. Neil moved Tony left to develop his game but he got fed up and did not contribute.

For a team playing in a more open game , Tony will do OK.

Ps in my view Neil left because he considered he could not improve the team in the CL and it was time to pass the baton on. A good Celtic man, our Neil.

The accumalated bullshit on football matters on here is getting depressing

And so with the whole of timland in their cots, Brogan Rogan sits alone in his head to consider the real meaning of the day’s transfer news.

With no big international signings and a trip to Poland looming, he suddenly realises exactly where Celtic stand and he simply cannot keep it to himself.

Notwithstanding that the CQN super efficient body location monitor shows that he is at his keyboard somewhere in Stirlingshire, the truth is that he is very far away indeed, and unfortunately he falls prey to his own prediction of sometimes needing “the necessary insanity” to cope with life and all its ups and downs.

Unable to contain himself, he simply lets rip…….. and unfortunately it is all caught on camera……

  15. Great gesture from Celtic

CELTIC has confirmed this week that it will send a select side to face Villarreal for a charity match on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at El Madrigal Stadium, with the gate receipts exclusively heading to the Spanish side’s ‘United for Hope’ project.

Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the Celtic Submari CSC, a Villarreal supporters’ group that began when Celtic played in 2004 at El Madrigal, is promoting an initiative with the aim of improving the quality of life of children affected by cancer.

Celtic Chief Executive Peter Lawwell, said: “Celtic is delighted to have such a magnificent support worldwide and we have enjoyed a fantastic relationship with Villarreal and the Celtic Submari CSC over the years.

“We are delighted to be sending a team around the September international break to play in this match.

“Our own charitable arm – Celtic FC Foundation – puts Health as one of its four main priorities, so it is very fitting for Celtic to support this initiative.

“We are very much looking forward to heading back to El Madrigal later in the year.”

Ticket details are to be announced soon.

A young rebellious type, that young man, he’d never get away with that in Scotland, well specifically Celtic Park.

  20. Celtic sign a player with promise on loan.

Allows the club to assess his potential before making an ultimate multi-million pound decision.

Wow that’s telling Celtic supporters the club are not open to all and dissenters are most definitely not welcome as Celtic supporters says quite a lot about your values and betrays intolerance yet you label fellow Celtic supporters green huns

This type of Freedom should never be mixed up with the “Do as thou Wilt” crowd. Their idea of freedom is a lot darker and they do indeed control the levers of power, unfortunately.

Ronny Deee has the hardest possible game in this qualifying round, I think we will be fine, although it certainly won’t come easy.

Can you feel it, can you feel it, it is like a new Emotion?

  23. Welcome Jo, you’re a lucky young man.

  25. Re signing jo.

  26. Tony Watt contributed to what was in my top 5 Celtic games .

For that I will be eternally grateful.

To be there with my bhoy was truly truly wonderful .

On another matter , does anyone think we have a plan apart from selling players and cutting costs?

I’m seriously worried about our CL prospects .

Anyway, I live in hope of a change in strategy

  27. I understand the financial limitations under which we are required to work.

Our income in comparison to the majority of clubs who we could possibly play in CL competition is a pittance.

However, we’ve been repeatedly told by those in charge at Celtic that qualification to the group stages is paramount.

If that’s the case, why gamble to such an extent?

We need a striker, everyone recognises that. I’ve always advocated signing someone who is currently scoring goals, it may be at a poorer team and in a poorer league but at least you know you’re getting someone who can do what it says on the tin.

Ps sitting on the balcony in Luz and in the distance I can hear a couple of gents belting out Joe McDonnell as they return home.

    Portugal’s a smashin’ place :-)

  28. The thing about Jo is he has no promise. No good reviews. Poor one from Cardiff and that’s it to qualify to CL. Insult to intelligence

Let’s give the guy a chance. It’s natural that on the day we sell a Tim that many of us had real hopes for and replace him with an unknown, 6 month loan replacement that there will be disappointment.
