Jullien, Forrest and recuperation periods

563

We are already at the stage of the season when a return of Christopher Jullien or James Forrest would have little impact on the outcome.  It will take a scheduling miracle for the Scottish Cup to reach its latter stages before club football ends to allow players to join international squads ahead of the Euros, so the news that Chris is likely to be in recuperation until the start of next season is no real hardship.

The return of James will be a welcome sight but it is hard to see any big picture relevance, no matter how brilliant he plays.  Celtic players get little time to allow limbs to rest and recuperate, this is one such period.

Sunday night in Dingwall is the very last place in Scotland’s tourist trail, apart from the Celtic squad, who will arrive looking for their sixth successive win this month.

Ross County have not played in two weeks since defeat to Dundee United, a period that has seen Hamilton collect 5 points to put the Highlanders bottom of the table.  History records that they were the team who stopped Celtic’s run of 12 consecutive domestic trophies, when they eliminated us from the League Cup during the disastrous month of November.  We owe them one.

  1. My thoughts are to let Cal Mac play where he can be more dangerous, around the opposition penalty area or final third.

  2. *O’Donnell’s had a photie of Stevie’s winner in Lisbon behind the bar. No idea where the West End Bar was though.

Tontine The West End Bar – opposite end of the toon to O’ D’s…… 300 yards along main street from the Duntiglennan……just before the the motel on the boulevard ( also subsequently owned by the aforementioned Donegal gent)…Bar downstairs, Lounge upstairs.

I believe the motel has been knocked now and replaced with houses.

Who do you think would sign Ajeti in the summer and for how much?

    ————

Loan move back to Switzerland, then let him go for a small fee

  4. If we get the ball in the box Ajeti will score goals, never an early cross,or a ball into space, he does need to get sharper but I’m probably in the minority here..

The Lairds Loch usually stopped at the Princes Pier in Greenock, especially at the Greenock Fair. Eventually there was a daylight sailing from Derry on the last Saturday of the Greenock Fair. The Greenockians, Port Tonians and Gourockians were disembarked at Princes Pier and then the boat went on up to Glasgow to pick up the people from all round who were going to Ireland for the Glasgow Fair.

  8. Peterborough chairman Barry Fry insists Ivan Toney would have WALKED to Celtic – but deemed the Parkhead club’s offer “insulting

The Premiership champions were keen to land the striker in the summer but saw a £5million bid turned down.

Eventually West Ham’s Albian Ajeti arrived to bolster the attack, while Toney moved to English Championship side Brentford.

He’s since hit 14 goals in 16 league games, but Fry insists he could easily have been banging them in for Neil Lennon.

“Ivan wanted to go to Celtic. They should have pulled their finger out but they f***** about.

    I was being facetious.

Having said that there are a lot of LIVERPOOL supporters thick as huns and they will want KLOPP out.

  11. Toney would struggle on the service our strikers get and the protection our strikers don’t get.

Why do you ghuys think he’s the messiah?

  12. “At the time, they were prepared to give him £25,000 a week — more than what the others were prepared to.

“That said, he’s got a better deal at Brentford. Brentford really wanted him and did their homework. But Ivan would have WALKED to Celtic.

“Nicky flew down to see me but Celtic’s bid was insulting. I told Nicky he’d wasted a flight.

“I’d have waited. I told Gavin and Nick I was happy to do that — provided they came up with the right money. They said they didn’t have the money but would have if they sold Edouard.”

  13. Barry Fry quote, not a Toney quote.

I’m sure he’d have come to us if Brentford or an EPL team hadn’t come in.

My point was that I don’t think it was a case of Toney or Ajeti.

More likely, Celtic interested in Toney, Toney wanted to go to Brenford, Celtic look at alternatives and end up with Ajeti.

I thought tomorrow was a afternoon kick-off, since the team can’t spend the night at a hotel, they’ll get back around 5 am I would guess

  15. lets all do the huddle on

    24 hours to kick off – 8pm Sunday night – it’s a joke

    yip

someone was joking when they told you that

    its 7.30 kick off

you will miss the first 3 goals if you tune in at 8

i think its a great kick off time

just wish i was going to be there

i think they are staying in a hotel tonight and straight home after it

  17. Pretty sure Lenny said they wouldn’t be home until 4:00am on Monday..

Bend over again Celts, you deserve it!

  18. So Lenny will give them the Monday off.

    Well, they’re fit lads……………aren’t they?

  19. PHILBHOY on 20TH FEBRUARY 2021 7:52 PM

I don’t think Toney is a Messiah but I’ve watched him quite often this season and he’s a very good player who not only scores lots of goals but his pace and movement is good. He’ll be in the EPL next season one way or another and he’ll leave Brentford for around three times what they paid for him. He was great business from a club who are making a habit of smart recruitment.

Ajeti looks unfit and is struggling for form and goals.

    There’s no comparison.

  20. Prestonpans bhoys – Lenny said they were staying in a hotel that would probably just open for us tonight.

I thought the team would have stayed tomorrow night as well.

From the comment below I take it every other team takes six busses or is it just us😵

Jason Leitch has explained the limitation of Scottish football’s elite bubbles after Neil Lennon revealed Celtic will take six buses to Ross County.

We will never know if Toney would have made a difference at Celtic because, well he’s never played for us.

So it’s all guess work and speculation.
