Judge King plan by those who father it

950

I’ve no affection for Real Madrid but was delighted for them, and Carlo Ancelotti in particular, last night.  It’s getting to the stage that it’s impossible to figure out who the best team in Europe actually is.

Bayern Munich’s season has been historic.  They swept aside German competitors with record-breaking ease on their way to what looked like them becoming the first team to retain Europe’s top crown in its Champions League format.  Real were irresistible.  Let’s hope for a Madrid final before the Lions in Lisbon next month.

After yesterday’s blog I heard that more journalistic allies from Anderston Quay have flocked to Dave King’s camp, including that Leggat (sp?) guy, who used to entertain many.

I’ve heard more theories as to what the Sevco board and the group trying to run their club into the ground are planning that I care to remember, but when you look at the team King in particular has pulled together, you would be forgiven for concluding there is no masterplan worthy of the name.

We can’t always judge a man by the company he keeps but we can just a strategy by those who fathered it.

Prediction: King will kill Sevco then fall on his arse.  Bump.

Here we Go for 10 In a Row!

Applications for the 10th annual CQN charity golf day, which will take place in Aberdour Golf Club on Friday 4th July, will close this Friday, 2nd May.

As ever it will be oversubscribed so if you would like to attend, email BlantyreKev and Taggsy at cqnopen10IAR@gmx.co.uk before Friday.  Cost for the full day’s entertainment including golf is £80.  There are a very limited number of non-golfer evening places at £45.  Further detail will be released nearer the date and when places confirmed.

Over the course of the season I’ve read lots of comment about the values we should aspire to as a club, specifically when it comes to alleviating poverty, both in our own community, and abroad.  CQN’ers responded incredibly to our Malawi school kichen(s) appeal, which dwarfed our work at home.

The Charity Foundation are selling badges (£1 each) before the Dundee United game on 11 May to raise funds to feed the poor and hungry in and around Glasgow.  I have volunteered as a coordinator on the day and have offered to help recruit around 100 to sell badges before the game.

This will be trophy presentation day – but the trophy isn’t coming out until after the game, so you’ll not miss any of the flesh-on-silver action.

If you are able to get involved in this initiative, which strikes the core of what we think of ourselves as a Movement, email your details to cfcfvolunteer@celticfc.co.uk .

Thank you.

I see TD got a yellow card today and can’t say I’m surprised. I don’t think I have seen such a level of personal abuse directed against other tims from any other poster on here, verging on a pathological hatred against anyone who shows a modicum of ability in standing up for their fellow supporters. As for “telling tales” I haven’t heard such terms since I left John Bosco Secondary. I am a little surprised that someone reported him as I thought most sensible posters had recognised the benefits in scrolling on past his anti Tim rants.

First off like others here I am saddened to learn of the death of Bob Hoskins. Always watchable he was in several favourite films and tv shows of mine most notably Pennies From Heaven, Mona Lisa and as Harold Shand in the Long Good Friday – his wordless realisation that the game was up in the final scene of that last named film is up there with Orson Welles on that Big Wheel and Terry Molloy in the back of that cab as one of the very best scenes in the pictures. RIP Bob

Alas I am under the weather – was chatting to BMCUWP last evening so it must be his fault.

That I’m choked with the cold, have a sore throat and feel dizzy and that gives me the opportunity to miss tonight’s match by sloping off to bed soon.

I don’t like Chelsea – their support seems to contains masses of people who have beliefs which are the antithesis of mind and of course we all know what they did in Manchester 6 years ago.

In reality my dislike of Chelsea is much more recent than many claim and is not based on their support. I am not that keen on teams buying success scale on which they have especially as prior to Abramovic they could hardly claim seriously to be even one of England’s , far less Europe’s, biggest clubs. But worse despite the largesse they have never had an entertaining team since Mourinho originally arrived 10 years ago. If you offered me a ticket for one of their games gratis you’d have to throw in a night with Monica Bellucci before I’d consider taking up the offer. They are boring and unlikeable.

As for Atletico well I was there when they came to Celtic Park and disgraced the game with easily the most thuggish display I have seen . They ruined what should have been a thrilling evening. And I’ve never bought the idea that they were basically the better team anyway. They scored their goals very late on in the second leg . Celtic’s greatest ever player was mauled in the first leg ( King Kenny and Harry Hood were not significantly better treated) and received a death threat before playing in Madrid. I’ve met Atletico and Chelsea fans and they were of course mostly good people. But that I doesn’t mean I have to watch their teams play.

A vignette can often tell a greater truth.

I understand the Easdale Brothers had two guests in the Director’s Box at Ibrox last weekend.

These fine fellows were apparently from another part of Her Britannic Majesty’s glorious realm and they were clearly enjoying the ambience.

However I think it is fair to say that they were there to talk business.

It would appear that, in matters sartorial, these two gentlemen were of the ‘smart causal’ tendency.

Of course before one can enter the holy place that is the Blue Room one must be sporting a tie.

A functionary was sent off to the superstore for two club ties.

However the factotum returned empty handed as the errand had assumed that ties would be handed over free of charge.

The information proffered by the person at the super store was that this thriving commercial hub would take cash, but could also handle credit and debit cards!

The person in the Superstore demonstrated the Dunkirk sprit.

No, that’s wrong; they didn’t run away and leave a French person to clean up the mess.

I do not know how the ties were paid for, but they were not handed over for free.

Mike Ashley would undoubtedly approve of this commercially minded discipline at the Superstore.

Were the ties in the end purchased?

I am sure Sevco media can use the good offices of Clyde 1 Superscoreboard to set the record straight.

    We should be told…

  8. Just jumping in here ,I hope Celtic go all out to catch the ned who let the smoke bomb off in the Celtic area during the Glasgow cup.The fans around the incident should also step forward and man up.
